Pewter board
Double-sided pewter
Ball tools
Paper stumps
Methylated spirits
Patina
Brasso
Heritage Star spray varnish
Bees wax
Instructions
•
Trace your design onto the Pewter with the small ball tool.
•
Place Pewter face down onto the velt side of the pewter board, firmly trace with a ball tool the
inside of the shapes, this starts the raising process.
•
Turn Pewter face up onto board and flatten the areas that are not going to be raised.
•
Turn Pewter onto velt side and use the paper stumps to push out the Pewter- high relief.
•
Keep following these two steps until you are happy with the raised areas.
•
Fill the back with bees wax and leave to set.
•
Wearing a pair of gloves (patina is toxic), put five drops of patina onto batting and rub gently
all over the pewter – leave for one minute.
•
Polish the pewter with a piece of batting dipped in Brasso, using circular movements.
•
•
The Brasso removes the black patina and eventually exposes the silver pewter again,
leaving the recesses dark and raised areas silver.
Once you have removed the black patina from the pewter, polish well with a soft cloth until
the pewter is nice and shiny.
•
Glue the pewter onto wood or stone.

•
Cut out serviette design and remove the back layers.
Wipe the back of the plate with meths to get rid of all the dust and dirt.
NB: always remember you are working on the back of the plate.
Decide where you are going to place the serviette. Hold and gently, from the centre outwards,
glue down with podge.
Dip finger into podge and rub over serviette, removing folds and bubbles, be careful not to tear
the serviette – leave to dry.
With white craft paint, paint on the back of the serviette; do not go over the edges as it will show
at the front.
You can cover the back with paint, mulberry paper, glitter and angel hair.
The paint is best sponged on – as it leaves no brush strokes - more than one colour can be used (metallic colours work the best).
Paint a few coats so that nothing shines through and then cover with one colour paint to give
an even finish.
Leave to dry completely and give two coats of solvent based varnish, brushes must be
cleaned with turpentine.
Can be sealed with the CPG podge and baked in the oven @ 90° C for 1 hour.
Trim the edges with a craft knife to give a nice finished look.
The item must be hand washed.
