My research focuses on defects in vesicle
trafficking and protein sorting that underlie
neurodegenerative diseases such as ALS,
Huntington’s and Parkinson’s Disease.
Dr. Park’s primary research interest is the study of
how death-signaling molecules interact to regulate
the death process occurring in neurodegenerative
conditions including stroke and Parkinson’s
disease.
Dr. Renaud is an expert in cellular
neurophysiology. He is particularly interested in
the study of neurotransmission in the brain and
spinal cord.
Diagnostic approaches and basic science aspects

care in Ontario.
Clinical trials in headache.
Dr. Slack has extensive expertise in the
identification of molecular mechanisms that
regulate pluripotent cell self-renewal, progenitor
numbers and neurogenesis (the development of
new neuronal cells). Her research may facilitate
the regeneration of brain cells after acute injury.
Clinical stroke research and imaging.
Dr. Thompson has expertise in laboratory models
of preconditioning against stroke and in the
assessment of cognitive and motor recovery from
stroke. He has developed ways to use cultured
cells to reveal molecular mechanisms involved in
the induction of ischemic tolerance in the brain by
preconditioning.
