« Mémoire autobiographique, schizophrénie et troubles de
l’identité personnelle »

« Mon principal domaine de recherche concerne les liens entre mémoire autobiographique et identité
personnelle (ou self) dans la schizophrénie.
Plus précisément, nos travaux réalisés avec Jean-Marie Danion et ses collaborateurs, ont pour objectif de
mieux comprendre la nature des perturbations de l’identité personnelle (ou self) qui touchent les patients
souffrant de schizophrénie. Ces troubles restent en effet mal compris à ce jour or ils sont à l’origine de
souffrances personnelles importantes chez les patients et conditionnent de nombreuses difficultés tant au
niveau social que professionnel. Les troubles de l’identité personnelle ont été identifiées dès les premières
descriptions de la maladie, mais leur analyse et leur compréhension n’ont jusqu’à présent reposé que sur une
approche clinique et philosophique. Nos travaux ont pour particularité de mettre à profit les concepts et les
méthodes des neurosciences cognitives pour analyser les mécanismes des perturbations de l’identité
personnelle dans la schizophrénie. Ils s’appuient sur le modèle de la mémoire autobiographique de Conway
(2005) qui opérationnalise les interactions réciproques unissant mémoire autobiographique et identité
personnelle. A partir de cette compréhension, nos travaux s'orientent actuellement vers la construction de
programmes de remédiation cognitive de la mémoire autobiographique adaptés aux patients schizophrènes. »
