first 12 Portas Pilots towns from a national
competition of over 370 towns. This is a
massive coup for the town. The win not
only attracts Government funding but also
attracts wide national media attention and

Portas herself. One of the main priorities
for the Nelson Portas Pilot was to generate
younger footfall in Nelson. Local young
people and students came up with the

Pendle Open Art Exhibition is 28 years old this year and is one of the
biggest art exhibitions held locally. For three days in October, The ACE
Centre is showcasing artists from the beginner to the professional.
During this time we will also have an art and craft fair inside The ACE
Centre, an artist swap shop open every lunchtime and an outdoor Art
and Vintage Market in the Nelson town centre. The Ace Bistro is open
too, so come for a coffee and a cake, buy a piece of affordable art and
do all this while choosing a vintage outfit or new piece of furniture.
