Joan Griffith is a guitarist, bassist, mandolinist and music educator. She teaches at the
university of St Thomas and at Macalester college.
Claire AltendahlGuitar
Claire Altendahl started playing guitar when she was 9 after receiving a guitar for her birthday. She took guitar lessons from School of Rock when she was 12 and continued with the
program for 4 years before deciding to pursue jazz more intensely, which led her to study
under Joan Griffith. Currently Claire is a high school senior at Eagan high school but also
attends McNally Smith College of music as a PSEO student. Next year she will be attending
Berklee College of Music.

Offering Recipient: High School Boston Pilgrimage
This June, the First Universalist Church Senior High Class will be heading to Boston for our
Unitarian Universalist pilgrimage. The Boston Pilgrimage is a formative part our youth’s
religious education. We explore the Unitarian Universalist sights and we learn about our
history, leaders, and theology. This year, we will focus our learning and exploration on the
Unitarian Universalist involvement, both past and present, in racial justice and other social
justice movements.
