Access and Manage
Documents
Every new iPad is built with the latest in wireless technology that lets you connect
to fast data networks around the world.1 So you can stream content, download
spreadsheets and presentations at blazing-fast speeds, and have immediate access
to all your important business documents. Get the files you need from your desktop
computer or corporate server, including Microsoft Office and iWork files, PDF and RTF
documents, movies, audio files, and images. Multi-Touch technology and the stunning
Retina display on iPad make it a snap to view, edit, and organize your documents using
just your finger. And with instant-on power and 10-hour battery life,2 iPad is designed
for immediate productivity any time of day.
From desktop to iPad.
With iPad, you have a mobile office in your hands. Whether you need to review a sales
proposal, approve a project plan, annotate a legal document, or sign a contract, iPad
allows you to quickly retrieve the appropriate files using a wide variety of apps made
for business. With all your working files accessible on iPad, you can leave your printouts
and folders behind. The built-in Mail app on iPad makes it easy to view and share documents. You can
view an attached file using Quick Look without the app that created it—just tap
the file icon in the email. If you need to edit an attachment, use the Open In feature
to automatically open the file in an appropriate app on your iPad and start making
changes. When you’ve finished editing, you can email the document from within the
app you used to edit it.
“With Dropbox on iPad, we can access files from anywhere. We can get everything we need for our business at any time of day and without any thought behind it.
On iPad, it’s just natural.”
It’s also simple to transfer documents from a Mac or PC to iPad using file-sharing
apps like Dropbox. With Dropbox, simply drag files to a folder on your computer
and they automatically sync over the air to a secure virtual server. The Dropbox
on iPad app retrieves all the files that were synced to the Dropbox virtual server
from your computer, so you can instantly view them right from your iPad (wireless
connection required). You can even share files with coworkers using the Dropbox for
Teams service. Your entire team can connect to the same documents, so you’re able to
gain quick and secure access to all the same files and collaborate more effectively.
Need to edit, share, or present your files? You can transfer files from your Dropbox app
into other apps on your iPad. Select the file in Dropbox, use the Open In feature to
choose an app from the pull-down menu, and you’re ready to go.

Organize files and folders.
It’s easy to stay organized on iPad. Using Dropbox on your computer, set up folders
by project, event, or team member, and the same file structure appears on your iPad
when you open Dropbox. Need to add or delete a folder on your iPad? Dropbox
lets you make those changes, and the next time your data syncs, your changes are
automatically reflected on your computer.
Access corporate servers.
You can easily access data from corporate servers right from your iPad. For
organizations with a Microsoft SharePoint infrastructure, apps like SharePlus: SharePoint
Mobile Client let you securely search, view, and edit content on SharePoint servers.
Browse files online or offline, and add, edit, or delete list items such as tasks, pictures,
contacts, and documents.
SharePlus: SharePoint Mobile Client
Access and manage your SharePoint documents wherever you go, and sync them back to the SharePoint server over a wireless connection.
Read interactive books.
iBooks offers an amazing way to download and read books. Experience gorgeous, fullscreen Multi-Touch textbooks designed for iPad that are filled with interactive features,
diagrams, photos, videos, and more. And with the free iBooks Author app for the Mac,
you can transform your static materials into interactive textbooks and distribute them
to employees privately through email or an internal portal. Create sales and marketing
materials that let your customers interact with your product. Produce training materials
and maintenance manuals that take employees through a process step by step. With
iBooks textbooks, you can bring your business content to life in ways the printed page
never could.

“iPad is advancing our customer service to a whole new level. It’s
putting a new spin on our visual
merchandising, and the customer
engagement has shifted to a more
visual and inspiring experience—
thanks to the innovative design
of iPad.”
– Nicole Orr, Sales Operations Manager
In addition to the amazing interactive textbooks you can create for your business,
the iBooks app also allows you to view and sync PDFs—including email attachments
and PDF documents from Safari—and even print them directly from your iPad.3 The
PDF files you open in iBooks are automatically backed up to your iTunes Books library
when you sync your iPad. Use iBooks to organize all your books and PDFs into personal
Collections, so you can quickly find what you need.

Captivate a crowd.
It’s never been easier to capture the attention of a crowd with iPad. For larger
audiences, securely stream content wirelessly from your iPad to an HDTV via AirPlay
Mirroring using Apple TV.1 AirPlay Mirroring allows you to stream any app, web page,
presentation, video, movie, or photo from your iPad to another screen that’s connected
to Apple TV.2 Everyone sees what’s on your iPad, even when you rotate from portrait to

show in an amphitheater. The possibilities to make a splash with iPad are endless.
You can also connect your iPad to an external display, projector, or HDTV using the
Apple Digital AV Adapter or Apple VGA Adapter (cables sold separately). Whichever
way you send your presentation to the big screen, the Keynote app transforms your
iPad into a presenter display, allowing you to choose between the current slide, next
slide, or speaker notes views while your presentation appears on the large screen. You
can also use the Keynote app to display your PowerPoint files, and GoodReader for
iPad to present Microsoft Office and iWork files, PDF documents, and videos, to name

a Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connection, you can let up to 15 iOS devices running Conference
Pad sync to your iPad while you present. And your iPad acts as the controlling device.
When you change pages, pinch to zoom, or tap and hold to activate the laser pointer,
all other devices will instantly do the same.

documents without having to print out numerous pages. It’s the perfect app to add
a new dimension and focus to your group presentation while accommodating your
mobile colleagues and customers.

Mobile Meetings Made Easy
iPad makes anywhere, anytime meetings simple. Whether you’re at the office or
working remotely, you can connect with other meeting participants in just a few
taps. iPad makes it easy to present and share ideas with immediate impact, without
complicated setup or wasted time.
iPad and apps from the App Store let you make video calls, host or attend meetings,
and share agendas and sidebar discussions. The thin, light iPad design, instant-on
capability, 10-hour battery life,1 and convenient wireless connectivity give you access
to a rich mobile meeting experience.
Video calls in a tap.
FaceTime on iPad lets you check in at the office even when you’re not there. Make realtime video calls via Wi-Fi with just a tap from your iPad to a coworker’s iPad, iPhone,
iPod touch, or Mac running FaceTime.2 Use FaceTime to keep important meetings when
you’re away from work, or to build one-on-one relationships with clients and colleagues.
“Mobility is an enormous part of the
job here. We have more than 1200
client hospitals and skilled nursing
facilities in 43 states, and we also
own 34 long-term acute care and
rehabilitation hospitals. So a big part of IT at RehabCare is providing solutions to a workforce spread
across the country. To meet that
need, we are using iPhone and iPad.”
FaceTime is easy to set up. All you need is an Apple ID and an email address, and you’re
ready to go. FaceTime is integrated with the Contacts app built into iPad, so you don’t
have to enter your contacts from scratch. To start a FaceTime call, tap your contact’s
phone number if they have an iPhone, or tap their email address if they’re using an
iPad, iPod touch, or Mac.2 An invitation pops up on your contact’s screen. When they
accept, the call begins.
You can switch between the two built-in cameras on iPad anytime during a call. The
front camera faces you, and the back camera faces what’s in front of you, so you
can show where you are and who you’re with, or share visual details from a job site.

Notable Notes
Take notes and organize them fast on iPad. It’s easy. With its thin, light design and
instant-on power, iPad is always ready to record important information whenever you
are. Text on the Retina display is razor sharp, and the large onscreen keyboard takes the
work out of typing. With iPad, you can take your notes with you wherever you go—a
conference room, an auditorium, or even a trade show.
Innovative apps for iPad transform note-taking into an interactive, dynamic experience.
More than mere scribbles, notes on iPad can include audio, video, web clips, and
photographs. Take advantage of apps to type, handwrite, dictate, or do all three.
With robust features for searching, tagging, and organizing your notes and information,
iPad and apps from the App Store help you stay organized and productive anywhere.
Capture ideas.
Typing notes is a breeze using the intelligent keyboard on iPad. It accelerates your
typing because it tracks what you type, then suggests words, corrects spelling, and
inserts punctuation for you. It also adjusts its orientation and layout automatically
and allows you to seamlessly switch between multiple languages.
iPad comes with a powerful note-taking app, Notes, to capture and organize your
thoughts. It saves your notes automatically, and you can share them as a mail message
