DEPLOYMENT SWIM WITH FATHER PAUL An 13.5 mile swim to benefit the Family Alliance for Veterans (FAVA) Chaplain (BG, Retired) Father Paul Lippstock was asked by Family Alliance for Veterans (FAVA), Forest City, to take part in a “Deployment with FAVA” event to assist in raising donations which will go toward FAVA’s building, vehicle funds and operating costs. Father Paul, an avid swimmer, will be swimming lengths to benefit the cause on Tuesday, May 26, at the Forest City YMCA from 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Father Paul plans to swim between 700 and 1400 lengths (70 lengths is one mile) and is asking for pledges for each length that he swims or for pre-set donations. In addition to the donations raised for FAVA, Father Paul will be praying for our Veterans, those living, missing-in-action and deceased. ABOUT FATHER PAUL HOW YOU CAN HELP! (COMPLETE THE ATTACHED FORM) Make a pledge Provide names of family members and/or friends (living or deceased) who are Veterans Record laps, write down names of Veterans on posters which will be displayed in the pool, and give names of Veterans to Father Paul as he swims Swim with, pace and encourage Father Paul as he swims and prays for our Veterans Come to the Y and root Father Paul on! As Father Paul swims, he can work himself up the ranks from E-1/Private to 0-10/5-Star General! WHEN: TIME: LOCATION: Father Paul is serving as a sacramental priest along with Father Dennis Miller as pastor for the Archangels Catholic Cluster (St Patrick in Britt, St Patrick in Buffalo Center, St Wenceslaus in Duncan, St James in Forest City, St Boniface in Garner and St Patrick in Lake Mills. In December 2013, he retired after serving 22 years in the Iowa Army National Guard as military chaplain. Chaplain Lippstock holds swimming records in his 2003-2004 deployment to the Sinai (in the Red Sea) and his 2006-2008 deployment to Iraq (in Saddham’s pool at Camp Victory). He has completed six swims to benefit various charities. Father Paul also worked 18 years at the Y in Dubuque as a swimmer’s aide, WSI Instructor, lifeguard and as an assistant director at the Dubuque Y Camp.
