Welcome to the
GATLEY BIKE FEST
Bike Treasure Hunt
This bike treasure hunt is simplicity itself. Most of the course is off-road so it’s a
great way for families to have fun together
Simply follow the route notes and use the written and picture clues to locate a letter
on a series of road signs, shop signs and so on and make a note of each letter as you
find it.
We’ve also thrown in a number of other interesting things to find along the way,
just for fun.
As you collect the letters, (there are 12 in total) make a note of them here:

When you’ve collected all the letters, simply re-arrange them to spell out a famous
cycling event.

Route:
From the end of Beech Avenue, follow the bridlepath
underneath the railway and on to Foxland Road.

Follow Foxland Road to the very end, near the A34 (Kingsway).

Route:
Turn left along High Grove Road
Route:
Immediately before Milton Crescent, turn right along the footpath,
Cross over the bridge and follow the path straight ahead.

Look for words carved into bark
Find the 1st of 2 initials, above NAT

Route:
Follow the cobbled path and dirt track to the end where it meets
Wilmslow road.
Use the crossing island to cross Wilmslow Road and turn right.
Turn left into Brookfield Park.
After 100 yards follow the footpath to the left, cross over the brook
and onto Brookfield Road.

Continue along Oak Road.

Follow Oak Road to the very end and turn left onto Stockport Road.
Please dismount from your bikes and use the pavement.

Turn right immediately before Maxwell Car Sales garage.
Follow the narrow road for several hundred yards, go under the railway
and follow the lane into Abney Park to the notice board.

Follow the footpath straight on, all the way to Abney Hall

that leads out of Abney Park.

Turn left out of Abney Hall and cross over Manchester Road
using the pelican crossing. Follow the road back towards Cheadle
and turn right onto Mill Lane.
Continue along Mill Lane (with the hospital on your left).

and follow the cycle route sign towards Cheadle,
go under the railway bridge.

Follow Brook Street for 200 yards and turn right on Hall Street,
then left along a passage way between the
Church and the White Hart pub

Turn right onto Cheadle High street towards Gatley.
Cross the road at the pelican crossing.
Clue:
Find this sign where you can get a trim and a clip,
Look for white words on a purple strip.
