Words of Wisdom from Featured Teachers
“Be yourself.
Don’t be afraid to be the “real” you. Not the person everyone thinks you are, or the person you think everyone wants you to be.
When you leave these halls, you will never be in such a confined space of people ever again. It’s easy to think that the person you
have represented yourself to be is who you are for the rest of your life. Graduating from high school is merely the end of a phase,
and every phase in life teaches us something of who we are becoming. And the point is that we are always becoming. Be mindful of
the direction your experiences are taking you. If you lose sight of the person you want to be, then you will become like whomever
you spend the most time with, rather than your own, best version of you.
Go with your cup empty.
If you walk through life thinking that you have nothing to learn, then you won’t. Be humble enough to admit that you don’t know
enough to know what you don’t yet know. Sometimes our perception is our own worst enemy, because we think we are good at
something. However, what makes the greatest masters in any area great (like Bruce Lee, or Bill Gates, or Stephen Hawking) is that
they always approach situations in life with the idea that they can improve their craft, science or skill. Always go with your cup
empty, so that you have room to grow.
Leave the world a better place than you found it.
If we walk through life thinking that everyone owes us something, then the world will become an ugly, used up place. Instead, ask
what you can give, rather than what you can take. Be aware of those around you and if you see a need, fill it. This is a simple idea
that when magnified, has the potential to move mountains. Remember that because we are all part of the human family, everyone we
meet (and even people we never meet) fall into our circle of obligation. If you have the power to make a positive impact, then you
have a moral obligation to do it. “

Surround yourself with successful people. Choose your friends from those who are your superiors in some way. Being buddies with
the party animal and the good-times guy is easy, but he won't bring out your best. Find someone whom you aspire to be, and make
that person your friend...and for God's sake, marry 'up.”
