Module Code: Module Title: Programme Type of Module Modular Credits : : : : : Prerequisite Anti-requisite Aims: : : AV-4311 Advanced Environmental Remote Sensing: Focus on Borneo Bachelor of Arts Major Option/Breadth Student Workload: 4 8 – 10 hours per week Contact Hours for 2 hours per week timetabling: AV-3301 Introduction to Remote Sensing None The module is designed to provide students with a solid foundation for advanced knowledge and skills in the use and applications of satellite remote sensing technology to a range of environmental issues and problems confronting Borneo. These issues include, but not limited, to drought and wildfires, tropical forest productivity, habitat loss, coastal/estuarine depletion, and peatland resources. The module will also provide new information on current trends in geo-spatial technologies and research, and how these could be applied to manage and provide possible solutions to local (Borneo) environmental problems. Module Content: Hyperspectral remote sensing Data fusion techniques Microwave remote sensing and interpretation Digital terrain/ digital elevation modeling (DEM) Accuracy assessment and field techniques GIS integration Case studies of different environmental issues and topics Assessment : Examination: 40% Coursework : 3 x Practical assignments 60% Textbook(s)/References : Curran P.
