‘‘Our name has lasted
many years. We need a
van that does too.”
“Our business has been within the family since 1953. My uncle started it
with one dump truck. Soon after, my father and my other uncle joined.
There are now six Cavanaghs working here full time, covering two generations
with a third starting to get involved.
We’ve been able to grow our business by making smart and efficient decisions.
That’s why when the time came to add to our fleet, we needed a van we’d be
proud to put our name on. We have a reputation in the community for quality,
so our equipment needs to reflect that, and Mercedes-Benz means quality.
We bought the Sprinter for the fuel economy. I’ve always liked diesel engines
better than gas ones and I think Mercedes-Benz has the best in the business.
We’ve used less fuel than any of the vans we’ve had in the past, allowing us to
save money and drive further.
It’s also very practical and durable, which helps my employees with their dayto-day tasks. It feels more like a work vehicle – the ergonomics, storage, third
seat, quality – it does everything we ask for effortlessly. In fact, we love the
Sprinter so much, we’ve even added another one to our fleet.”

‘‘The difference between
the Sprinter and my old
van? Night and day.”
“There’s a lot I love about the Sprinter, but the biggest thing for me has got
to be the cargo room. Before, I had to carry equipment and sheets of glass
on the outside of the van. Now pretty much everything fits inside, especially
bigger items that I couldn’t fit in my last van. The glass we install is really big
and tall, so to get it inside and onto the racks is amazing. I also like how everything
stays clean and warm – the caulking, the paint – it makes a huge difference.
Its higher roof also means I no longer have to crawl around while I work from the
inside, making work more comfortable.
It’s also very comfortable to drive. Driving my previous van caused my back to
get sore. With the Sprinter, there are so many little things that make it better. For
example, I have great control over the seat position making my drive even better.
The turning is really sharp; you can turn right around in the street. That means
getting into the job sites is easy. Even with all the weight I carry in the back, the
Sprinter remains well balanced on the highway, giving me greater control. Where
I used to get stuck with my old truck, with the Sprinter, I’ve driven it for three years
and I haven’t gotten stuck once – even in the winter! You just can’t beat it.”

‘‘The Sprinter really
sells itself once you
drive it.”
“We’re from a small community, so we will drive 50 kilometres each way to get
to a job site, sometimes even more. So I wanted a van that was more economical
in order to lower my operating costs. That’s why I switched to the Sprinter. After
we bought our Sprinter we tracked the fuel efficiency and compared it to another
van we have. The Sprinter was eight cents per kilometre cheaper to operate. We
also get 15,000 kilometres between services compared to the 5,000 on the old
van. All these make a big difference in long-term costs. I get a higher return on
my investment with this van than anything I’ve owned before.
The comfort of my employees is also very important to me. Because our job involves
working from the back of the van, we need one that fits our demands. Its bigger
cargo capacity makes loading and storing things like pipes and water heaters easy.
And because we have a lot of tools and parts, the customized drawers and shelves
come in handy as it keeps them organized and in place. Frankly, the reputation of
the Sprinter represents everything that my company stands for: quality.”

LA ROCCA CREATIVE CAKES
‘‘L oading, securing and
delivering massive cakes
is a piece of cake.”
“La Rocca started in Canada about 25 years ago, but our family has been
baking for over 60 years – it’s in our blood, our DNA. Our customers
rely on us to deliver the best quality premium brand dessert that we can.
The Sprinter allows us to fulfill that promise.
We started with one cargo van and now have a fleet of 20 Sprinters. They’re the
best vans for our delivery, and usually we make anywhere between 12 to 24 deliveries
a day with each van. With the customized shelving and refrigeration inside, we can load
anywhere from 300 to 600 cakes easily and keep them cool and safely in place.
The Sprinter’s smooth and balanced ride also helps keep our cakes safe, and its
turning ratio makes it easy to park. The doors in the back open right around and
lock in, so it’s easier to unload. The way the cabin is constructed, including the
doors, leads to a better working environment for our drivers. As soon as you open
the door, all the orders are right there so you can see them a lot easier.
It also looks great on the road. It stands out very well and helps with our advertising.
The Sprinter is the best van for us and our business.”

‘‘With the Sprinter, I make
less trips for fuel and more
trips to jobs.”
“Driving the Sprinter day in and day out for work really fills me with excitement
and pride. It’s a very hard working van. For example, the fuel economy I get is
incredible. I drive about twice the distance with my Sprinter compared to my old
van – about 900 kilometres – all on one tank. And because I’m now filling up
every week and a half instead of every two to three days, I stop less on the road
and get to service calls quicker.
The space inside is also really impressive. Even with our custom shelving we can
still load a full skid. Then there are all these little details that I really appreciate
because they make my job easier and more organized. There’s a small practical
clip where I can clip my fuel receipts and papers, even a large compartment on
the dash for invoice pads. Of course, there’s even a place for my morning coffee,
which is a must.
While on job sites, other contractors see my Sprinter and ask me all sorts
of questions. I’m convinced in the end they want to trade their van with mine,
but I won’t. I love my Sprinter.”

ROBERT Q AIRBUS
‘‘With the Sprinter, even our
customers’ trips to the airport
are a pleasure.”
“Robert Q Airbus started in 1977 with one vehicle and one driver. Today, 35 years
later, we have 23 vehicles in our fleet going to Toronto Pearson International Airport
a minimum of 13 times a day and to Detroit Metro airport 11 times a day. We like
to believe that the journey starts with Robert Q in a professional first class manner.
And the Sprinter certainly helps us achieve that goal.
The Sprinter can carry 11 passengers and their luggage easily. People aren’t crouched
over, they have lots of headroom, and that means more comfort. And there’s always
enough room for luggage inside, which was a problem we used to have with our
previous vehicles.
It’s important to know we have a comfortable, suitable and reliable van in our fleet,
both for drivers and customers. Our passengers and drivers actually express how safe
they feel when they’re inside. The Sprinter has definitely delivered on our expectations
and we look forward to continuing to increase our fleet with many more.”
Bob Rackham,
Fleet Manager

‘‘The Sprinter is a
workhorse, day in
and day out.”
“Our family has been in the shoe business for three generations. Both grandparents
from my dad and my mom’s side were shoemakers and my grandfather established
the business in 1922. We’ve been in business for over 90 years and quality means
a lot to us, so when we discovered the Sprinter we knew it was going to do the job
right and invested in it.
The Sprinter is reliable and really is a workhorse, doing up to five deliveries a day
easily. The higher roof is a great feature as it allows us to stand while working in the
back, making it easier and faster to deliver boxes of shoes.
The BlueTEC engine is very good for the environment, and that is a big plus for the
Sprinter. This seemed to fit the bill as being a great solution for us because it means
the engine is efficient for work while still being great on the environment.
The Sprinter is the perfect vehicle for TF Firma and Mephisto because it shows we
won’t compromise. Mercedes-Benz is known for building the best or nothing and
the Sprinter’s the perfect vehicle to deliver what we believe to be the world’s finest
footwear, without compromise.”

Fugro ROADWARE INC.
‘‘We love the Sprinter.
That’s why we have 20.”
“We do survey roadwork, so our vans need to be customized to haul heavy gear
in order to collect road data to determine what type of maintenance work is
required. We used to buy domestics, now we exclusively buy Sprinters. Given
the size of our Sprinter, it’s still remarkably lightweight, manoeuvrable and easy
to drive. We have to drive on backcountry roads where lanes can get narrow.
The visibility from the Sprinter’s larger mirrors and windows makes lane changes
and turning around a breeze, even in high-speed traffic.
Then there’s the cargo room. We have to mount computers, generators and other
equipment on racks in the back, so the customized shelves really come in handy.
The Sprinter’s also got more headroom in the front and back than anyone else;
it’s big enough to work comfortably, and that’s important. Our employees are
in the van for eight or more hours a day, so they need to be comfortable in order
to be productive.
We’ve put over 250,000 kilometres on our vans last year and rely on the Sprinter’s
durability to deliver even more.”

MOUNTAIN GALLERIES
‘‘With the Sprinter by my
side, I can work practically
anywhere.”
“Mountain Galleries started very small in Jasper, and over the past 20 years we’ve
grown. Jasper is where we have our warehouse and manage our inventory, and the
Sprinter was a great choice for us to move around priceless artwork and sculptures.
Everything about this vehicle is genius. We thought it would be a little bit more
expensive to run, but it wasn’t. The Sprinter was about 20% cheaper to operate and
can take five times the load versus other cargo vans we looked at. We can take
20 to 30 decent sized paintings and have them secured nicely. And because of its
height, it’s very easy to move paintings and large sculptures in and out. Even with
heavy sculptures in the back it doesn’t feel overloaded.
For us, the Sprinter is the safest van on the road. It’s easy to drive, comfortable
with good visibility, has great traction in the snow, is nimble through Jasper’s winding
roads, and comfortable to work in with its higher roof.

‘‘People depend on us,
so we depend on
the Sprinter.”
“When you drive over 100,000 kilometres per year for your business,
you want a van that’s economical. But when your job involves moving
patients, you need a van that’s safe and comfortable too. Hands down,
we couldn’t have a better van for our business than the Sprinter.
Because of the higher roof, our operators can stand comfortably as they
tend to our patients’ needs. The wider doors also allow us to move
patients in and out more easily. We were even able to install a larger
hydraulic lift for people in wheelchairs.
Comfort is obviously important when a patient has had surgery, so
a smooth, gentle ride is a must. The Sprinter actually has a stability
system that feels the weight in the back and adjusts handling to provide
a balanced ride, which is great because the weight in the back changes
patient by patient.
And not only is it quiet and smooth on the road, it’s also efficient. With
fuel prices the way they are today, having a van that saves on operating
costs is important. Every day I continue to be impressed by our Sprinter,
and that’s why we now own 10.”
