Problem:
If at a campground what kind of Amp Service is used 15, 30 or 50?
Suggestion:
Our Motor Home shore power cords are designed for 30
Amp service.
Problem:
Batteries will not hold a charge.
Suggestion:
Check the water levels. Deep Cycle Batteries need a
slow charge if they go dead. A 3 Amp trickle for 2 or 3
days. A higher Amp charging rate will only give the
battery a surface charge that will not hold.
Problem:
The house battery goes dead.
Suggestion:
The batteries may not be charging from the engine
alternator. Check the fuse in the power distribution
panel (See Ford Owners Manual). Check the water
levels in the batteries.
Problem:
Furnace does not run overnight.
Suggestion:
The batteries are low. The furnace and refrigerator are
the two biggest draws on the battery system.
Problem:
The furnace is inoperable.

Suggestion:
1. Low battery.
2. The furnace fan has to run at a pre-set RPM
before the gas valve will open and allow the
furnace to light.
3. Check the heat vents to make sure the butterflies
are open, this will also cause low RPM's if they
are closed.
Problem:
Suggestion:
The furnace blows cold air.
1. Check the LP bottle to make sure that it is on.
2. Check the thermostat for the temperature setting.
3. Check the butterflies in the heat vents to make
sure that they are open all the way.
Problem:
Will not switch from generator to shore power.
Suggestion:
There is a built in transfer switch on the converter that
performs this function. This would need to be checked
by a Service Center.
Problem:
The generator will not start.
Suggestion:
The generator is wired to the house batteries. The
batteries may be low enough that the generator will not
start. Start the Motor Home and try starting the
generator. Check the 80 amp breaker located on the
passenger side of the firewall. (Not on all models)
Problem:
The generator rattles when running.
Suggestion:
1. Check the exhaust pipe to see if it is loose.
2. The fuel line may be sucking air.
Problem:
The propane gauge reads wrong.
Suggestion:
Float in the tank may be stuck - take to an authorized
propane dealer for repair. The tank has an 80% shutoff valve in it, which is required by law. This means
your tank, when filled will only read about 3/4 full.
Problem:
The propane gauge is inoperable.

Suggestion:
There are 2 gauges on the propane system. There is a
sight gauge at the tank itself and an indicator on the
monitor panel. If the monitor panel is not working,
check the wire connections at the sight gauge. Note
that the gauges are in different increments - one reads
in 1/4's and the other reads in 1/3's.
Problem:
The LP detector keeps going off.
Suggestion:
This device has two functions - it will indicate a low
battery as well as an LP leak. If your LP detector goes
off do not assume that it is a low battery condition Check for LP leaks.
Problem:
No power at the outlets in Coach.
Suggestion:
Check the GFCI outlet located on the shower wall just
inside the back door.
Problem:
The TV has no reception except when on cable.
Suggestion:
1. Check the A/B switch to make sure it is on TV
setting. This switch is located in the front
overhead storage. (This switch has 2 functions:
the "A" side which is the upper button controls
the antenna & VCR; the "B" side which is the
lower button is for cable hookup which may also
be used for hook-up for a DSS antenna.)
2. Check the TV menu screen for setting TV in
antenna mode.
3. Check the TV antenna booster to make sure it is
turned on.
Problem:
The Beverage Mate is inoperable.
Suggestion:
Check the fuse - see the Chinook Owners Manual.
Problem:
The roof vent leaks air and/or rattles, or will not close
all the way.
Suggestion:
There is an adjustment that can be made, we do have
a flyer showing how to do this, it is best done at a
Service Center.
Problem:
How do you drain the fresh water tank?

Yakima, Washington - CHINOOK RV Homecoming Rally
The Rally will include a tour of the PREMIER Yakima Valley Wine
Country, a CHINOOK RV plant tour and an exclusive barbeque
with the founder and owner of CHINOOK RV, Gary Lukehart.
During your stay you will also have the opportunity to elect
officials for the Western Region CHINOOK CAMPING CLUB. The
charter bus tour of the Yakima Valley Wine Country will include
stops at local wineries and tasting of their quality wines. For

East Coast and would like to team up or meet with
others on the way - contact Tom Jackson (see below)

He and Sue are planning to travel north, through Cody
and through Yellowstone National Park-then to the Pacific
Coast to do some fishing, On the return trip home they
will be stopping in Albuquerque, NM to see the hot air
balloons- October 2-8- hope to see you on the road!!

Asheville, North Carolina - A mini-rally held at Bear Creek RV
Park. Hosts were William and Deanne McCormick. Activities-our
now famous Pot Luck Supper, a visit the Biltmore Estate,
Winery Tour, Asheville Historic District, Folk Art Center, and a
caravan to the Blue Ridge Parkway.
April 10-13, 2003
Bay St Louis, Missippi - A mini-rally held at Casino Magic RV
Park. Hosts were Dick and Jean DeSchriver. Activities-Casino,
NASA Stennis Space Center.
January 23-26, 2003
Ocala, Florida - A mini-rally held at the KOA Campground.
Hosts were Tom and Sue Jackson. The main activities was to
stay warm, the temperature dropped to 23 degrees. Even with
the cold, several hardy souls visited the Homosassa Springs
State Park, Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing and the
Appleton Museum.
October 17-20, 2002
Waves, North Carolina - Our Second Annual Rally was held on
the famous Outer Banks, at Camp Hatteras. Cordinators were,
John and Ruby McWaters and Griffin and Joan Wells. Election of
officers-President Tom Jackson,Vice President/membership
Harry Bufkin, Vice President/Rally Director John McWaters,
Secretary Joy Imel, Tresurer Dick DeSchriver. Activities-covered
dish supper, Bon Fire on the Beach, mini golf, and bingo. A bus
tour took us to the light house that was moved inland, the
Wright Brothers Memorial, Elizabethan Gardens and a moon
light cruise in the Bay.
June 20-22, 2002
Dillsboro/Cherokee, North Carolina - A mini- rally was held
at Holly Cove RV Park Hosts were John and Ruby McWaters.
Activities -covered dish supper,train ride through the
mountains, Unto These Hills and outdoor drama.
April 4-7, 2002
Pine Mountain, Georgia - A mini-rally was held at F.D.R.
Roosevelt St. Park. Hosts were John and Ruby McWaters.
Activities Covered Dish Supper, fireside fellowship, Chinook
Convoy to Calaway Gardens, F.D.R.’s Little White House,
Historic Warm Springs and ate at the famous Bulloch House.

Draining the fresh water tank
Periodically it is necessary to drain the fresh water system.
Opening the water tank drain petcock and the hot and cold line
petcocks do this. On rear entry models, all three petcocks are
located inside the coach. On side entry models, the water line
drain petcocks are inside the coach, while the water tank drain
petcock is on the bottom of the tank located below the coach. The
water heater anode rod must be removed to drain the water
heater.
Winterizing fresh water system
To winterize the fresh water system simply drain the fresh water
lines and tank. This will help ensure that there will be no damage
to the lines or tank.
**Caution (side entry models) Because the fresh water tank
on the side entry models is located on the exterior of the
coach (mounted below the coach floor), it is subject to
freezing temperatures. While the insulation covering the tank
will prevent the water from freezing under mildly subfreezing
conditions (in the mid 20's degrees F) for two to three days.
The water will eventually freeze under prolonged sub-freezing
conditions.
Winterizing waste water system
After draining the wastewater tanks, add a recommended solution
to prevent freezing in traps and other water filled cavities in the
drainage system.

Chinook Warranty Covers:
Chinook warrants to the original owner of each new model
Chinook Motorhome that for a period of thirty-six (36) months or
36,000 miles, whichever comes first, it will repair or at its option
replace any defects resulting from poor Chinook workmanship on
the motorhome manufactured by Chinook.
Chinook does not manufacture the chassis, chassis equipment,
nor the trade equipment installed in the motorhome, such as the
refrigerator, range, heater, air conditioner, power plant,
television, video cassette players, etc. The chassis and such trade
equipment are warranted separately by the manufacturers of each
product. The Chinook warranty applies only to the labor and
materials provided by Chinook in the installation of such items.
What is not Covered by Warranty:
1. Malfunctions resulting from misuse, negligence, alteration,
accident, lack of required maintenance, overloading beyond
the applicable weight rating, use of circuits, voltages or
frequencies other than those indicated on the appliance
name plate;
2. Loss of time, inconvenience, loss of use of the motorhome,
towing charges, rental cars or other consequential damages;
3. Any motorhome on which the odometer mileage has been
altered and the actual mileage cannot be readily
determined;

4. Any motorhome registered and normally operated outside
of the United States or Canada. The warranty for these
motorhomes shall be that authorized for the country in
which the vehicle is registered and normally operated.
5. The warranty is valid only to the original owner. It does not
cover subsequent owners of the motorhome.
Chinook Obligations:
1. Repairs qualifying under this warranty will be performed by
an authorized Chinook dealer or the Chinook service
department upon a prearranged appointment.
2. During the first ninety (90) days of the warranty period,
any authorized Chinook dealer will make the following
service adjustments, if needed, at no charge to the owner.
a.
Fix any electrical shorts
b.
Check the L.P.G. system
c.
Tighten bolts, fasteners and fittings
d.
Fix any and all water leaks (one year)
