"Idea of National Parks with a focus on Theodore Roosevelt"
Join FTRNP Board Member and Past President Clay Jenkinson and Interim ND Chancellor of Higher Education,
Larry Skogen for a discussion of the ideas and ideals of national parks, with a focus on Theodore Roosevelt National
Park and Theodore Roosevelt’s contributions to the National Park System.
Bismarck State College is pleased to present this series of conversations to enrich the community’s understanding of
historical and contemporary topics. Held on selected Sunday afternoons between September and May, these enlightening programs take an inclusive look at the world by emphasizing the 360-degree perspective of the humanities. Each
conversation begins with a presentation by Clay Jenkinson, BSC distinguished humanities scholar, followed by discussion
with Skogen, a history specialist, and their occasional guests. Questions from the audience complete the conversation.

Thanks to 4-H he decided at sixteen to become
an Extension agent with the NDSU Extension Service and followed that dream, receiving
a bachelor’s degree from NDSU. Recently he
completed his 34th year with the NDSU Extension Service now serving as a district director.
As a member of the FOTRNP Board he looks
forward to creating opportunities that enhance
the learning experience that families with young
children have in TRNP, hoping that we can create a curiosity and respect for nature for today’s
youth through their experience in TRNP.

Mindi serves on the Jamestown Public School Board, is past president
of the Gussner Elementary PTO, a member of the Jamestown Branch of
AAUW, and a board member of Two Rivers Activities Center. She believes that Theodore Roosevelt National Park and the Elkhorn Ranch are
vitally important history, and that protecting special places, particularly
Theodore Roosevelt National Park and the Elkhorn Ranch is important,
stating that oil and gas development and the effects of that development is
jeopardizing one of the most important historical sites of the country. Her
goal is to protect these special places for future generations.

Park Vision: The Theodore Roosevelt National Park is
one of our national treasures. With all the activity that
is currently on going in Western North Dakota, I think
it is important to protect the parks historical legacy and
the natural integrity and ensure that current and all future generations have the opportunity to enjoy the park
in its natural state. We can to this by making sure that
the populace has situational awareness of what is going
on in the park and encourage citizen involvement.
