SRSB School Improvement Survey
Getting to Great invites all parents/guardians,
teachers, and students in Grades 4 to 12 to share
information that will help us improve our
schools. Our goal is to make every school a great
school, but we cannot get to great without you.
Your voluntary participation in this survey will
help to identify the strengths and challenges at
our school so we can enhance the opportunities
our school holds for all students to learn. Your
input is extremely important in helping us make
improvements that will directly impact your
child’s learning and school experience.
The online survey is available from Thursday,
February 26, 2015, to Friday, March 13,
2015.
Please
visit
the
website:
http://srsbsurvey.hrsb.ns.ca/ select Felix Marchand
Education Centre to start the survey. You are
welcome to complete a survey for each child
attending our school. Please remember, all
survey information is anonymous and is not used
to evaluate individuals. At the end of the survey,
you will find space to make any additional
comments you wish to share with us
anonymously.
Home and School News
Our Home and School is currently involved in
our school cookbook fundraiser. We hope to
have the book completed by Easter. Our Home
and School will also be selling tickets on an
Easter Basket. All students will be getting five
books of tickets to sell. Our next meeting is
Monday, March 2 at 6:30.
March Break Fun Day
SchoolsPlus and Richmond Recreation will be
offering a FREE FUN DAY at the FELIX
MARCHAND EDUCATION CENTRE during
March Break!
Dietitian’s Corner:
Shelley LeBlanc,PDt 902-625-7904
The cold weather is still here, and how can we
make sure our kids keep healthy to prevent
disease? With your help of course 
For health benefits, children (aged 5-11 years)
should minimize the time they spend being
sedentary each day. This may be achieved by:
Limit recreational screen time to no more
than 2 hours per day; lower levels are
associated with additional health benefits
(screen time includes smart phones, tv,
computers, tablets, electronic games)
Limit sedentary (motorized) transport,
extended sitting and time spent indoors
throughout the day.
Resource : Canadian Sedentary Behavior Guidelines
(5-11y)
The fun day will be on MARCH 18th from 10:00
AM to 3:00 PM.
Parents are asked to sign children in
starting at 9:30 AM and out starting at 3
PM. The day will consist of ZUMBA and
(weather permitting) outdoor activities in the
morning, and a movie and snacks in the
afternoon. Students from grade Primary to 4
are welcome!
Please bring gym clothing, and indoor shoes as
well as outdoor clothing (hats, mittens, snow
pants etc…). Lunch will be provided.
Students will be provided with a registration
form that must be completed and returned to
their homeroom teacher before MARCH 10TH in
order to participate.
