Presented by: “Rage and Responsibility” by Luis Garcia, La Sierra High School B E S T I N S H O W 2 015 Dear Reception Guest: On behalf of The Press-Enterprise, I welcome you to the 53rd Annual Riverside County High School Art Show at the Riverside Art Museum. Riverside County is home to several wonderful institutions that promote and celebrate the arts. The Riverside Art Museum is certainly among my favorites. As longtime sponsor of the county’s longest-running art show, The Press-Enterprise proudly supports students’ love for the visual arts. The Art Show plays an important role in encouraging students at Riverside County High Schools to pursue their interests in the arts. Young artists gain invaluable experience by putting their paintings, drawings, photography, and sculptures on display in a professional museum setting. Most importantly, their confidence as artists grows when the community attends and shows their support. The Press-Enterprise is honored to showcase their talents in the newspaper and celebrate their achievements. Please look for our coverage of the art show on April 18, and help us celebrate students’ accomplishments in the visual and performing arts each week in Monday’s Varsity Arts section. Thank you for your support of Riverside County High School Art Show and The Press-Enterprise. Rich Mirman Publisher, The Press-Enterprise Drawing “Beauty of Wisdom” by Julia Reynolds John W. North High School PE Sponsorship Award Dear Friend of the Museum, On behalf of the Riverside Art Museum, congratulations to the artists featured in the 53rd Annual Press-Enterprise Riverside County High School Art Show! You all join us in a great tradition that for generations has highlighted the creativity, vision, and skill demonstrated by our student artists. We hope that this is just the beginning of these students’ journeys as artists, and that they will continue to create and exhibit art in Riverside. We commend the teachers and parents of these students, who have gone the extra mile to ensure they receive the recognition their great work merits. With one in six jobs in Southern California now being in the creative industries, these teachers and parents are helping prepare the students for jobs in today’s market. We are deeply grateful to Renee Lees and the Press-Enterprise for their extensive efforts to produce this exhibition. Lastly, I would like to thank RAM staff Allen Morton and Ai Kelley, whose efforts made this exhibition possible. In addition, I would like to thank our volunteers and interns for their assistance with the artwork intake as well as the team of volunteer judges who had the difficult task of selecting the winners. We hope that these students and you will join us at RAM by becoming museum members, enhancing your artistic skills through classes, or returning many times throughout the year to view our changing exhibitions. For more information on exhibits, events, classes, and memberships, please visit www.RiversideArtMuseum.org. Also find us on Facebook (/riversideartmuseum) and Twitter (RAMriverside).
