FRIENDS OF THE VICTORIA GARDEN HERITAGE WEEKEND 10th - 13th SEPTEMBER Victoria Garden is included in the Heritage Weekend Trail and will be open to Friends and visitors as usual. It will be manned by Volunteers on Saturday 12th September, who will be demonstrating the making of winter containers and giving gardening advice. PLANT SALE SATURDAY, 9th MAY, 10 a.m. – Noon Hazelbank Plant Nursery will be supplying us again this year with a range of bedding and vegetable plants. If anyone has any interesting plants, preferably in 1 litre pots, they would like to donate, we would be very grateful. John Negus will be on hand to answer gardening questions, there will be a gardening themed raffle and tickets for the Beryl Mackay Lecture will be on sale to the public - if there are any left! COFFEE MORNING SATURDAY 6th JUNE 10:30 a.m. – 12.00 noon The venue for this year's Coffee Morning is the garden of Mrs Anne Tweed, 9 Upper Old Park Lane. This is a charming, south facing garden with lots of interesting evergreens and lovely views. Tickets are £5 per person, which includes coffee and biscuits, friends of members are more than welcome. GARDEN VISIT WEDNESDAY, 22nd JULY 2.30pm - 4.30pm MONKSFIELD Charles Hill, Tilford, Farnham, Surrey GU10 2AL Monksfield, owned by Mr and Mrs Mark Reynolds, is situated on the B3001 Farnham to Elstead road, approximately half a mile south of the junction with Crooksbury Road. The garden is ten and a half acres with an orchard/walled garden, 300ft long border and formal garden to the south of the house, cottage garden, wildlife pond and a large selection of specimen trees There is an internal road allowing for wheelchair access to many parts of the grounds. Tickets this year will be £10.00 per person to cover the cost of admission and tea. If you have friends who would like to join us, please do invite them. POSSIBLE VISIT TO DUNSBOROUGH PARK, RIPLEY, SPRING NEXT YEAR Dunsborough Park is a privately owned house, just 6 miles north-east of Guildford, with gardens extending to 62 acres. The garden is open for only a few of days during the year for the NGS and their Tulip Festival. Some10,000 tulip bulbs which are planted each year in the formal areas are removed at the end of the season and replanted in a naturalistic way in the estate's meadows. There are several websites describing the gardens giving further information. This could be a possibility for next year's Garden Visit.
