GOLD COAST AIRPORT CELEBRATES WORLD INDUSTRY
AWARD WIN
Gold Coast Airport is thrilled to announce an overnight award win after being named the Best
Regional Airport Australia/Pacific at the Skytrax World Airport Awards held in Paris last night.
The Skytrax World Airport Awards is held annually in conjunction with the World Airline Awards,
and is a customer survey and airport awards process that is independent, impartial and global.
Gold Coast Airport Chief Operating Officer David Collins is in Paris to receive the award, and said
the award win is a credit to the Gold Coast Airport community.
“Winning the Skytrax award is a credit not only to all our Gold Coast Airport staff, but to those
people who are employed in businesses at the airport.
“The most significant part of these awards is that they are based on feedback from our
passengers – it is not an award that the airport can enter. So to be recognised by the travelling
public based on their experiences at Gold Coast Airport is very important.
“The Skytrax awards are very prestigious world awards and will help not only lift our profile
globally, but also increase the profile of the Gold Coast and Northern Rivers region as a
destination.
“On behalf of all our staff at Gold Coast Airport, we are truly honoured to win this award. To be
held in such high esteem by our airline passengers is very humbling and we’d like to thank them
for their continued support,” Mr Collins said.
Skytrax is the world’s largest airline and airport review site, and the World Airport Awards are
based on 13.02 million survey questionnaires completed by over 112 different nationalities of
airline passengers, covering 550 airports worldwide.
Gold Coast Airport ranked 3rd in the best airport staff category within Australia/Pacific.
Gold Coast Airport also performed well on the world stage, ranking 9th as best regional airport
worldwide, and 5th in the 5-10 million passenger category.
2015 marks the 2nd Skytrax award win for Gold Coast Airport, having last won the coveted award
in 2011.
