Freedom Drive II ®
The available Trail Rated fortitude of Jeep Patriot gives you the

ability to courageously take on the road, trail, or stream with
confidence. This badge of honour is only bestowed after mastering
a series of gruelling tests on the toughest terrain in five distinct
categories: traction; articulation; water fording(4); manoeuvrability;
and ground clearance.
This available system gives Patriot its Trail Rated capability with
features like full-time 4WD with LOCK mode, Off-Road mode
with Hill Descent Control, and brake traction control. Torque is
adjusted on-demand for added fuel efficiency. Its all-weather
capability expertly handles more difficult off-road situations, as
well as deeper snow, mud, and up to 48 cm (19 inches) of water.(4)
When snow, muddy roads, or steep gravel describes your route,
opt for Freedom Drive I. The active, full-time 4WD capability
with LOCK mode features an Electronically Controlled Coupling
(ECC), which constantly monitors wheel slippage and transfers
torque to the axle that can use it most. In tough conditions, the
system can be locked 50/50 front/rear for added low-speed
capability and control.
ALL-NEW SIX-SPEED
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
Pair the available new PowerTech six-speed automatic
transmission to either of Patriot’s capable engine offerings
for a smoother, quieter ride whether you’re travelling on road
or trail. This new six-speed has a low first gear for quicker
takeoffs and a tall top gear for relaxed highway cruising.
A stepped shift schedule across all six gears is designed for
optimal city fuel economy. Its fill-for-life design helps reduce
maintenance costs and environmental impact.
Continuously Variable
Automatic Transaxle II (CVT2)
This available system boasts a low range that provides the torque
multiplication needed for water fording,(4) steep grades, and
crawling slowly in off-road events. Includes Off-Road mode that
delivers an off-road-capable 19:1 crawl ratio.

Offering more than 30 safety and security features, it’s safe to say Patriot has your front, sides, and back. The 2013
Jeep Patriot was awarded a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (when equipped with
side-seat air bags).
TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING.
Embedded sensors continuously monitor tire
pressure and will immediately notify the driver
when the pressure is too low or too high. Standard.
New standard front-seat-mounted
side air bags.(9)
Each side seat air bag has its own sensor to
autonomously trigger the air bag on the side
where the impact occurs.
HALOGEN LIGHTING.
These bright sources of light improve down-road
visibility at night or during inclement weather.
Headlamps are standard; fog lamps are available.
Hill Start Assist (HSA).
Melt snow and ice off your sideview mirrors as you
warm up your interior. This available feature also
helps to keep your mirrors ice-free as you drive.
HSA helps prevent Patriot from rolling when starting
on an up- or downhill gradient by holding the vehicle
stationary for two seconds after the driver’s foot
is removed from the brake pedal, allowing time to
apply the throttle. Standard with manual transmission,
and included with the Trail Rated,® Freedom Drive II®
Off-Road Group.

An advanced system designed to assist drivers in
maintaining control of their vehicle at all times. It
integrates a four-wheel antilock brake system (ABS)
with hydraulic Brake Assist, all-speed traction control,

driver input against the vehicle’s actual course. When
needed, the system automatically helps provide
braking to the appropriate wheel(s) and reduces
engine power when overly sharp steering and/or
