 DAA SITE DIRECTOR
Site directors at Dubai American Academy assist the Athletic Director to ensure the smooth
running of locally hosted tournaments as well as MESAC, (our international sport tournament
for Junior Varsity and Varsity teams). This role provides an opportunity for colleagues to take
on higher levels of responsibility and develop communication and organisational skills, while
supporting the Athletic Program at DAA.
Site Directors focus on organising the day to day running of an event and managing the
visiting school's athletes, officials and any sport related concern regarding the event. Site
Directors are essential to the success of all hosted tournaments.
Specific requirements:
❏ Coordinate the entire sports tournament and work cooperatively with the
Athletic/Tournament Director to ensure the event runs smoothly and efficiently
❏ Assist Athletic/Tournament Director in hosting the coaches meeting the night before
MESAC competitions
❏ Have a clear understanding of the specific rules and regulations for the sport
(including modified MESAC rules)
❏ Provide clarification to coaches and officials of any confusion or misinterpretation of
rules that may arise
❏ Deal with any coaches disputes towards officials, umpires, referees or other school
coaches
❏ Responsible for all results. Collecting results, posting results, updating scoresheets/
scoreboard and organising final seedings (where appropriate)
❏ Provide ongoing feedback to officials and umpires. Ensure that sport rules are being
followed and upheld. Give positive feedback and comment of areas of concern (being
too lenient on backchat, fouls, travel) etc.
❏ Responsible for ensuring score keepers and linesmen remain professional and on task
❏ Responsible for selection of officials for finals. Liase with coaches where appropriate
❏ Manage ‘red’ and ‘yellow’ cards infringements in Soccer
❏ Assist the Athletic/Tournament Director in the Awards Ceremony
❏ Facilitate the Post Tournament Coaches meeting. Making notes of any areas of
concerns, tournament issues as well as tournament strengths
