PRE-GREEK WEEK EVENTS & ROUNDTABLES
ROUNDTABLES
Greek Week Roundtables provide an opportunity for the Greek Week Planning Committee to share information
and updates, as well as answer questions and address concerns, regarding Greek Week. Each Chapter participating
in Greek Week must have representation at the following roundtable meetings. It is preferable that each Chapter
select a Greek Week Chair, who will consistently represent the Chapter at all Greek Week Roundtables. If the
Greek Week Chair cannot attend a roundtable, it is their responsibility to notify a member of the Greek Week
Planning Committee. In addition, the Chapter would be required to send an assistant or other Chapter
representative in his/her place. If a chapter does not have a representative in attendance at a Greek Week
Roundtable, their respective team will receive a 10 point deduction.

The Avengers:
Marvel Studios delivers the ultimate comic-book film, which ties together such characters as Iron Man (Robert
Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) for a bigscreen franchise team-up like no other. Taking center stage this time is Nick Fury (played once again by the noteperfect Samuel L. Jackson), leader of the peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Fury, along with former
Russian spy Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), recruits a super team to combat Thor's ever-deceptive brother Loki
(Tom Hiddleston) after he brainwashes ace archer Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) while stealing a cosmic cube from an
underground base. Thus the heroes must learn to work together alongside outlaw scientist Bruce Banner (Ruffalo),
who can track down the artifact's gamma signals when he's not hulking out into a giant green monster. Show runner
Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly) adapted and helmed the script by Zak Penn. ~ Jeremy Wheeler,
Rovi
The Breakfast Club:
John Hughes wrote and directed this quintessential 1980s high school drama featuring the hottest young stars of the
decade. Trapped in a day-long Saturday detention in a prison-like school library are Claire, the princess (Molly
Ringwald); Andrew, the jock (Emilio Estevez); John, the criminal (Judd Nelson); Brian, the brain (Anthony Michael
Hall); and Allison, the basket case (Ally Sheedy). These five strangers begin the day with nothing in common, each
bound to his/her place in the high school caste system. Yet the students bond together when faced with the
villainous principal (Paul Gleason), and they realize that they have more in common than they may think, including
a contempt for adult society. "When you grow up, your heart dies," Allison proclaims in one of the film's many
scenes of soul-searching, and, judging from the adults depicted in the film, the teen audience may very well agree.
Released in a decade overflowing with derivative teen films, The Breakfast Club has developed an almost cult-like
status. ~ Dylan Wilcox, Rovi
3
Caddyshack:
At an exclusive country club for WASPish snobs, an ambitious young caddy (Michael O'Keefe) from an
overpopulated home eagerly pursues a caddy scholarship in hopes of attending college and, in turn, avoiding a job at
the lumber yard. In order to succeed, he must first win the favor of the elitist Judge Smails (Ted Knight), then the
caddy golf tournament which the good judge sponsors. Of course, there are love interests as well -- one good, one
naughty -- not to mention several foes he must vanquish along the way. The story itself serves to string along a
series of slapstick scenes involving an obnoxious nouveau riche land developer (Rodney Dangerfield) who wants to
turn the site into a condominium community; an oddball, Zen-quoting, millionaire slacker/golf ace (Chevy Chase);
and a psychotic groundskeeper (Bill Murray) with a gopher-fixation. ~ Jeremy Beday, Rovi
Grease:
"Grease," said the poster and the Barry Gibb song, "is the word." Transferring its setting from Chicago to sunny
California, and adding a dash of disco to the ersatz '50s score, producer Allan Carr and director Randal Kleiser
turned this long-running Jim Jacobs-Warren Casey Broadway smash into the biggest blockbuster of 1978. 1950s
teens Danny (John Travolta) and Australian transfer Sandy (Olivia Newton-John) spend their "Summer Nights"
falling in love, but once fall comes, it's back to Rydell High and its cliques. As one of the bad-boy T-Birds, Danny
has to act cool for best pal Kenickie (Jeff Conaway) and their leather-clad mates Sonny (Michael Tucci) and Doody
(Barry Pearl, in the role Travolta played on-stage). Despite befriending Frenchy (Didi Conn), one of the rebel Pink
Ladies, virginal Sandy is "too pure to be Pink," as the Ladies' leader, Rizzo (Stockard Channing), acidly observes.
Declaring their devotion in such ballads as "Hopelessly Devoted to You" and "Sandy," Sandy and Danny split,
reconcile, and split again amidst a pep rally, dances, drive-ins, and a drag race, before deciding "You're the One That
I Want" at the climactic carnival. With Travolta white-hot from Saturday Night Fever (1977), Grease soundtrack
singles climbed the charts and summer movie crowds poured in. With the presence of Joan Blondell, Eve Arden,
Sid Caesar, Edd "Kookie" Byrnes, and Frankie Avalon appealing to grown-up memories, Grease became the
highest-grossing film of 1978, the highest-grossing movie musical ever, and the third most popular film of the new
blockbuster '70s after Star Wars (1977) and Jaws (1975). ~ Lucia Bozzola, Rovi
The Great Gatsby:
An aspiring writer falls under the spell of an aloof millionaire with designs for the young scribe's unhappily married
cousin in director Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's celebrated novel. It's the spring of 1922, and
wide-eyed Midwesterner Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire) has just moved to New York City in pursuit of the
American Dream. Settling into a home next door to wealthy Jay Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio), Carraway grows
increasingly fascinated by the elaborate parties held at his new neighbor's estate. Meanwhile, across the bay,
Carraway's cousin Daisy (Carey Mulligan) flounders in her marriage to philandering aristocrat Tom Buchanan (Joel
Edgerton). Inspired by the debauchery on display at Gatsby's wild parties and the lives of the wealthy elite,
Carraway begins putting pen to paper as it gradually becomes clear that his cousin and the millionaire share a
complicated romantic past that remains unresolved. Isla Fisher, Jason Clarke, and Elizabeth Debicki co-star. ~
Jason Buchanan, Rovi
4
The Sandlot:
The Sandlot is sparsely narrated by the main character (now an adult) who occasionally drops in on the action to
comment on events or help move the story along. Tom Guiry plays Scotty Smalls, the shy new kid on the block
who wants to join the rowdy pickup baseball team that plays every day in the neighborhood sandlot. But he doesn't
know how to catch a baseball, and his stepfather (Dennis Leary) is too busy to teach him. He tries out for the
sandlot gang anyway, and though he isn't very good, it turns out he's lucky: there happen to be only eight of them,
and nine makes a team. The summer passes blissfully as Scotty learns to play ball under the wing of Benny
Rodriguez (Mike Vitar), the oldest and best player, as well as Ham, Squints, Repeat, and the rest of the kideccentrics. The skies darken, however, when Benny literally knocks the stuffing out of the team's only baseball, a
sign of impending doom, or worse, bad luck. Wanting to set things right, Scotty returns home and "borrows" his
stepfather's ball, which he promptly uses to hit his first home run, knocking the ball clear out of the sandlot into
mean old Mr. Mertle (James Earl Jones)'s junkyard, home to Mertle's legendary guard dog The Beast. Scotty admits
that he took the ball without asking, and he naively explains that his stepfather will want it back since it had a
woman's name written on it: some lady named Babe Ruth. Horror-stricken, the sandlot gang mobilizes to fetch the
autographed ball from the clutches of The Beast. ~ Anthony Reed, Rovi
Top Gun:
Devil-may-care navy pilot Pete Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is sent to Miramar Naval Air Station for advanced training.
Here he vies with Tom Kasansky (Val Kilmer) for the coveted "Top Gun" award. When not so occupied, Mitchell
carries on a romance with civilian consultant Charlotte Blackwood (Kelly McGillis). Shaken up by the death of a
friend, Mitchell loses the Top Gun honor to Kasansky. Worried that he may have lost his nerve, Mitchell is given a
chance to redeem himself during a tense international crisis involving a crippled US vessel and a flock of predatory
enemy planes. The story wasn't new in 1986, but Top Gun scored with audiences on the strength of its visuals,
especially the vertigo-inducing aerial sequences.
Toy Story:
Toy Story was the first feature-length film animated entirely by computer. If this seems to be a sterile, mechanical
means of moviemaking, be assured that the film is as chock-full of heart and warmth as any Disney cartoon feature.
The star of the proceedings is Woody, a pull-string cowboy toy belonging to a wide-eyed youngster named Andy.
Whenever Andy's out of the room, Woody revels in his status as the boy's number one toy. His supremacy is
challenged by a high-tech, space-ranger action figure named Buzz Lightyear, who, unlike Woody and his pals,
believes that he is real and not merely a plaything. The rivalry between Woody and Buzz hilariously intensifies
during the first half of the film, but when the well-being of Andy's toys is threatened by a nasty next-door neighbor
kid named Sid -- whose idea of fun is feeding stuffed dolls to his snarling dog and reconstructing his own toys into
hideous mutants -- Woody and Buzz join forces to save the day. Superb though the computer animation may be,
what really heightens Toy Story are the voice-over performances by such celebrities as Tom Hanks (as Woody), Tim
Allen (as Buzz), and Don Rickles (as an appropriately acerbic Mr. Potato Head). ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

2015 GREEK WEEK
Form Procedures
Starting this Greek Week and for all future community-wide events, forms will now be hosted online in
collaboration with the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life website. This provides groups the opportunity to
independently upload, complete, and submit all requests in a web format. Moving to an online format helps the
planning committee with tracking and changes the need to turn in requirements before end of business days.
All forms are hosted on the website fsl.colostate.edu under the ‘Current Members’ tab. At the end of the dropdown list under ‘Current Members’ you should see the secondary tab “Greek Week Forms”. When you click or
hover over “Greek Week Forms” you will see listed all of the available forms. Additionally, when you click “Greek
Week Forms” you will see an online version of the checklist provided in this packet.
Every form, including the Liability Waiver Form, is now or will soon be hosted on the Greek Week Forms. If you
have any difficulties in submitting a form, or if there are some revisions that need to be made to a submitted form,
please email the planning committee.
While some forms have been explained in the packet, others are not. All forms online are the versions that must be
completed by teams for points. Absolutely no paper forms will be accepted. Failure to submit online forms
can result in including, but not limited to, loss of points and disqualifications from events.

2015 GREEK WEEK
“Inspire, Not Require” Program
Jessica Ekstrom
Tuesday, April 21, 2015
7:00pm-9:00pm (Doors open at 6:30pm)
LSC Main Ballroom
The Greek Week Planning Committee is teaming up with a phenomenal speaker,
Jessica Ekstrom to explore the topic of philanthropy, service and other events
that we often require our members to be present at. Jess explores the idea of
inspiring our members and the people around us to adopt our cause and
understand our passion.
During her junior year of college, Jess started her own business “Headbands of
Hope” and has since been featured on the Today Show as well as other notable
publications. She is the CEO of her company. The company sells headbands and
for each one sold, one is donated to a child with cancer and $1 is donated to the
St. Baldrick’s Foundation. She travels across the nation visiting hospitals and
delivering these headbands to children.
Before she got the inspiration for her business she interned at Disney World and
then with Make a Wish Foundation. These sparked the idea within her when she
would see how little interest children had in wearing wigs. With headbands the
girls and boys can be one step closer to tackling the struggle of fighting cancer. By
finding this spark and being inspired to go after anything that she set her mind to,
she now speaks to groups and campuses about how important it is, for us as
leaders in our communities, to get others on board for the changes we are hoping
to see.
Her inspiring story and message, we hope, will inspire freshman to seniors and
everyone in between. With graduation close behind Greek Week this year, Jess
will encourage them to follow their dreams and to find new found passion in the
paths that they will be taking.
As a component of this program we will be having a speaker from likely each
council of our community to share their experiences with service, philanthropy
and inspirations they have found through their fraternity and sorority experience.
Interested student speakers must submit a completed Student Speaker Form, which must include a copy of your
speech, due Friday, April 3, 2015 at 5:00pm online under forms on the Colorado State Fraternity and Sorority
Life website.

2015 GREEK WEEK
Wear ‘em Wednesdays
Wednesday, April 22, 2015
All day until 6:00pm
On Campus
This will be held throughout the day on the Wednesday of Greek Week. This is the traditional wear your letter and
take pictures and post them to social media, however for Greek Week we are having the competition around our
theme. So we will be counting members of the community that are wearing their Greek Week shirts that are unique
for their teams. The hashtag will be #wearemwednesdays like usual and there will be new accounts created for the
week that must be tagged in order to receive points. It is also important to include the chapters of the members that
are present in the photos or the team name for clarity. Further logistics for tagging on this day will come in the
future. This should go without saying, however, having much of the fraternity and sorority community wearing their
Greek Week shirts on campus on the same day it is important that everyone is representing our community in a
respectful way. This week is about unity and being proud of our individual organizations as well as our community
as a whole and that requires everyone.

● We highly encourage teams to draw inspiration from their specific movies, this will create very unique
performances. With that being said, it is your team’s choice to use or not use music or costumes from your

whole performance on your movie.
● There is a limit of 10 minutes for the performance. A penalty will be imposed if the time limit is exceeded.
● Props and costumes are allowed but should not be excessive and should be in good taste. Make sure all

WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO ASK FOR CHANGES THAT WE FEEL VIOLATE THESE RULES
AT THAT TIME.

Lipsync Performance Order and Dress Rehearsal Schedule
The order of Greek Week teams during the Lipsync Performance, as well as during the Lipsync Dress Rehearsal,
shall be as follows. We strongly encourage you to have all available members in the performance at Dress Rehearsal.
We understand that many of these dress rehearsal times are during classes, however the thought behind this is to
allow teams more time to bring their props into the Lincoln Center, as well as being able to run through their
performance a couple of times. Reminder: All props must be to the Lincoln Center backstage, in your team’s
designated area, at the time of the dress rehearsal. No props are to be brought to the Lincoln Center at the time of
performances. Xajés Martinez will be at the Lincoln Center all day to check teams in and to see that this process

Strolling is the movement of members together in a line expressing pride and unity for their organization. In this
line, members may express their pride through use of their organization’s call, sign or historical information,
ritual/custom dances, etc. All of this is done through movements that are unique to a particular organization.
Strolling is historically linked to NPHC chapters and has recently been adopted by MGC chapters; however, this
does not mean that only NPHC and MGC chapters create the stroll! This portion of Greek Week is to highlight the
unity that our community has and should be put together by all councils in your team.

Unity Stroll Points
Greek Week Judges will utilize the judging criteria below to determine the top five places and points will be awarded
based on the Event Points Breakdown on pg. 6.
Judging Criteria:
Team Unity 25%
Overall Performance 20%
Creativity 20%
Strolling Authenticity 15%
Audience reaction 10%
Team energy 5%

*** Team Unity-- For this section of the judging criteria, the judges will be looking for overall unity, with solos being an exception.
However, too many individual solos is not being unified, so please be aware of how many solos you will be using.
*** Strolling Authenticity – For this section of the judging criteria, the judges will be looking for a true and authentic stroll. This
means that the stroll should be and look like a stroll, including movements that are in a line, with team unity and synchronization.
Traditional movements that are tied to strolling are encouraged. The Unity Stroll should not look like a mini dance; this is a stroll
competition not a dance competition. Be creative!
*** Audience Reaction-- For this section of the judging criteria, the judges will be looking for a positive reaction from the crowed.
This includes things like getting the crowd hype and wooing the crowd with your moves. In the end this is a performance.
*** Team Energy-- For this section of the judging criteria, the judges will be looking for positive energy. They will be looking for
things like facial expressions and how engaged the team is in their performance. Have fun!

For cans: 10pts for 25 cans
This does not change the amount of points received in the Events Points Breakdown listed above. This is in addition to the

(Check-In for Team Leader at 8:30am at the Lory Student Center)
CSUnity is a long-standing tradition of CSU. Every spring students from Colorado State University come together
for a daylong service project to help those around the Fort Collins community. Students may be asked to plant
trees, paint houses, visit with senior citizens, sort food, clean yards, etc. Students will help neighbors of the Fort
Collins community, the City of Fort Collins, state, county, federal agencies, as well as local non-profit organizations.
CSUnity has a long-standing partnership with Fraternity and Sorority Life and Greek Week. Not only does it
confirm to the campus and community the values we espouse, it also provides us an opportunity to give back to the
community in a week of celebrating what it means to be Greek. Participants will receive a t-shirt, snacks, and local
lunch discounts.
Important Dates and Information
● Registration Deadline – March 27th – Each Chapter must individually register for CSUnity utilizing the
Group Volunteer Sign-Up on the SLiCE website: http://www.slice.colostate.edu/csunity.aspx.

The purpose of the BBQ is to bond as a Greek community over some delicious food after an incredible Greek
Week. Award winners will also be announced at the BBQ. Food will be catered, and costs per person will be
announced prior to the third roundtable.
The Awards Ceremony BBQ will take place on Sunday, April 26th, 2015, at the trees area by the lagoon from

individualized, so come early in case we run out of food!
It is not the responsibility of the Greek Week Committee to keep track of which members ordered food from

attendees—no more, no less. And in doing so, if mistakes are made with this, we will take responsibility to fix it.

PM. If any of your members have a food allergy or dietary restriction, please provide that in addition to the
totals.
The following is an example form that you can utilize to identify individuals that intend to eat at the BBQ. We will
not be accepting any paper forms, as any and all forms have been moved to an online format. Payments will be
taken at the third roundtable or will be arranged with the council officers.
