Hawaiian Golf Tour Itinerary May 2015

Hawaiian Golf Tour Itinerary
May 2015
Tue 5: ARRIVE WAIKIKI - HONOLULU
After disembarking your arrival flight at Honolulu Airport (and clearing Customs and Immigration if you have flown from other
than the USA mainland) you will be met and transferred to your Waikiki hotel, the ideally located Hawaii Prince Hotel.
View from room at Hawaii Prince Hotel
The remainder of the day will be free to enjoy the ocean-side locale and familiarise yourself with your surroundings. Take a
scenic sightseeing excursion head to the heart of the Waikiki strip and enjoy the vibrancy and colour on offer from the array of
shopping, cafes, restaurants and of course the wonderful strip of beach that has made this area world famous.
This evening we will gather together and enjoy our Welcome Dinner in the hotel’s fine restaurant.
Wed 6: WAIKIKI
You will enjoy your first Hawaiian golfing experience with a visit to the course that is incorporated with our hotel – the Hawaii
Prince Golf Club. This course is designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay and offers 27 dramatic holes. Situated on the island
of Oahu’s sunny Ewa Plain the course boasts a sheer beauty and stunning views of the Waianae Mountains. Long verdant
fairways are lined with numerous white-sand bunkers and strategically placed lakes.
Thu 7: WAIKIKI
You will enjoy another golfing highlight today when you will be transferred to the Ko Olina Golf Resort located on the sunny
western shore of Oahu. Tee off at this beautiful Resort Course and eliminate any golfing cobwebs.
Ko Olina Golf Course
Ko Olina offers a challenging championship layout with exceptional water features and multi-tiered greens on many holes. The
course is of moderate length and provides large landing areas, making for an enjoyable round in a spectacular setting. Ko Olina
has been host to the LPGA ‘Lotte’ championship since 2012.
Fri 8: WAIKIKI to KAPALUA on MAUI
You will have your morning free to do some shopping on the Waikiki strip or at the Ala Moana Shopping Centre, which is only a
short walk from our hotel, prior to transferring to the Honolulu Airport for our short flight to the scenic island gem that is Maui.
On arrival we will transfer to the Kapalua Resort accommodation that will be our home for the next five nights – the Napili Kai
Resort.
The remainder of the day will be yours to settle in and explore your wonderful and relaxing surroundings on the shores of Napili
Bay.
Sat 9: KAPALUA
It is only a short walk today for our round of golf on the adjacent Bay Course of the Kapalua Resort area.
The Signature Par 3 on the Bay Course, Kapalua
Designed by Arnold Palmer and Francis Duane in 1975, the Bay Course typifies what many golfers expect to find in a Hawaii
golf experience. It is a mature, beautifully landscaped and manicured course which winds its way through towering palms and
flowering hibiscus. You will enjoy an 18-hole journey that features the only hole on Maui to play over the ocean and a number
of charming diversions, such as humpback whales breaching and waves crashing, along the way. The views are stunning, the
playing conditions pristine and the service impeccable. The Bay Course is where Greg Norman’s had his first victory on
American soil and it has hosted over 20 professional tournaments – the most of any neighbour island course.
Sun 10: KAPALUA
This is a free day. You will have already whetted your appetite by now to explore this scenic paradise during the day and a half
you have experienced in this magical place. There are ocean cruises, scenic half day walks or perhaps a 20 minute bus ride
into Front Street in the town of Lahaina to enjoy its array of shops, cafés and restaurants.
For the golfaholic it is a chance to play the famous Plantation Golf Course which is only a short shuttle distance away. This is
a course that ranks among the world’s greatest courses. So special, even the PGA Tour only allows winners from the previous
year to tee it up at its season opening event, the Hyundai Tournament of Champions.
The best option of course may be just to relax in the grounds of Napili Kai’s superb environment with its own sheltered ocean
bay beach, restaurant and bar area and other amenities.
Mon 11: KAPALUA
This afternoon we transfer the 15 minutes to the Kaanapali Resort area and play the Royal Course at Ka’anapali.
This is a Robert Trent Jones Senior design, opened in 1962 and has tested the skills of golf professionals and amateurs alike.
Combining wide fairways and undulating greens, the Royal Ka'anapali Course provides an opportunity for golfers to test their
short game. This recently renovated course (2006) is both distinctive and demanding and offers distracting views playing along
the white sandy coastline. It combines great bunkering, wide fairways and undulating greens.
The Royal Ka'anapali Course played host to Shell's Wonderful World of Golf, the LPGA Kemper Open, the Ka'anapali Classic
(14 years) and more recently the Ka'anapali Champions Tour Skins Game.
Following golf we stay on the Ka’anapali Resort and this evening we enjoy a traditional Luau Show and Dinner at one of the
resort’s beach side complexes. The Royal Lahaina Luau is an exciting and renowned production that will take you through the
culture and dances of Hawaii, Tahiti and more. It includes a traditional luau buffet feast and open bar.
At the end of the evening we transfer back to the Napili Kai.
Tue 12: KAPALUA
Today we will play the Bay Course at Kapalua for a second time, giving us the chance to learn from our earlier experience and
either repeat the good score or to get revenge on this attractive and challenging course.
This evening, our final one on Maui, we will join together for a Farewell Dinner occasion and be able to recall stories of the
previous busy week of golf and relaxation.
Wed 13: KAPALUA to HONOLULU to HOME
This morning we will transfer back to Maui’s Airport at Kahului for the short return flight to Honolulu in time to board our various
international flights home. Some, of course, may choose to stay longer on Maui, in Waikiki or even visit one or more of the
other interesting islands of Hawaii.
