gavin lloyd baker Personal Summary A senior Architect with over 14 years of practical experience, Lloyd is an accomplished Project Architect with a well rounded knowledge of all aspects of design. Lloyd entered professional practice in 2000, joining Capita Architecture, where he was responsible for the design and realisation of a diverse range of projects in both private and public sectors and encompassing various procurement routes. He worked on many high profile projects, such as Derby and Whiston Hospitals, the Swansea SA1 Masterplan and the award winning Bindles housing project in Cardiff. In 2007 Lloyd relocated to the Caribbean where he was Project Architect for four community hospitals in Trinidad and Tobago. Lloyd is able to manage a team capable of delivering the highest client aspirations. In 2009 he joined the Special Projects Team of Capita and was a key contributor to several prominent international projects. These included Bangor Arts Centre, The International School of Luxembourg, a Dance and Music Centre for The Hague and most notably he was Project Architect for the award winning Sherman Cymru Theatre Project which was completed in 2012. After the completion of the Sherman, Lloyd relocated to New Zealand where he joined the multi-award winning Warren and Mahoney Architects where he was Project Architect for Christchurch Hospital, New Zealand’s biggest ever health building project. In 2014 Lloyd returned to the UK to work for the award winning Batterham Matthews Design in Bath. The project includes 10 operating theatres, inpatient beds, a helipad, a new Emergency Department, Assessment Units, and Radiology Department, including services for children. The project, involved the modernisation of the public areas, redevelopment of the foyer areas and the refurbishment of the backstage areas to improve both rehearsal and office space. The care home will also cater for people with dementia and those who require specialist care associated with their weight. The design intent is for the creation of a comfortable and homely environment which will also be an asset to the local community. The health centres will contain clinical diagnostic, treatment and accident and emergency facilities for four districts of Trinidad. During this period I was co-located to Port-of-Span, Trinidad. The project involves the redevelopment of two major hospital sites in St Helens and Knowsley. The £600m project is one of the largest healthcare PFI projects ever to be delivered and is the largest single investment in healthcare in Merseyside since the NHS was formed. The project comprised of the demolition of the pre 1970’s facilities and the redevelopment of a new 1,159-bed acute hospital and specialist care diagnostics centre. The site is located adjacent to the Promenade and Marine Lake at The Knap, Barry, with extensive views of the Bristol Channel. Winner of the 2004 Welsh Housing Design Awards.
