Welcome to Falmouth Academy Summer Programs!
C
hallenge yourself, tap into your creative juices and
have a great time with us this summer at Falmouth
Academy Summer Programs. Spend some time
exploring the arts, athletics, science, robotics, theatre,
languages, the outdoors, cooking, forensics and more!
For your convenience, we’ve streamlined the
registration process, payment structure and course
schedule to make sign-up easy, and our programs fit
into the rhythm of summer days. You can register

Falmouth Academy’s Summer Programs are always
growing, and this summer we’re mixing things up with
new and expanded programs.
Falmouth Academy Summer Programs are available for
students of all ages and skill levels all summer long,
delivering once-a-week evening sessions for adults and
one-, two-, or three-week children’s programs. In fact,
there are six weeks of action-packed programs from
which to choose!
New additions include: two-week, all-day ATHLETICS
CAMPS and a new offering during week four called
“CAMP! A Full Day of Fun.”
We have new all-day options that allow families to
link programs from the morning to the afternoon and
a new extended-day option that extends the Summer
Program day by an extra hour in the morning and
afternoon. Lunch is provided for all programs and runs
from noon until 12:30.
Also new this year is Falmouth Academy’s beautiful
new Morse Hall! The open, air-conditioned
amphitheatre is the perfect spot for performances
and demonstrations, and is a cool, relaxing place to
eat lunch.

Full-Day Sports
9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. (per week): $375

Morning Programs
9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. (per week): $275
(includes lunch)
Payment Policy: A $50 deposit must be accompanied
with each registration. This can be paid by credit card
or check. Checks must be received within two weeks of
registration. Full balance of program tuition is due May
1, 2015. Applications submitted after May 1 must be
accompanied by full payment.
Cancellation Policy: Prior to April 1, 2015, cancellations
will be refunded in full (minus $20 processing fee). After
June 1, 2015, 50% of course fee is non-refundable.
However, no refund will be given if you cancel in the
two weeks prior to the start of your class.
In cases of sickness or injury, fees will be prorated
with a required doctor’s note. We reserve the right
to dismiss a student without refund if conduct is
detrimental to his/her well-being or the well-being of
others.
Session Fees: Please see the following list of session
fees for most of the courses we are offering this year. It
is important to check the fees listed next to your chosen
sessions as there are a few which do not follow this
schedule and/or pricing structure.

Week One: June 29 – July 3
Children’s Theatre: M.A.S.K.!
(Making Acting Special for Kids)
with Davien Gould and Cathy Lemay
9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m., ages 5-8, $275
Children will have the opportunity to explore a
kaleidoscope of theater experiences and performance
techniques, stimulating imagination, strengthening
focus and building confidence while preparing for
their roles on stage. Together we will engage in a
variety of creative dramatic activities including theater
games, movement, art, improvisation, and mime, along
with making simple sets and costumes, which will be
incorporated into our final performance on Friday. A
week of FUN is promised!
Art and Scientific Drawing:
Drawing Marine Life of Cape Cod
with Kimberly Ulmer
9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m., ages 7-12, $275
In this mix of art and science, students will learn to
apply observational skills to illustration. With a focus on
detailed pencil drawings, we will explore the Falmouth
coastline, view plankton live under the microscope,
and compare the anatomy of mollusks and their shells.
Students will create multiple pencil drawings, learning
both the common and scientific names of each species.
In addition to pencil, they’ll paint with watercolors and
oil pastels. In the end, they’ll have a portfolio of local
marine life drawn using multiple mediums.
Heart-Felt Creatures! Making Fun Animals
with Emmanuelle Bonnafoux Claydon
9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m., ages 9-12, $275
Make small stuffed animals with felt sheets and turn
them into brooches, barrettes, key chains, and magnets.
They make great gifts for someone — or yourself!
Learn how to cut, sew and embroider. We’ll begin with
patterns and move to personal designs depending on
students’ whims and ability. The end result will be a
cute little creature and the knowledge and ability to
make more!
Lacrosse Camp for Girls:
One or Two Weeks
with Sarah Knowles
9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., ages 8-14, $375 per week
(includes t-shirt)
Interested in playing lacrosse for the first time or
want to continue playing lacrosse in the summer
season? This two-week camp will cover the
fundamentals of the game of girls’ lacrosse for both
beginner and intermediate players. Players will learn
basic stick skills, offensive and defensive strategies,
and positioning through drills and games. They will
also improve their skills through daily 7v7 game
competitions. By the end of the camp, players will
be able to catch, cradle and shoot the ball in gamelike situations. All players must have cleats, goggles,
mouth guard and a girl’s lacrosse stick to play. Sarah
coaches lax at FA during the school year.
Lacrosse Camp for Boys:
One or Two Weeks
with Colin O’Brien
9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., ages 8-14, $375 per week
(includes t-shirt)
This program is for beginning and intermediate
lacrosse players. Students will focus on building
individual skills and learning team concepts over
a two-week span. Each day will end with a game
or tournament, allowing the students to put
the concepts they learn into practice and, most
importantly, have fun. Students must bring full
lacrosse gear. Colin coaches lax at FA during the
school year.

All the World’s A Stage!
Wed night only
with Davien Gould and Cathy Lemay
12:00-3:00 p.m., ages 7-12, $275
Join Cathy and Davien for this exciting new class! This
workshop will give children the opportunity to explore
the specific techniques used by professional actors to
develop a character for the stage. Using their voices,
bodies, and imaginations, along with any unique skills
they may bring with them, students will create and
develop an artistic piece to perform on Friday. Do you
play an instrument? Juggle? Dance or Sing? Do a magic
trick? You do it, we’ll use it! Together we will put
together a Friday showcase extraordinaire!
French Hors-d’oeuvres for Adults
with Emmanuelle Bonnafoux Claydon
July 1, 7:00-9:00 p.m., adults only, $40
(includes food and wine)
Participants will be introduced to the French culture of
apéritif and learn how to make many hors-d’oeuvres
that can be served at cocktail parties. Recipes include
tapenade, chèvre chaud, and the fashionable verrines.
Not only do students get to sample their creations and
socialize with a glass of wine in hand, they will also go
home with a handful of easy recipes that will wow their
guests every time. Ooh la la!
Field Fun in the Afternoon
Thursday Night Fencing
for Teens and Adults
with Mike Campbell
12:00-3:00 p.m., ages 7-12, $275
Capture the Flag, Ultimate Frisbee, Kick Ball, and
Dodge ball and 4 Square are just some of the games
we’ll play on the field and in the gym. A master class in
classic games, teamwork and sportsmanship will be a
main focus for the whole week of fun!

7:00-9:00 p.m., ages 16 years through adult,
$30 each or all five weeks for $130
(includes use of all equipment)
Come enjoy an instructional and challenging evening
of sport fencing. This class will be once a week for
5 weeks. Sign up for all 5 classes or come to one or
more. Each class will focus on both good technique
and intense fencing. Lessons will include footwork,
bladework and how to think during a fencing bout.
Each class will have time to free-fence using electrical
equipment. The class is structured to be a threeweapon class using saber, epee or foil. All equipment
is supplied.
Suspenders Circus Skills:
Beginning and Intermediate
with Al Moniz
12:00-3:00 p.m., ages 9-13, $275
This is a chance to try juggling, balancing, Rolla bolla,
stilt walking, diabolo whirling, devil sticking, plate
spinning, and more. Through lots of experimentation,
practice, demonstrations, games playing with
props, you’ll get a real taste of circus skills!
A short demo will be given by the kids for
their families on the last day.

Week Two: July 6 – July 10

Making Jewelry
with Pearls and Other Seaside Findings

Make beautiful jewelry from pearls, jingle shells and
objects found at the beach. One morning will be
spent at the beach to find treasures and techniques
will include stringing and crimping. The result? Lovely
bracelets and necklaces to remember the Cape all
year long!
Camera! Build One and Make Photographs
with Tom Kleindinst
9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m., ages 7-12, $275
This is a class about learning photography in a broad
sense. Students will climb inside a real-live camera
obscura (Look it up!), build their own pinhole camera,
photograph in the field, print in the darkroom making
photograms and reverse prints from their own handbuilt pinhole camera. Click!
Nature of Clay:
Two Weeks of Advanced Ceramics
with Marite Burns
9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m., ages 8-12, $550
This class is primarily for the student who has had
some experience in clay and wants to learn wheel
throwing. Some hand building with a focus on nature
as inspiration will be used to create bowls and mugs.
We will visit the Aquarium in Woods Hole and collect
flowers and leaves to use as inspiration to decorate our
pots. Then students will focus on learning to work on
the wheel, making bowls and mugs. Students will take
home several glazed wheel-thrown and hand-built pots.

FUNdamentals in Robotics
with Fred Jaffre
12:00-3:00 p.m., M-Th only, ages 11-14,
$600 for 3 weeks
Innovative technology
is shaping the way we
do things. One of the
most effective means to
create technology is to
develop an understanding
of its dynamic and
programming properties.
This three-week course
will introduce students
to the fundamentals
of robotics including
conceptual development,
mechanical and electrical
engineering, software
programming and
fabrication. This course
will encourage problem
solving, reflective
thinking, creative energy
and teamwork. We will
reinforce theory through hands-on exercises
using the LEGO Mindstorms Robotic
Invention Systems through which students
will create inventive robots and program
their creation to do specific tasks.

As chef Pusit says, “I used to help my grandma in the
kitchen and I learned about food from her. Everything
starts in the kitchen.” An introduction to authentic
Thai dishes using different spices that will make your
taste buds come alive! Learn how to cook and order
in a Thai restaurant. A complete main course will be
demonstrated and then savored!
Thai Cooking 101 for Adults
Fun with Fencing for Ages 7-10

This class will run through the fundamentals of the
Olympic sport of fencing. Students will explore the
basics of fencing, learning the stance (engarde) as well
as how to move, block and score a point in fencing.
At the end of the week, students should have an
understanding of how to fence as well as the rules of
the game.

Campers will learn the fundamentals of basketball
through various competitions and one-on-one
instructions. Not only will the boys be working with
the players and coaches of Falmouth Academy, they
will also have the opportunity to meet and
work with Division I athletes and college
coaches. This experience will be like no other,
and the players’ skills will greatly increase
by the end of the week.

From ancient Roman times to the modern day, the
sword has gone through many adaptations. This class
will work its way through the history of the sword from
longsword up to modern-day fencing, a skill pivotal to
the education of any proper 18th-century gentleman.
It promotes athleticism, balance, poise, and grace.
Falmouth Academy offers a modern reincarnation of
this classical education through fun and challenging
games and exercises. Prepare for a dazzling
tournament at the end of this two-week session!

Children’s Theatre: Puss in Boots
with Sally Egan
9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m., ages 5-8, $275
The oldest son gets the mill; the middle son gets the
mules; the youngest son gets the cat. Lucky for the
youngest, this cat is in no way ordinary and eventually
wins a princess, a kingdom and great riches for his
master. Ogres, lions, lords and ladies — there are
wonderful parts for everyone in this offbeat but
exciting story.

Introduction to Computer Programming
with Mike Campbell

In this course we will introduce computer programming
using many different languages. Students will learn the
basics of writing programs with games and puzzles,
then learn how to draw with JAVA. Students will have
the option to move on to more advanced topics if
they’re interested.
Treasure of the Sea (for Advanced

In this classic and wildly popular class, two teams
strategize, plan, and build forts in the woods on the
hill. The results are structures made of cardboard,
boards, branches, paint, twigs, rope and other stuff.
The goal is to create a fort that will survive the final
day’s water battle. Get your water balloons and squirt
guns ready!

Travel through Three European Dialects

We’ll be operatic in Italy, fabulous in France and
germaine in Germany! Come learn some accents to
impress with your Continental sophistication. We’ll use
some fun scenes to play and learn. Come join!
Fencing for Ages 9-12
with Lael LaRanger
12:00-3:00 p.m., ages 9-12, $275
(includes use of all equipment)
Together we will explore the basics of the sport of
fencing. Students will learn how to use a fencing
weapon effectively for blocking and thrusting. They
will also have an understanding how the movements
and control of the body help to protect as well as make
a fencer faster. At the end of the week students should
have an understanding of how to fence as well as the
rules of the game.

Week Four: July 20 – July 24
Children’s Theatre: The Golden Goose
with Sally Egan
9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m., ages 5-8, $275
This timeless tale of a golden goose with immense
powers of attraction abounds with humor and physical
comedy. A haughty innkeeper, his greedy daughters
and many hapless villagers are taken on a merry ride by
an innocent farm boy whose story starts in a barn and
ends in a castle.
CAMP! A Full-Day of Fun
with many wonderful faculty and assistants
9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., ages 7-12, $525
Welcome to CAMP! Our day campers will participate
in many new activities designed to increase selfconfidence, personal growth and development. We’ll
dabble in many arts, play games outside, create crafts,
shoot archery, dance Zumbatomics, go for a swim
at the beach, hike in the woods and make lasting
friendships. CAMP! is the perfect blend of art, athletics,
socializing and fun! Come and try it!
Nature Exploration
with Mike Campbell
9:00 a.m-12:30 p.m., ages 8-11, $275
Want to go on a hike, catch a fish or maybe turn
over some rocks and look for salamanders? In Nature
Explorations we will do all that and more under the
guidance of nature enthusiast Mike Campbell. The class
will explore the Beebe Woods and beyond. We will take
trips to the beach to explore tidal pools and nature
reserves to climb trees. On Friday, we’ll have ice cream!

Advanced Acting for Two Weeks:
Alice’s Journey Through Wonderland
Photo Magic: A Two-Week Adventure in
Darkroom and Digital Photography
with Alicia Buccino
9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m., ages 8-12, $550
Through one week of darkroom and one week of
digital photography, students will experiment with
printing black and white non-camera darkroom
techniques and use Adobe Photoshop on the computer
to create digital images. History and technique will be
covered and by the end of the session, kids will take
home a mini portfolio of black-and-white darkroom
prints and computer generated color digital photos.
Hand-Building with Clay for Two Weeks
with Jacek Zuzanski
9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m., ages 7-12, $550
In this two-week class, children will learn an array of
creative skills including: expressing themselves using
voice and physical expression, developing theatrical
character through imaginative thinking and inspiration,
working creatively with partners and in groups
supporting each other, completing tasks and solving
problems. Students will play acting games, exercise
physical and voice expressive talents, design and create
costumes, props, masks and other visual elements,
audition for parts with the goal of an original
adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s “Alice” stories. At the
end we will have a marvelous presentation for other
campers, families and friends!
Basketball Camp for Girls:
One or Two Weeks
with Gus Adams
9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., ages 10-14, $375 per week
(includes t-shirt)
Falmouth Academy varsity girls’ coach will conduct
a camp for players entering grades 5-8. This clinic
will emphasize individual skill development, as well
as team concepts. Players will come away from the
session with a personal, independent practice plan to
improve all phases of the game.

9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m., ages 7-12, $550
Young ceramicists will build pinch pots, coil pots, vessels
from slab, lanterns, shallow dishes and bowls and a
functional storage box with a lid! We will use the slab
roller to roll out slabs for the template forms and the
extruder for the coils. Students will look at pictures of
all the different projects to inspire them to create their
own. At the end of the two weeks, students will have
lots of finished pieces to take home! They can use the
pieces they create for food containers and decoration.

Landscapes, Inside and Out!
with Sandy Nickerson
9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m., ages 7-12, $275
Students will explore landscape by painting outside
and inside, using watercolors, acrylics, pastels
and collage. Their work will be inspired by Ansel
Adams, Wolfe Kahn, and Helen Frankenthaler.
Students will explore landscape through
observation, memory and emotional impact. Wed night only
Forensic Science and the Real CSI
with Dan Ledoux
July 22, 7:00-9:00 p.m., adults and teens only, $25
The Forensic Science seminar will discuss the dramatic
differences between forensic science fact and television
fiction. During the seminar, students will learn about
investigating a crime scene, analyzing evidence in a
laboratory and testifying at a criminal trial. They’ll also
have the opportunity to engage in hands-on activities
such as crime scene photography, fingerprinting and
mock trial testimony. The seminar is recommended for
adults and teens. A Q&A session is available at the end.

Week Five: July 27 – July 31
Children’s Theatre: Little Red Riding Hood
with Sally Egan
9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m., ages 5-8, $275
You know this classic story, but we’ll give it a few
exciting twists as fairies and creatures of the wood
try their hardest to keep the headstrong Red on the
straight and narrow.
Whales!
with Christian Khan
10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. (4 days) and 8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
(Provincetown day), ages 10-14, $500
(includes lunch plus materials)
Learn about the fascinating world of whales and
how these mammals have adapted to the marine
environment, how they communicate with each other,
how they find and catch prey, the impacts that human
behavior has on their survival and what you can do
to help. Climb inside a 50' inflatable whale, meet real
marine biologists, learn how data is collected and
identified and get out on the water on a whale watch
in Provincetown to look for these elusive creatures!
This course will focus particularly on the North Atlantic
right whale and other species common to the waters of
Cape Cod.

Outdoor Survival Skills
with Mike Campbell
9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m., ages 10-13, $275
Learn skills to help you survive in the wilds of Cape Cod
and beyond. From navigating to fire building, shelter
construction, and edible plant identification, students
will learn how to tackle and endure challenges one
might face on a camping trip. Students will brainstorm,
work in teams, and game play to create strategies for
survival. All students will build a survival kit. This safe
and informative course has been a big hit the past
five summers!
Basketball Camp for Girls:

Soccer Camps at FA: One or Two Weeks
with head coordinator Ed Furtek
Broken into three separate fields, with three coaches
and three age groups (ages 6-10 coed, ages 11-14
girls and 11-14 boys) FA presents FULL-DAY soccer!
Headed by coach Ed Furtek and other coaches, this is

fundamentals. Beginner soccer players will develop
technical skills as well as a love of the game. Our
head coach, who has a wealth of experience working
with children in athletic and educational settings,
will help every camper reach his or her potential and
enjoy the team experience. Every year our curriculum
goes through a transformation as we continually
improve and expand on previous camp weeks.

This is the session for the kid who wants to do
everything! We will visit Battleship Cove to explore
retired battleships, cruisers and submarines; Carabiners,
one of the world’s largest indoor rock climbing gyms;
a Lobster Excursion, where we will cruise around
Plymouth Harbor and learn about bottom dwelling
crustaceans; Rexhame Beach in Marshfield to paddle
board and surf with the professionally trained staff of
Luminate Surf & Skate Shop; and another exciting day
trip TBD!

Summertime Desserts and
How to Pair with the Perfect Wine
with Judy Kleindinst
July 29th, 7:00-8:30 p.m., adults only, $40
Which wine is best with a summer fruit tart? Taste and
find the answer in this class! In this course you’ll glean
skills and recipes for making summertime desserts
along with information on how to pair them with ice
wine (little known and extraordinary dessert wine.)
This will mainly be a demonstration class, but students
will have an opportunity for some hands-on
fun and tasting in the kitchen too. You’ll
receive a packet of recipes and learn
techniques and ideas for pairing desserts
with appropriate wines.

Kayaking the Cape
with Tom Kleindinst
9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., ages 9-13, $600
(includes rental fees for all equipment)
The course will cover safety and the basics of kayaking.
Each day we’ll kayak the waters of Cape Cod, do
scavenger hunts, play beach games, picnic, and explore
the coast. Destinations will include Squeteague and
West Falmouth Harbors, plus others. We’ll start out and
end each day at the same spot. All students must be
capable swimmers and life jackets (provided) must be
worn. Let’s have fun, explore, and kayak!

Summer Program Faculty
Coach Gus Adams has played collegiately at Salem State
University and has coached high school and AAU for fifteen
years. He is currently FA girls’ varsity coach. They’ve had six
winning seasons, averaging fourteen wins per season.
Bill Andrade has taught PE in both Morse Pond Middle School
and Falmouth Academy combined for over 40 years. Similar to
William Tell, he’s an excellent archer, but refrains from shooting
apples from the tops of heads! He keeps it safe and will teach
safety as well as accuracy.
Pusit Atthaoraek is a man of many talents; he has worked with
the United Nations helping to resettle Thais into foreign countries,
he played professional volleyball, he learned kickboxing as a
military duty, he has a business that salvages broken tractors and
ships them back to Thailand. He’s a chef and organic gardener and
his meals cooked for the faculty have left them asking for more.
He earned a BS at Chang Mai University, Thailand.
Dr. Emmanuelle Bonnafoux Claydon grew up in France and
moved to the US thirteen years ago to get a Ph.D. in French
Literature from the University of Chicago. She has taught French
to both college and high school students for 15 years. In her
spare time, she loves cooking and making crafts! Teaching +
Cooking + Crafts = Perfect Recipe for a Sizzling Summer at the
FA Summer Programs.
Eva Breneman has worked for 15 years in professional theatre.
She has studied and earned degrees in: BFA from Tisch School
of Arts at NYU, MA from The Royal Central School of Speech
and Drama in London. She has taught both undergraduate and
graduate levels and has taken on multiple television coaching
projects. She is a freelance dialect, voice and monologue coach

Alicia Buccino received her B.A. in Studio Art from Mount
Holyoke College with a concentration in printmaking,
photography, and art history. She worked in art and photo
publishing in New York and Boston for more than 10 years. She
has taught photography at FA Summer Programs for five years.

Marite Burns, a potter and fused-art glass artist, is a certified
art teacher with 30 years of teaching experience. She graduated
from the University of Connecticut and has an M.A.T. from
Bridgewater State University. She studied at Truro Center for the
Arts, Haystack School of Crafts, Maine College of Art and the
Massachusetts College of Art. Currently, she teaches ceramics at

Michael Campbell has been an outdoor enthusiast since he
was a child spending summers at his uncle’s log cabin on
Lake Winnipesaukee. A high school math teacher, he uses his
knowledge of problem solving to tackle all challenges. His
background in working with kids and his mathematical mind
make him the ultimate teacher. He earned a BS in Math from
Bridgewater University and an MEd from American International
College. This will his tenth year working in FA Summer Programs.
Anne Clarkin is the Director at the Woods Hole Child Center and
also is the teacher of the younger class. She has been a licensed
Zumba® and Zumbatomics® instructor since 2012. Anne teaches
Zumba® at 241 Fitness and has taught Zumbatomics® at the
Falmouth Public Library.
Sally Egan is dedicated to the education and creative expression
of young children. She is Director and lead teacher of an
independent home-based nursery-kindergarten called Sally’s
Little School. She has a B.A. in Literature, a M.Ed in Waldorf
Education and Integrated Learning from Wells College and
Antioch College, and 28 years of classroom experience. She has
the skills and enthusiasm to guide children to experience the joys
of confident self-expression.

Ed Furtek has coached interscholastic boys soccer at Mashpee
High School for 22 years and girls teams for the Falmouth Soccer
Club for 20 years. He has also coached a girls team in Denver CO
and helped with coaches clinics in Port Au Prince, Haiti. A retired
educator, Ed has worked for more than 30 years as a Special
Education teacher, a School Psychologist, and an English teacher.
He holds Masters degrees in Special Education and English, and a
CAGS in School Psychology. He has 16 years experience working
summer camps.
Alfie Glover is renowned in New England for his whimsical wood
sculptures and his workshops for adults and children are in great
demand. His work is widely exhibited and is in many collections,
including Boston Children’s Hospital, Duxbury Art Complex
Museum, Cahoon Museum of American Art and in The Cape Cod

Davien Gould has been active in theater on and off the stage
for the last 40 years. She has directed many family productions
for the Falmouth Theatre Guild and, most recently, she directed
FTG’s production of Young Frankenstein, the Musical. Davien
has spent much of her career developing acting workshops for
children and adults, as well as incorporating theater, music, and
movement into her Kindergarten and Integrated Arts Programs
at the K.C.Coombs School in Mashpee, where she taught for 22
years. Davien holds a B.S. from Skidmore College in Elementary
Education and Theater Arts, and an M.S. in Early Childhood
Education and Child Development from Wheelock College.
Fred Jaffre earned his M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the
French engineering school, Institut Superieur de Toulon et du Var.
He joined the Oceanographic Systems Laboratory at Woods Hole
Oceanographic Institution as an electrical engineer in 2003. He
works on underwater instrumentation design, control systems,
analog and digital electronics and signal processing.
Christin Khan completed her Master of Science in Biology at San
Francisco State University with research on vocal development
in harbor seals; her work was published in the Journal of the
Acoustical Society of America. Christin works for NOAA Fisheries
in Woods Hole, with a primary focus on right whale aerial
surveys. She loves flying, watching these amazing creatures, and

Judy Kleindinst has worked at the Woods Hole Oceanographic
Institution for 40 years. In her spare time she has taken numerous
professional cooking and wine pairing classes in New York
and California. She has become an expert in the culinary arts
and enjoys spreading her knowledge and sharing recipes and
techniques.
Professionally, Tom Kleindinst is a photographer. He has worked
as the Senior Staff Photographer at Woods Hole Oceanographic
Institution for more than three decades. Non-professionally,
he’s a kayaker and wood worker who has helped his son build
a kayak and many paddles and forts. He knows both the waters

Sarah Knowles is passionate about playing sports. Growing up
playing field hockey, basketball, and lacrosse in middle and high
school, she went on to play field hockey and lacrosse at Smith
College and Connecticut College where she studied architecture
and art history. Sarah now works in the Admissions Office at
Falmouth Academy and coaches the Falmouth Academy girls’
varsity lacrosse team (South Eastern New England Independent
Small School Athletic League 2014 Champions). Sarah enjoys
being able to share her love of the game of lacrosse and help
new players reach their potential.
Lael LaRanger started as a fencer in high school, fenced on the
NYU fencing team, and then was hired by New Amsterdam
fencing Academy as a fulltime fencing coach. She has worked
as a fencing coach for 9 years, and loves to teach
students the proper use of the sword, and help
students to understand the historical importance
of the fencing martial art.
Daniel Ledoux is currently enrolled in the Masters program for
Biomedical Forensic Science at the Boston University School of
Medicine. He has taken numerous courses in such areas as crime
scene investigation, forensic biology, trace evidence analysis,
medicolegal death investigation, pattern evidence analysis, and
criminal law. His thesis focuses on colorimetric field testing of
novel scheduled drugs including synthetic cannabinoids and
bath salts.
Cathy Lemay has been a teacher at the Wing School in Sandwich
for the past 25 years. She is also the co-director of the Wing
Theatre Troupe, an after-school drama club that produces a
full scale musical each Spring. Cathy is an active member of the
Falmouth Theater Guild, serving on their Board of Directors.
She can often be found at Highfield Theater either onstage,
backstage, working concessions, selling tickets at the box office,
producing shows, or enjoying herself in the audience. Cathy holds
a B.S. in Special Education and Elementary Education from the
State University of New York at Geneseo, and a Masters Degree
in Education, with a focus on Creative Arts in Learning, from
Lesley University.
Al Moniz has spent over 30 years creating and juggling and
entertaining in the Suspenders Juggling Troupe. He has taught
circus camps on Cape Cod for over 20 years and some of his
students have gone on to be successful street performers in
Boston and on tour with Circus Smirkus.
Lucy Nelson has a BFA, cum laude, from Denison University and
an MFA from Tufts University/School of the Museum of Fine
Arts, Boston. She is the Fine Art Department Chair at Falmouth
Academy and served as the Fine Art Department Chair at Verde
Valley School in Sedona, AZ. In addition to teaching, she has
exhibited her work nationally and continues to create work in
her studio. Although, she’s mainly a painter, she loves working in

Sandy Nickerson’s classrooms combine a fabulous blend of
art history and hands on experience. Her extensive teaching
includes many years as director of the Bridgeview School, Cape
Cod Conservatory, and FA Summer Programs. As a practicing
artist, she is well versed in all paper media and offers students
the opportunity to explore drawing, painting, and printmaking
combined.
Colin O’Brien graduated from West Point, where he majored
in English and played on the junior varsity lacrosse team. He
currently teaches English and History at Falmouth Academy and
serves as an assistant coach for the varsity lacrosse team.
Henry Stevens is in his third year as the Boy’s Varsity Basketball
coach at Falmouth Academy where he also teaches math. Henry
came to FA after playing in the Men’s Varsity Basketball team for
4 years at Union College in Schenectady, NY. Henry is also a coach
for Metro Boston, a nationally recognized AAU team based out
of Roxbury, MA.
Kimberly Ulmer loves the intersection of art and science.
She believes that the brain solidifies concepts and details in
different ways when thinking creatively. She has worked at
Marine Biological Laboratory and currently teaches Biology and
Aquaculture at Tabor Academy. She graduated with a BA in

Jacek Zuzanski is a professional actor, stage director, designer and
teacher who has worked in theatre for 30 years. His sensitivity
and passion for the arts inspire the young to learn. With his
Dream Tale Puppets theatre he performs in libraries, schools and
cultural centers all over Massachusetts. His latest educational
projects include workshops at the Puppet Showplace Theatre of
