Fonda Speedway Driver/Crew of the Year Challenge Divisions include – Modified, Sportsman, Pro Stock Purpose and Objective: To see who the best Driver/Crew is at Fonda Speedway by devising a format where teams can compete against one another in three unique divisions. To give the fans another opportunity to root on their favorite driver and crew! Format: Regular heat races will be run for that night’s selected division. The top (2) finishers from each heat race will stay on the infield after they cross the scales to compete in a one on one elimination race after the last qualifying heat. No changes can be made to the car after the car has qualified. The car must pass any technical inspection after the heat race. The two cars with the slowest lap times will be the first to run against each other. The slowest car will have lane choice. The winner of that round will then race the next slowest lap timer until we have a winner. This will be a winner takes all format with points awarded for each position. Breakdown: If Two Heat Races: We will take the top 3 (three) finishers from each heat to run the elimination race. If Three Heat Races: We will take the top 2 (two) finishers from each heat to run the elimination race. If Four Heat Races: We will take the top 2 (two) finishers from each heat, the two cars with the slowest lap times will automatically be eliminated to give us a total of six competing in the elimination race. Points as follows: 1st – 20 2nd – 10 3rd – 8 4th—6 5th –4 6th –2 (Note: This is a separate point system and does not count towards your class points) Driver/Crew of the Year Challenge Page 1 of 2 Only one division will compete on a specified week; each class will have an opportunity to run (2) two elimination race nights. We will schedule a rain date or make up if needed so each class has (2) two elimination nights. All divisions will run an equal amount of elimination races towards the points system. On 8/15/15 a pit crew competition for a bonus point round where the points that are listed previously are doubled. The pit crew competition will consist of a timed Right Rear Tire Change on the front straightaway for the top (6) six cars in driver/crew of the year challenge points (top 2 in pro stock, top 2 in modified & top 2 in sportsman). The fastest tire changer will earn 1st place points and the slowest 6th place points. Pit crew members can only be pulled into the same divisions pit crews if help is needed. A maximum of (3) three pit crew members plus driver will be used for the tire change. If we have a point’s tie in the respective class elimination rounds, the slowest lap timers will be eliminated and the top (2) two will advance to the bonus round.
