5-4 What Will You Be?
They never stop asking me:
“What will you be?
A doctor, a dancer
A diver at sea?”
They never stop bugging me:
”What will you be?”
As if they expect me to
Stop being me.
5-5 Pour Ma Mère Il y a plus de fleurs
Pour ma mère, en mon cœur,
Que dans tous les vergers;
Plus de merles rieurs
Pour ma mère, en mon cœur,
Que dans le monde entier;
Et bien plus de baisers
Pour ma mère, en mon cœur,
Qu’on ne pourrait en donner.

6-5 Trees
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the sweet earth’s flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fool like me,
But only God can make a tree.
6-6 Chevalure
J'ai un cheval qui galope
Souple comme une antilope;
Un beau cheval qui prend l'air
Dans mon pré imaginaire.
Sur le chemin de l'école
Avec moi il caracolait.
Nos crinères s'enlacent
Un trop court moment hélas!
Et quand tombent mes paupières
Je deviens son écuyère
Je lui dis: Allons, pleins gaz!
Du coup, il devient Pégase.

GRADE 7 (using a pen and writing)
7-3 Indian Summer
Along the line of smoky hills
The crimson forest stands,
And all the day the blue-jay calls
Throughout the autumn lands.
Now by the brook the maple leans
With all his glory spread;
And all the sumachs on the hills
Have turned their green to red.
7-4 Chanson D'Automne
Les sanglots longs
Des riolons
De l'automne
Blessent mon coeur
D'une longueur
Monotone.
Tout suffocant
Et blême, quand
Sonne l'heure
Je me souviens
Des jours anciens
Et je pleure.
Now, by great marshes wrapt in mist,
Or past some river's mouth,
Throughout the long still autumn day
Wild birds are flying south.
GRADE 8 (using a pen and writing)
8-3 The Song Of The Ski
Norse am I when the first snow falls:
Norse am I till the ice departs.
The fare for which my spirit calls
Its blood from a hundred Viking-hearts.
8-4 Mon Cartable
Mon cartable a mille odeurs.
Mon cartable sent la pomme,
Le livre, l’encre, la gomme,
Et les crayons de couleurs.
Mon cartable sent l’orange,
Le buisson et le nougat.
Il sent tout ce que l’on mange
Et ce qu’on ne mange pas.
La figue et la mandarine,
Le papier d’argent ou d’or,
Et la coquille marine,
Les bateaux sortant du port.
Les longs cheveux de ma mère
Et les joues de mon papa,
Les matins dans la lumière,
La rose et le chocolat.
The curved wind wraps me like a cloak:
The pines blow out their ghostly smoke.
I'm high on the hill and ready to go A wingless bird in a world of snow:
Yet I'll ride the air
With a dauntless dare
That only a child of the north can know.

BENEFIT OF BEES:
Bees are necessary to cross-pollinate many plants. Without cross-pollination, we would be unable to produce large crops of fruit
(apples, pears, peaches, cherries, strawberries, raspberries, cranberries, blueberries, etc). Bees also cross-pollinate many farm crops
and greatly increase their yield (clover, canola, soybeans, etc). Many home garden vegetables also depend on bees for pollination
(beans, cucumbers, pumpkins, squash, currants, melons, etc). Although honey bees are mainly kept for the honey and wax they
produce their chief benefit to us is pollination. Many wild bees also pollinate our crops (bumblebees, leaf cuter bees, etc). Honey
bees are mainly kept for the honey they produce and are also used to gather pollen for food and propolis (a resinous substance from
plants) which is used by bees to seal up cracks, etc. in their home. Propolis is used by humans for medical purposes. Bee sting
venom is also used for medical purposes.
