1st ANNUAL FREEPORT HUDSON ANGLERS FLUKE FRENZY TOURNAMENT JULY 11, 2015 (Weather date July 12, 2015) I. PURPOSE: The Freeport Hudson Anglers Fluke Tournament is a charitable sporting event designed to encourage and promote rod and reel angling, good sportsmanship and fair competition for both our Adult division and our Junior division (up to 16 years of age) participants. WE FULLY SUPPORT THE FISHERMAN SEND A KID FISHING PROGRAM. II. ELIGIBILITY: Open to children up to 16 years of age (Junior division) and all adults wishing to fish (Adult division). III. ENTRY: The entry fee for the Junior division is $10.00 per angler. The entry fee for Adults is $25.00 per angler. A liability waiver must be signed by every adult entering the Tournament. Participants in the Junior division must have their liability waiver signed by an adult. Any individual who refuses to sign a liability waiver will not be allowed to enter the tournament. Twenty (20%) of all adult entrees go to SEND A KID FISHING. IV. WITHDRAWAL: Any adult who wishes to withdraw from the Tournament may do so prior to 6am on the day of the Tournament. They will be refunded $25.00 minus a $5.00 fee going to SEND A KID FISHING. Junior division anglers who want to withdraw must do so prior to 6am on the day of the Tournament and will be refunded their $10.00 entry fee. Adult division anglers who have withdrawn from the Tournament as specified will be refunded all Calcutta monies they have entered. To withdraw from the Tournament you must call (516) 378-5181 prior to 6am the day of the Tournament and leave a detailed message, giving your full name, address and phone number or come down to Blue Water Yacht Club prior to 6am with your receipt…..NO EXCEPTIONS. V. WEATHER: If SMALL CRAFT WARNINGS are issued by 5am on the day of the Tournament, the Tournament will be postponed until the following day…… Sunday, July 12, 2015. Anglers choosing not to fish on 7/12/15 must contact the Freeport Hudson Anglers to withdraw prior to 6am by calling (516) 378-5181. You will be entitled to a full refund minus the $5.00 fee going to SEND A KID FISHING. All Calcutta monies will be returned. Junior division anglers will get a 1 full $10.00 refund. VI. FISHING HOURS CHECK-IN AND WEIGH-IN: Fishing starts at 6am.The check-in and weigh-in will be held at the Blue Water Yacht Club at 19044 Bayberry Ave., Merrick, NY 11566 on the day of the Tournament. You may fish from the surf, pier, private boat, party boat or charter boat. You may fish in all surrounding Long Island waters. Participants must bring their fish and receipt to the Check-In desk first. After being checked in they will be directed to the Weigh-In area to finalize their weigh-in. There are two separate lines…..First line is for Check-In and the second line is strictly for Weigh-In. At 6pm sharp the Check-In line will be closed. An official announcement will be made just prior to 6pm for a last call to those participants who have not checked in yet. An official tournament committee member will announce at 6pm sharp who the last eligible participant is on the Check-In line. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS IMPORTANT RULE. VII. FISHING RULES: 1. All fish must be caught by rod & reel on the day of the tournament. 2. All Fluke must be at least 18” in length. Contestants take full responsibility for ineligible fish. 3. Only 1 legal fish per angler will be eligible for prizes. 4. Any fish unduly mutilated in any way will be disqualified. 5. Any weight alteration will disqualify your fish. 6. It is the responsibility of each participant to have the required Fishing License/Privilege issued by the DEC. One eligible fish per participant will be marked by the Weigh-Master after being weighed in. The time of day will be recorded at check-in. The weight of the fish along with the length of the fish (nearest 1/8 of an inch) will be documented on the weigh-in slip and signed both by the Weigh-Master and the participant. If there are two fish with the same exact weight, the fish with the greater length would be the winning fish. If the fish have both identical weight and length then the fish checked in at the earliest time will be declared the winner. Once your fish is weighed in you cannot weigh in a fish at a later time. The decision of the WeighMaster is final. If there is an unresolved dispute the Freeport Hudson Anglers will make a final binding decision. You do not have to be present after the weigh-in to collect your prize money if you win. We will contact you if you are not present, although you may want to be available for Post Tournament Photos. 2 VIII. PRIZE MONEY: for Both Adult & Junior Divisions for the Heaviest Fluke – 1st Place………………80% 2nd Place……………..20% IX: CALCUTTA: for the $50.00 & $25.00 entrants will be as follows for the Heaviest Fluke – 1st Place…………….80% 2nd Place…………..20% The following information which describes the two Calcutta Levels ($50.00 and $25.00) are available to adults only who wish to participate. Remember, Calcutta prize money is SEPARATE from Tournament proceeds and you are under no obligation to enter any of these additional level Calcutta. It is strictly your option and you do not have to enter either ($50.00 or $25.00). 100% of Calcutta entries will be paid out. Percentages listed are of total purse within each Calcutta. In the event that no qualifying 2nd place Fluke is caught, the prize money will go to the 1st place winner. In the event that no qualifying fish are caught at all, ALL ENTRY FEES minus $5.00 will be returned and all Calcutta monies will be returned. X. PAYMENT: Entry fees and Calcutta may be paid by check prior to June 15, 2015. After June 15, 2015 entry and Calcutta fees must be paid in CASH. Applications will be available if you would like to sign up for the Fluke Tournament at the Captain’s Party on June 10, 2015 – and also prior to 6am on the day of the Tournament - CASH ONLY. 3 XI. If you would like to dock your boat during the Tournament, transient slips are available on a first come first serve basis. But, you must call Kelly at the Blue Water Yacht Club (516 –623-5757) prior to doing so. Or You can tie up and weigh-in your fish without reservations. 4
