Fabric Flowers Wreath Tutorial
A burlap bow + buttons + fabric flowers = one dynamite wreath. The beauty of
this project is that its personality is dependent upon the fabric that you choose
for your flowers. Ours – bursting with beautiful red & green blooms – celebrates

that’s a wrap!
1. Cut burlap into 2-1/2” x 1 yd strips.
The number of strips needed will be determined by
how much you overlap them. For an 18” wreath, we
used 13 strips, overlapping approximately 1/2”.
2. Zig zag stitch the edges.
don’t want it unravel too much!
3. Wrap the strips around the styrofoam base, and
glue as you go.

fabric quantity
We made 28 flowers with 6 different fabric prints.
28 flowers x 2 pcs (front & back) = 56 - 6x6” squares

5. Following the instructions on the Steam-a-Seam2®
package, sandwich a layer of the fusible web
between 2 pieces of fabric.
Tips & Techniques
Steam-a-Seam 2
You can make 3 flowers per sheet of fusible
web, if you piece together the leftover pieces
from the first two cuts.

6. Press the two pieces together.
This will make the fabric stiff enough to hold its
shape, but pliable enough to work with.
7. Fold the fabric in half 3 times.
8. Cut off the corners to create the petal edges

You can also wait until all the flowers are safe
and secure on the wreath before you add the
embellishments to each flower.

13. Using a hammer, carefully tap the floral pins until
they puncture the fabric just under the center
brad/embellishment. Push the rest of the way in.
14. Insert all the flowers and leave about a 6” space
at the top for the bow. Add a dab of hot glue
under each flower to be safe.

17. To prevent the V-shape cut from unraveling, zig
zag stitch the edges or apply Fray Check®.
18. Gather the center of the streamer and stitch.
19. Tack and glue the streamer into place first.
20. While creating two separate loops, sew together
the ends of the bow loop pieces with a 1” seam.
21. Press the seams open, and layer the two separate
loops with the smallest one on top.

23. To attach to the wreath, insert floral pins underneath
the top loop of the bow. Add a little hot glue for
insurance.
You’re Done.
