The Geneva Health Forum 2016
The Geneva Health Forum (GHF), a biennial event launched in 2006 and held in
the Spring, combines plenary and parallel sessions attended by hundreds of
participants, with a large international
exhibition area.
The GHF also provides a platform for
showcasing the international and humanitarian, practice and solution-oriented
commitment of the HUG and gives a
voice to those active in the frontlines
of global health.
Geneva University Hospitals (HUG) along
with the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Geneva, and Swiss public
institutions committed to Global Health
have joined their talents and resources
to organize the Geneva Health Forum.
Geneva provides a unique opportunity to
the leading global health organizations
to meet with governmental delegations
appointed by most countries through
their permanent UN representations.
Indeed, Geneva hosts major international organizations in charge of health
and humanitarian action, influential
foundations, NGOs and public-private
partnership organizations in the field of
global health.
The GHF was established to link policy and practice, and addresses health
issues through an integrative approach. It
is known as the largest event in Europe
gathering such a distinguished audience, composed of academic leaders,
practitioners, policy makers, diplomats,
representatives of donor agencies and
healthcare providers.
Keynotes lectures and plenary sessions
are given by international health leaders, and series of workshops, oral and
poster sessions are held. These foster
and nurture stimulating discussions on
major global health issues. All plenary
sessions as well as a track of parallel
sessions are simultaneously translated
in French and English.
The Lake Geneva area, often described
as the “Health Valley”, presents a unique
concentration of healthcare and academic institutions, and is blooming with
many innovative biotech, medtech, and
engineering start-ups as well as larger
companies in the health sector.
The sixth edition of GHF, will take place
from April 19-21, 2016 at the International Conference Center of Geneva (CICG),
and will focus on sustainable and affordable innovations in healthcare.

Call for Contributions
Contributions to the scientific program of the Global Health Forum 2016
(workshops, oral presentations and
poster sessions) are requested and
should focus on the forum’s main
theme: sustainable and affordable
innovations in healthcare.
The proposals should commit to discuss
on innovative solutions for healthcare
systems, that have to be both affordable (i.e. proving to be far less costly than
current solutions on the market) and sustainable (e.g. including low-cost maintenance programs). Solutions which have
been already implemented with success
and evaluated will be prioritized. Innovations do not mean only technological
solutions; it may also take into consideration human resources, mental health
programs, preventive medicine, drug
delivery systems, quality assurance for
health care, etc. Innovation in health
care does not involve the health sector
only: it may also concern waste management, energy supply, food or water
delivery at hospital, emergency transportation, etc. Reverse innovations are
particularly welcomed.
A previous call for expression of interest to participate in the exhibition area
of the Geneva Health Forum 2016 has
been issued separately in March 2015.
Proposals to participate as speakers,
authors of posters, or as organisors
and/or sponsors of workshops at the
GHF2016 shall be submitted online at
http://ghf2016.org
before September, 1st, 2015.
Applications will be reviewed by the
GHF2016 Scientific and Partners Committee (SPC). Results will be communicated by email to each applicant by
November, 15th, 2015. During the forum,
outstanding presentations and posters
will be awarded.
Speakers and at least one author of proposed posters are expected to register
to the GHF2016 upon acceptance of
their contribution. In some cases, part
of registration fees could be waived in
order to facilitate access of participants,
in particular for students and attendees
from low and middle income countries.
Workshops organizers are expected to
find sponsors which contribute financially to the cost of the conference.
However, in some cases, part of these
costs could be waived in order to facilitate access of participants from low and
middle income countries.
