WELCOME
Welcome to the Dream Factory!
Congratulations!
You are about to embark on an exciting, legacy-building adventure that will impact
many people’s lives.
You are also ready to start a new small business as a self-publisher. When you become
a self-publisher, you will find yourself involved in many business activities, such as
fundraising, promotion, advertising, public appearances, speaking engagements,
publicity, social network marketing, etc.
Publishing a book can also be very beneficial to your career, as you will have the
opportunity to share your professional expertise and inspiring messages with a
broad audience.
In order to simplify and expedite the production for you, we have published this
Author’s Guide, which will give you the information you need to prepare and submit
your manuscript, give our designers information and creative guidance, as well as to
plan your fundraising, promotional, and branding plan as we work on the production
aspects of your book.
Because we are a high quality, specialized, small boutique regional publisher, we offer
exceptional excellence, personal support, and ministering to all our authors, which
other national on-demand publishers usually can’t provide because of their volume.
We encourage you to carefully read this Guide. If you have additional questions, please
call 423.591.0781 for support.
We pray that you and your readers will be blessed through this endeavor.
Blessings,
FBP Staff

FAQ’s
General Clarifications and Most
Common Questions
n
What is the Concept Behind On Demand Publishing?
The concept is simple: We help your write, produce, and internationally distribute the book. You promote it.
Instead of filling your garage with books that may never sell, we print only what is needed to meet your current demand whether that’s a single book or 10,000. And you’ll profit from every sale, either made by you directly or through one of the
major online booksellers.
Once an order is placed, we have all the electronic data necessary to print and deliver the book to its intended
destination. The distance between book-maker and book-reader has never been shorter. Instead of worrying about
logistics and inventory management, your only job is to market the book and reap the benefits.
Once the book is entered into our system, your title is ready to start generating profits on every sale and information about
your title enters the catalogs of the world’s largest distribution channel of wholesalers, retailers, and booksellers.
Not only are we fast, we are good!
When it comes to producing books, speed is not our only strength. We work fast, but we also pay close attention to
personal relationships with our authors and craftsmanship, conducting 10 quality control checks on each book before it is
shipped.
We keep your spec options wide open. Choose from all the most popular book types, bindings, and trim sizes.
Our sharp graphics and crisp text make it virtually impossible to distinguish our on-demand books from offset copies. Our
facilities are equipped with the most advanced technology in the world, delivering great products in the most efficient and
effective manner, and we are committed to continuous improvement as new innovations prove viable.
n
What do I have to do to begin the process?
To begin the book publishing process you should submit to Foresight:
o Final version of your manuscript ready for editing (if applicable)
o Complete Foresight’s Creative Brief Form
o Submit the author’s picture for the book back cover with a brief author’s bio
o Sign Foresight’s Publishing Agreement
o Send a check or pay online 50% of your package’s price
o Complete the interviewing process with your assigned ghostwriter who will help you write the book
with expediency.
You can submit the above documents via E-mail as an attachment to: [email protected]

FAQ’s
General Clarifications and Most
Common Questions
n
What is a revision?
Revisions or alterations are small or spot corrections, such as fixing typos, adding in missing words, and so on. These can
also be minor changes to your text before your book goes into production. Once the interviewing process with your writer
is complete, you will receive a copy of the preliminary manuscript for your editing and approval. After the first round of
editing by the author, he/she will have an additional round of minor revisions before we charge an additional alteration
charge per round of changes.
Alterations to the cover design are minor changes like color and font style/size. Any major artistic departure from the first
cover design concept shall be billed at our normal rates of $300 per cover and $250 for the book interior.
n
What is ghostwriting?
Ghostwriting is the process by which a professional writer writes a book for another person based on their ideas, plot
points, and vision. The person who the ghostwriter writes the book for is deemed the author and is credited for the
creation of the book. The term “ghostwriter” is used because the writer remains anonymous during this process and does
not receive credit.
n
Will the ghostwriter change my thoughts?
No. The ghostwriter’s job is to ensure that the words in the book retain your views, thoughts, vision, and voice. The
ghostwriter assigned to your book will be bound by contract to write the story you tell them and will not have authority to
change it without written permission of the author.
n
Is ghostwriting ethical?
The simple answer to both of these questions is yes, and here is why. Ghostwriting is a common practice in the world
of book publishing, especially among nonfiction books. In fact, almost 80% of all books on the current market are
ghostwritten. This is because many books today sell by name, meaning publishers are more likely to sign a book written
by an already famous author or well-known celebrity. Regarding the latter, celebrities, politicians, and well-versed
businessmen do not have time to write a 200-plus-page novel. Do you think Hilary Clinton took six months out of her busy
schedule to sit in front of a computer and type out her life story? Of course not. Instead, a ghostwriter penned down what
she wanted the book to discuss and then wrote the book from her perspective. Does this make Hilary’s book any less her
own? Again, no, because the idea for the book came from her own mind. The ghostwriter simply did what Hilary didn’t
have time to do—put the idea to paper.
This applies to your book too. You, like Hilary and other celebrities, have a demanding career that needs your attention.
But you also have a story within you that needs to be told. The process of ghostwriting a book is a collaborative effort
between two professionals—one who provides the story content and one who has the knowledge to put that content into
literary form. Our ghostwriters are trained to transcribe your words and arrange them into a captivating, flowing narrative.
Therefore, the printed product is completely yours, unveiling your life’s story in the way you want it told.

EDITORIAL SERVICES
When you turn in a manuscript to Foresight Book Publishing, you will also need to choose a level of editorial servicing you
want done. Foresight offers three types of editing for manuscripts.
Level 1—Proofreading: basic review of spelling and grammar usage, including tense and pronoun agreement and
punctuation revision
*All manuscripts sent to Foresight for publication will be proofread no matter what. It is important for someone
outside the writing process to review a book for mistakes, as fresh eyes can find things that someone involved
could have unknowingly skipped over. Proofreading manuscripts ensures that what you publish is quality work.
Level 2—Substantive Editing: basic review of spelling and grammar usage, as well as “big picture idea”
recommendations and rearranging of already written content to increase flow and readability
Level 3—Comprehensive Editing: basic review of spelling and grammar usage, “big picture idea” recommendations,
subject research, and partial rewriting/ghostwriting to enhance continuity, readability, and clarity
*This level of editing is used mainly for those who come in with a partial manuscript and want one of our
ghostwriters to complete the project for them. It can be used with a completed manuscript, but only to rewrite
portions of the book and add smaller sections for the readers’ benefit. This service is not meant to rewrite your
entire book. Doing so would prolong the publishing process and would necessitate the purchase of one of our two
primary publishing packages (see “Basic Publishing Package” and “Premium Publishing Package” sections).

WHAT WE WILL NOT PUBLISH
Submissions We Will Not Accept for Publishing:
Because our business has been established to glorify God and is based on Judeo-Christian Biblical beliefs and God’s
moral code, we have chosen to be selective with the work we accept in our catalog. Many publishers will publish whatever
makes money, irrespective of morals, values, or its redeeming value to humanity.
We believe that a book is a sacred legacy that God allows you to leave to society. Therefore, we have established the
following guidelines that our business abides by:
• We do not accept for publishing any work that doesn’t have an uplifting, redeeming, and
encouraging message, based on Godly moral principles.
• We will not publish any work that offends or denies the deity of Jesus Christ or the triune nature of God.
• We will not publish unbiblical, “trendy,” or “cultural” theology, such as prosperity doctrine,
propaganda revivals, or man-made prophesy.
• We will not publish any material that represents or promotes the confusion of Biblical gender roles,
such as homosexuality, or social and political agendas, such as women in spiritual authority over men.
• We will not publish manuscripts that contain coarse words, vulgar language, that are crude,
sexually explicit, or that contain excessive physical violence.
• We will not publish any work that denigrates or disrespects women or any other human being in any way.
• We will not publish any work that is libelous or slanderous in content, or any other material
that may be deemed illegal or immoral.

GHOSTWRITING
Many people look at our business model and instantly pull away, and we can see why. Ghostwriting, though increasingly
popular in the current market, is kind of like an open secret in the publishing world. Many readers feel as if their trust has
been broken when they find out the book they are reading wasn’t actually written by the person whose name is on the
cover. We get it: the magic is gone, the curtain has been pulled back. But here is why readers shouldn’t feel that way and
why you should feel comfortable using a ghostwriter for your book—because there is a difference between an author and
a writer.
Though the mainstream definition of an author is a writer of a published work, there is actually another definition of this
same term. According to the Oxford Dictionary, an author is also “an originator or creator of something, especially a plan
or idea.” To author something doesn’t necessarily mean to write it down and publish it. Rather, an author is anyone who
comes up with an original idea. Simple as that. A writer, on the other hand, is a person who physically writes down the
idea and puts it into a readable form. This person does not have to be the originator of the idea, as many people have
written down ideas that were not theirs without giving due credit (also known as plagiarism). The people who put words
to paper are writers, but not necessarily authors. So, the author of a book can still be the person whose name is on the
cover even if it was written by someone else, an unnamed person in most ghostwriting situations.
An everyday example of the writer-author differentiation can be seen in journalism. A journalist is a writer but not an
author. Why? Because the journalist didn’t make up the events he is writing about, but he is merely retelling them in his
own words. In the same way, ghostwriters are like investigative journalists, digging up information for an extended story.
They perform a series of in-depth interviews where they collect information from the author regarding details of how the
book should sound, how it should be written, and, most importantly, the message the book should convey to readers.
Usually during these interviews, the author moves from various talking points back and forth, making it the writer’s job
to take the talking points and organize them into a neatly ordered book. After the interviews have come to a close, the
ghostwriter then takes all the information provided by the author and puts it into a form that is easy and enjoyable to
read.
The ghostwriting process is very much a collaborative effort between two professionals in specialized fields. The author,
the creator of the book, is the source of information. The author is the only person who knows all there is to know about
the content of the book. For example, only a real estate agent knows the top ten sure-fire ways to sell your home in
thirty days. The real estate agent may know all the information about this topic, but doesn’t know anything about the
publishing business or how to write a book. On the other side of the spectrum is the writer, who knows nothing about how
to sell a home but knows exactly how to put together a bestselling book. When these two professionals come together,
a piece of art is created. The end result, however, ultimately belongs to the author, the source of book’s plot, because,
unless you’re a celebrity, readers buy books for what they say, not who said it. People read books for the stories they tell,
and the author is the originator of that story.

GHOSTWRITING
n
Definition of Key Roles
There are three key players in Foresight’s book production process—the author, the ghostwriter, and the Lead Writer. The
following is an explanation of each role.
• Author: the professional client seeking to publish a book. The author is the originator of the book’s central plot
and idea and, therefore, is the sole owner of the book at the end of production.
• Ghostwriter: the professional writer who will write the author’s book according to interviews conducted
beforehand. The ghostwriter will not have ownership of the book at the end of production.
• Lead Writer: a member of Foresight Book Publishing’s staff. The Lead Writer will be an integral part of the
process and will be actively involved in author-ghostwriter communication to ensure the project remains on
track for publishing deadline. Neither the Lead Writer nor Foresight Book Publishing will have ownership of the
book at the end of production.
n
Ghostwriting Contract
As a client of Foresight, the author is the sole owner of the rights to his book. This means that, according to the copyright
laws of the Library of Congress, Foresight Book Publishing and the ghostwriter will not receive any royalties or credit for
the publication of the book. Every ghostwriter will be bound by contract at the beginning of each project they participate
in, stating that he understands the book he writes is under rightful ownership of the author and not himself. The author
will have authority to specify the length of disclosure and terms of credit he wishes the ghostwriter to have. These options
are, but are not limited to the following:
• The ghostwriter will receive no credit on the cover, acknowledgement section, or anywhere else on the book.
The ghostwriter may not claim to have written any part of the book and his participation in the project must
remain confidential for the total length of the book’s copyright.
• The ghostwriter will not receive credit for the book in any written form, but is not bound by contract to verbally
deny his participation in the project.
• The ghostwriter will receive credit in the acknowledgement section as an aid in creating the book.
• The ghostwriter’s name will appear on the cover with mine (as coauthor, editor, contributing writer, etc.).
n
Reasons for Writing Process Timeline
We understand that writing a book is a creative process, but we also understand that this process can (and will) become
ongoing if it isn’t monitored. Therefore, we have created a writing process timeline for both the author and ghostwriter of
a project to follow to ensure the book is published in a timely fashion. While we want your book to be a quality product
that accurately represents you as a professional and individual, we also want your message to get out to the public as
quickly as possible so you can begin catalyzing your career.
Your book is a business. Ghostwriting is a business. For these reasons, we ask that writers and authors stick to their
designated timelines and guidelines as closely as possible. We say as closely as possible because we know life happens.
Things come up and schedules have to be rearranged. In these situations, please inform the other party of your conflict

and do your part as soon as your schedule allows. We are all professionals here and deserve to be treated as such.
Authors, your ghostwriter is your collaborator. Ghostwriters, the same goes for you. The book you publish is a small
business and we are all team members. Please act professionally and communicate with each other, sticking to the
writing process timeline that follows.
n
The Writing Process: FOR AUTHORS
We want to make publishing a book as easy as possible for professionals seeking to boost their credibility, which is why
we have adopted the ghostwriting system. We already have a well-balanced team of ghostwriters ready to take on the
challenge of collaborating with professionals, such as yourself, to create an inspiring piece of literature that speaks to
readers and showcases your unique business expertise.
Once you have signed a contract with Foresight, we will assign one of our talented writers to work alongside you in
creating the narrative. Just as you signed a contract with Foresight, the ghostwriter will sign a contract with you, agreeing
to any disclosure or confidentiality claims you want placed on the table for your book (see “Ghostwriting Contract” section
for more details). The ghostwriter will then contact you and the two of you will be responsible for communicating with
each other. All communication between the ghostwriter and the author will, in turn, be monitored by Foresight’s Lead
Writer to ensure that the project stays on track to meet the publishing deadline. The ghostwriter will conduct a series
of four interviews within a reasonable timeframe to collect the needed information to fill the pages of the book. These
interviews will fall under the following four categories: an initial introductory meeting, an interview about the author’s
personal life and background, an interview about the author’s professional expertise, and an interview regarding the
author’s vision for the book itself.
Once these interviews are completed in full, the writer will begin the writing process. We have given the ghostwriter an
allotted time of 45 business days in which to complete the manuscript. At the end of the workday on Friday of every
week (5 p.m.), the ghostwriter will send an update via email to the author and Foresight’s Lead Writer for review over the
weekend. The book update will include any content the writer has written within the week, ready for the author’s approval
and comments. The author will then have until 8 a.m. Monday to return the update with revisions and comments to the
writer. After this time Monday (unless a previous exchange has been made between the writer and author expressing the
need for an extension), the author will not be at liberty to correct that material or any previously reviewed book content
until the manuscript is sent to him in full for final revisions at the end of the writing process.
At the end of the writing process when the manuscript is complete, the writer will send the author and Foresight’s Lead
Writer the complete manuscript via email. The author will have a complete week (7 days) from the time of receiving the
manuscript to read through and mark any revisions that need to be made. Once the revision time is up, the author will
send the manuscript back to the writer with his comments, and the writer will make revisions accordingly. When all these
revisions are put into the system, the manuscript will go to Foresight’s Lead Writer for proofreading. Once proofread for
simple grammatical mistakes, the Lead Writer will send the manuscript to Foresight’s Graphic Artist for the book to be
formatted into a proper layout.
Once the graphics are put in place and the book has been fully formatted, a PDF proof of the complete book will be sent
to the author for final review. The author will have another week (7 days) to look over the design of the book, ensuring
everything is correct. Once the author sends back the manuscript with approval to print, the book will be sent to Ingram
and will become available for purchase online.

*We ask that all authors are extremely mindful that their signature on the final proof approval means that they have
looked over the manuscript carefully to ensure there are no mistakes in design or content. Any mistakes found after
publication will, therefore, be the fault of the author and not Foresight. Additionally, if mistakes are found after the
author’s approval has been sent in and the author wishes to correct the mistake before publication, a penalty charge
will be added to your final bill for halting production. Therefore, we ask that you please look over the final manuscript
with a fine-toothed comb before signing off on it.

Author-Ghostwriter-Lead Writer Communication
At Foresight Book Publishing, we want to ensure that there is a record for everything. Backing up any and all claims and
requests with physical proof is crucial when dealing with contracts and customers. Because of this, all communication,
especially requests and editorial inquiries, must be made via email. In order to back up all claims, Foresight requires all
communication between the author and ghostwriter be initiated or backed up in written form. This does not mean the
author and writer cannot converse over the phone. However, comments, publishing requests, and editorial changes
discussed over the phone cannot be traced back to the source if something gets lost in translation. Therefore it is to the
benefit of both parties to keep record of all communication with written proof during a project. We encourage both parties
to send email verification of all editorial communication made over the phone to ensure each party understands what
was discussed and has written evidence of the conversation.
The Lead Writer at Foresight will act as intermediary to ensure that a proper record of communication is being kept for
the sake of our office. The ghostwriter will be responsible for forwarding all written communications to the Lead Writer
and for keeping the Lead Writer up-to-date during the writing process. This allows Foresight to make sure the project
is progressing in accordance to deadline and that all parties are doing their designated part. Forwarding book updates
to the Lead Writer is also important because these updates determine when the ghostwriter is compensated along
the course of the project. Having this intermediary figure is important to our business model and is not meant to be a
dictatorial overseer, but helping hand to the project.
n
Changes and Revisions
Once the manuscript has been completely formatted into book form, the author will receive a digital copy (in PDF format)
of the book for the final review. As the author, you are responsible for reviewing the book and notifying Foresight’s Lead
Writer of any leftover mistakes that need to be changed before the book is uploaded onto the server to be printed.
Mistakes and typos come with the territory of writing, and sometimes these mistakes aren’t caught until close to the end
of the production process. This happens because a writer or author has looked at the material for so long that their brain
begins to fill in the holes where mistakes reside. For this purpose, we have created a Changes and Revisions Form that the
author is to fill out during his final review of the book. If you (the author) find any typos or formatting mistakes that need
to be fixed before printing, you will need to fill out the Changes and Revisions Form. Once you have completed this form
and your review of the book, the Lead Writer will look over the form and make only those corrections listed on the form.
The author will then receive another PDF of the updated book for review and approval of changes made.
Please Note the following about final changes and revisions:
• The Changes and Revisions Form is only meant to correct minor mistakes the author finds in the galley text and
cover design. This is not an opportunity for the author to add sections to the book, rewrite chapters, or completely
redesign the graphic art. This opportunity is long past. If you wish to make major editorial or design changes, you
will be charged to compensate for the additional work done on the book.
• All changes listed on the Changes and Revisions Form will be made exactly as the author lists them. Please be 100%
sure of your edits before you send them to the Lead Writer. Additionally, only those changes listed on the form will
be made. Stray changes sent after the fact through email or requested over the phone will not be made without a
charge. This is to keep you, the author, accountable for your actions and to ensure that you pay attention during the
editorial process.

• A true piece of art is never finished. Therefore, you will only have the opportunity to fill out the Changes and
Revisions Form ONCE. When you receive the PDF version of your book the second time (after reviewing it the first
time and making edits using the Changes and Revisions Form), you will not get the chance to make changes. You
will simply need to approve that the changes you requested were made. There will be a charge if you wish to make
changes on the second final proof. Again, this is to keep you accountable and attentive during the editorial process.
*We do not set up these guidelines because we do not care about mistakes. We care deeply about the quality of the books
we publish, as they reflect back on our company just as much as they reflect yours. However, mistakes in the written
word are inevitable. When you begin the timely process of writing a book, it is almost certain you are never going to get
everything 100% correct because humans aren’t perfect. So, if a mistake is found in your book after publication, please
remember that it happens to all authors and that the best efforts were made from all parties to make your book as clean
as possible.
