American Red Cross (Non-Governmental/Non Profit)

The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in
the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and
the generosity of donors. We aspire to turn compassion into action
so that...all people affected by disaster across the country and
around the world receive care, shelter and hope; our communities
are ready and prepared for disasters; everyone in our country has
access to safe, lifesaving blood and blood products; all members of
our armed services and their families find support and comfort
whenever needed; and in an emergency, there are always trained
individuals nearby, ready to use their Red Cross skills to save lives.
API Chaya (Non-Governmental/Non Profit)
Locations: Seattle,WA
API Chaya seeks to end systemic violence in our communities. We
have served thousands of people and worked with dozens of
community groups for community organizing and education
regarding prevention and direct services for sexual and domestic
violence, exploitation, and human trafficking. We understand the
cultural norms and stigmas associated with such violence and
believe in the inherent strength and potential of each person to
address situations in which there has been systematic emotional
and physical violence.
Global WACh (UW Affiliate)
Locations: Seattle, WA
Global WACh is a cooperative effort and as such provides the
expertise from the UW Departments of Global Health, Pediatrics
and Obstetrics and Gynecology that is required to approach
maternal child health from a lifecycle perspective. Global WACh
was created to break down the traditional silos between
departments and capitalize on the benefits created when multiple
disciplines approach a topic with the same end goal in mind.
Maternal health expertise from the Department of
Obstetrics/Gynecology, neonatal and child health expertise from
the Department of Pediatrics, and vast experience working in
infectious disease, health metrics and evaluation, education,
clinical research, and service delivery within the Department of
Global Health all combine to create a methodology that views
women, children, and adolescents not as three independent
populations but as interconnected.
Global to Local (Non-Governmental/Non Profit)
Locations: SeaTac, WA
Global to Local (G2L) was created by partnerships by HealthPoint
Community Health Clinics, Public Health Seattle & King County,
Swedish Health Services, and the Washington Global Health
Alliance. The organization’s mission is to use global health
strategies to improve local health disparities.
Mobility Outreach International (Non-Governmental/ Non Profit)
Locations: Sierra Leone, Vietnam, Haiti
Mobility Outreach International enables mobility in neglected
areas of the world. We envision a world where everyone is
physically mobile and independent. We aim to strengthen the
health systems of the countries that we work in through
government partnership and local capacity building. Our 3 core
programs include: Clubfoot treatment with the Ponseti method;
Locally made Prosthetics and Orthotics; and orthopedic surgery
training.

Health Alliance International’s (HAI) mission is to promote policies
and support programs that strengthen government primary health

(IDRI)

As a non-profit global health organization, IDRI (Infectious Disease
Research Institute) takes a comprehensive approach to combat
infectious diseases, combining the high-quality science of a
research organization with the product development capabilities of
a biotech company to create new diagnostics, drugs and vaccines.
IDRI combines passion for improving human health with the
understanding that it is not just what our scientists know about
disease, but what we do to change its course that will have the
greatest impact. Founded in 1993, IDRI has 125 employees
headquartered in Seattle with nearly 100 partners/collaborators
around the world.
International Training & Education Center for Health (I-TECH) (UW
Affiliate)
Locations: Sub-Saharan Africa, Caribbean, Asia
The International Training and Education Center for Health (I-TECH)
is a center in the University of Washington's Department of Global
Health, in partnership with the University of California, San
Francisco. I-TECH has offices in Africa, India, and Haiti, and projects
in more than twenty countries. I-TECH's 700 worldwide staff work
with local ministries of health, universities, non-governmental
organizations (NGOs), medical facilities, and other partners to
support the development of a skilled health work force and wellorganized national health delivery systems.
Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) (UW Affiliate)
Locations: University of Washington
Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) is an
independent research center identifying the best strategies to
build a healthier world. By measuring health, tracking program
performance, finding ways to maximize health system impact, and
developing innovative measurement systems, IHME provides a
foundation for informed decision-making that ultimately will lead
to better health for people worldwide.
Peace Corps (Governmental)
Locations: Africa, Latin America, Asia, Eastern Europe, Pacific
Islands, and Caribbean
The Peace Corp was established to promote to promote world
peace and friendship by providing members of interested countries
with technical skills and knowledge; promoting understanding of
Americans on behalf of the people served; and to provide a better
understanding others on behalf of Americans. Health volunteers
work with local governments, clinics, NGOs, and communities at
the grassroots level. They focus on outreach and behavior changes
in areas such as HIV/AIDS, nutrition, family planning, hygiene, and
water sanitation.
Strengthening Care Opportunities through Partnership in Ethiopia
(SCOPE) (Non-Governmental, UW Affiliate)
Location: Ethiopia
SCOPE is an initiative in the UW's Department of Global Health that
partners with medical and faith communities to improve health in
areas affected by HIV/AIDS. Our vision is healthy families SCOPE's
programs focus on improving access to healthcare for women,
children, and people living with HIV/AIDS in the Gondar region of
Ethiopia. Current projects focus on harnessing the power of faith
communities to improve rates of antenatal care, assisted birth, and
adherence to antiretroviral drugs.
Sea Mar Community Health Centers (Non-Governmental/Non
Profit)

Sea Mar Community Health Centers is a community-based
organization committed to providing quality comprehensive
health, human services to diverse communities, specializing in
service to Latinos.
Seattle & King County Public Health (Governmental)
Locations: King County, WA
Ensuring all residents of King County have safer, healthier places to
live, learn, work and play. The Environmental Health Services
Division focuses on prevention of disease through sanitation, safe
food and water, proper disposal of wastes and toxics, and
promoting safe and healthy environmental conditions for the
benefit of all residents and visitors.
Center for Infectious Disease Research (Non-Governmental/Non

Seattle Biomedical Research Institute (Seattle BioMed) was
founded at a time when infectious disease research in the U.S. was
rare. Our founder had a vision to create a place where the

Founded in 1969, SightLife is the only non-profit global health
organization solely focused on eliminating corneal blindness in the
U.S. and around the world. Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, the
organization leverages innovative technologies and best business
practices to transform lives and unlock life's possibilities for the
corneal blind. SightLife works in partnership with surgeons and
health organizations in dozens of countries.
U.S. Fund for UNICEF (UNICEF) (Non-Governmental/Non Profit)
Locations: World Wide
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) works in more than
190 countries and territories to save and protect the world's most
vulnerable children by providing health care and immunizations,
clean water and sanitation, nutrition, education, emergency relief
and more. The U.S. Fund for UNICEF supports UNICEF's work, and
other efforts in support of the world's children, through
fundraising, advocacy and education in the United States.
University of Washington Department of Global Health and the
Global Health Resource Center (UW Affiliated)
Locations: Seattle, WA
The Department offers funding and fieldwork opportunities
through the Global Health Resource Center (GHRC) to
undergraduate, graduate, and professional students as well as
residents and post-doctoral fellows. The GHRC offers a variety of
recurring events throughout the year, including the annual
Western Regional International Health Conference, held this year
from April 4-6 at the University of Washington.
University of Washington Study Abroad (UW Affiliated)

The UW Study Abroad Office mobilizes students around the world
to participate in academic programs ranging from university
exchanges to internships.

VillageReach improves access to healthcare around the world. We
partner with governments, businesses, nonprofits, and other
organizations to improve the performance and reliability of health
systems in the most inaccessible and isolated last mile
communities.
Washington State Department of Health (Governmental)

The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) works with
federal, state, and local partners to help people in Washington stay
healthy and safe. Our programs and services help prevent illness
and injury, promote healthy places to live and work, provide
education to help people make good health decisions and ensure
our state is prepared for emergencies. DOH recognizes that
