“The Spirit gives Life” John 6:63
Welcome to the Hudsonville Christian School Auction!
The HCS school theme this year is “God’s Spirit - Alive in Me!”
In keeping with this, we chose John 6:63 as our auction verse, “The Spirit gives life.” At Hudsonville Christian
School, children are learning and growing in their faith as they are taught daily in the light of God’s word.
May they, and we, continue to be rooted in His word, grow in truth, and bear much fruit. Thank you for attending
this auction as we celebrate and support HCS in its mission of challenging hearts and minds for Christ!
THANK YOU!!
We praise God for His care, guidance, and provision. His Spirit gives us life!
We are so thankful for the generosity & support of SO MANY who helped make this auction possible:
-Businesses, HCS families, Teachers/Staff, and Septemberfest vendors for all their wonderful donations.
-30+ Caller Runners who contacted donors and collected donations from many businesses and friends.
-Linda Kellar and Linda Witte for answering many questions and providing support.
-Jack Elgersma and his crew for setup and clean up support.
-Steve Schnyders for computer and technical support.
-Volunteers in the kitchen and dessert room, for computer entry, cashiering, and greeting.
-Marcy Sterken and Greta Huizenga, for planning the food and overseeing the kitchen at the auction.
-Rick and Sue Van Dis for providing the delicious BBQ.
-Thad Lubbers, for his auctioneering services.
-Nolan Snoeyink, 6th Grader, who created our slide show for the auction.
-Bidders, for your generosity! Your support is greatly appreciated!

SILENT BIDDING: will begin at 4:15 PM. We have HUNDREDS of wonderful items, ranging in value from a
few dollars to a few hundred dollars! Bids are placed by writing your bid number, initials, and the amount of your
bid on the bid sheet. We ask that you raise bids by whole dollar amounts.
Please note these Silent Auction closing times:

Food Certificates - closing at 6:40 PM
Family Certificates - closing at 6:50 PM

BUY-A-LINE: Items have a specific number of lines offered at a specific dollar amount. Bidders may
purchase as many lines as they wish, and choose the numbered lines they would like to put their name/bid number
on. Bidding starts at 4:15 PM and ends when all lines are purchased. Later in the evening, a line number will be
drawn and that bidder wins the item. All bidders pay for the lines they bid on, whether or not they win the item.
PICK-A-PRIZE: Purchase a paper apple from our “Fruit Stand” for $10. Buy 3 or more paper apples and
receive a free HCS Tumbler! During the LIVE auction, all bidders with paper apples will come to our “Fruit Tree”
and pick an apple ornament for each paper apple purchased. Each apple ornament will be numbered. We will draw
numbers to see who our winners will be! The first number drawn will be our first winner to pick their prize.
Second and third winners to follow. What will the prizes be? Here’s a hint: All prizes are Apple products!
LIVE AUCTION: Please come to the gym for opening prayer and announcements at 6:15 PM, before we turn
the auction over to our auctioneer, Mr. Thad Lubbers. There will be a few breaks during the Live Auction to award
the Buy-A-Line Drawings and to do our Pick-A-Prize Drawing.
The FINALE to our Auction will be the“Buy-A-Line” Drawings for an iPAD and a Moped Scooter!
Who will go home with the iPad? Who will win the scooter? Stay til the end of the auction to find out!
DINNER AND DESSERT: We will feature pulled pork BBQ sandwiches from Rick and Sue Van Dis. Other
menu items include hot dogs, coleslaw, beans, chips, candy, pop, milk, and coffee. Don’t forget to visit the dessert
room for a delicious treat! We’ll have Bake Sale items available if you’d like to take a goodie home with you as well.
You may pay for your food with cash, check, or your bid number. The kitchen will be open from 5:00-7:00 PM. The
dessert room will remain open until 7:30 PM.
CHECK-OUT:
1. Get your invoice from the computer tables.
We will enter winning bids into our computers and do our best to keep bidders‘ accounts as up-to-date as
possible through the evening. Please allow a few minutes after your last purchase before getting an invoice
summarizing your purchases for the evening. Look it over for accuracy and then proceed to the cashiers.
2. Pay for your purchases and pick up certificates at the cashier tables.
Payment can be made by cash, check, or credit card.
As per IRS regulations, you may only claim a tax deduction on the portion of the purchase price that EXCEEDS the
fair market value of the item. Items listed as priceless are 100% charitable contribution. Per Revenue ruling
67-246, amounts paid for chances to participate in the drawings (Buy-A-Line Drawings, Pick-A-Prize) are not
eligible as tax deductions.
