May Principal Message Dear Fales Friends, The safety of our students, staff, and families is of the utmost importance to our school district and all of us here at Fales School. The Fales Safety Committee has met multiple times this year to review and refine building security and safety protocols. This year, students and staff have participated in evacuation drills and an intruder drill in the fall. Officer Chip Dapolite, our School Resource Officer, and Firefighter/Inspector Ken Milligan from the Westborough Fire Department, have been very impressed with all of our drills. They have both noted that our students and staff take the drills seriously and follow the protocols carefully. As we enter the season of large school or grade level events, we ask for your understating and patience with our sign-in protocols. We cannot thank you enough for your continued support as we work together to keep everyone safe. Fales Character Education Update: We continue to review and practice our Fales Code of Character as a school community. In the month of April we focused on the importance of Self-Control. Self- Control is truly the foundation of CARES. In order to be successful with each of the character values, we must first have Self-Control. We have truly worked to practice Self-Control during less structured times of the day like recess, lunch, and simply walking through the hallways. During the months of May and June we will review the importance of each of the character values in CARES. As always, we thank you for reviewing CARES (Cooperation, Act with Kindness, Respect, Responsibility, Empathy, Self-Control) at home. Our Character Education Council will meet on Wednesday, May 6th at 3:15 in the Fales library to review the year and set goals for the 2015-2016 school year. Fales Diversity Council Update: We would like to thank all of the families that were able to participate in our Cultural Festival on April 11th. We are very grateful for the efforts of the students, staff, and families that volunteered to bring to life this fantastic event! The Fales Diversity Council will meet on Tuesday, May 12th at 8:00 A.M. in the Fales library to review the year and set goals for next year. Please email Mrs. Stannard if you plan to attend so we are able to welcome you to the meeting. PARRC Testing Reminder Parents of third graders please note the importance of attendance the week of PARCC testing as these are state mandated tests. We encourage students to get a full night of sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and to arrive to school on time on testing days. The following are the dates of our End of Year PARCC Tests: Monday, May 18th, Tuesday, May 19th, and Wednesday, May 20th.
