The cast iron rail holder is the stable link that transfers the
power of the tension cables to the rails. The pre-tension on both
rails is the same thanks to this system. The soft feel and the
predictable response of both rails are the result of this
technology. The ‘mexico‘ uneven bars have originally been
designed for the Olympic Games in mexico in 1968. Our
engineers have modified the bars over the years to meet the
demands of the gymnasts of each generation. The current
dynamics of the ‘mexico’ uneven bars are the same as the
dynamics of the ‘mexico’ uneven bars used at the Olympic Games
in Athens and Beijing.

up when the gymnast or coach steps down to make room for

A completely new padding has been developed making the JF
competition balance beam not only more elegant but a whole lot
safer as well. All metal parts of the beams legs are covered
with a firm and safe padding. Per set for one leg; 2 sets are
needed for one competition balance beam.

The ‘lausanne’ competition balance beam has been designed and
introduced before the World Championships 1997 in lausanne,
switzerland. The cushioning is directly under the feet of the
gymnast. The result is direct response, making the beam
comfortable and stable at the same time. The soft end caps
have been introduced in 1997 as well and have remained the
same even through the Olympic Games in Athens and Beijing.
The ‘lausanne’ competition balance beam has been designed for
stability. The y shaped legs provide a stable base at both ends of
the beam where the routine parts with the highest impact are
performed. An additional shock absorber has been built in at the
ends of the beam to minimise vibration. In 2010 there have been
some major adjustments, the ‘lausanne’ competition balance
beam is now even more stable and it’s suitable for a new thicker
padding.

‘CLUB’ BALANCE BEAM ‘SOFT TOP’

Newly developed ‘club’ balance beam ‘Soft Top’, specially designed
for training purposes. The aluminium beam is covered with an
elastic padding and hygroscopic material. The higher shock
absorption is very comfortable for the gymnast. The balance
between a softer top and stability is a finely tuned one and
allows for exercise repetition with reduced impact force while
maintaining stability. Quick and easy height adjustment from
50­-90 cm with 10 cm increments and from 90-130 cm with
5 cm increments. Length 500 cm. During the height adjustment
the weight of the beam is compensated for by means of a
nitrogen gas loaded spring and the legs stay in the same

‘Pegases’ is the prime example of what Janssen-Fritsen is all
about and has been designed to make vaulting safer. A very
stable base, easy to adjust in height and with all the wishes and
desires of gymnasts and coaches incorporated in one piece of
equipment. ‘Pegases’ is suitable for men’s and women’s
competitions as well as for training at all levels, ‘Pegases’ is
designed for gymnastics. It is ergonomically designed. The hand
placement and sight lines for the gymnast are ideal and the
cushioning material directly under the hands minimizes impact
force on hands, wrists and shoulders. The mechanical part of
‘Pegases’ is engineered unlike most other gymnastic equipment.
It is engineered the Janssen-Fritsen way, solid and precise.
‘Pegases’ was introduced at the World Championships in Ghent
2001. For the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004 and Beijing

training halls. The integrated wheels make it very easy to move

gymnasts to use this vault. The top is 100% the same as the
original Pegases, the height adjustment is assisted by a gas
spring. The bisonyl padding consists of 2 parts who slide over

The Apollo Diagonal floor has been designed from the core
outwards. First the diagonals have been designed with as little
joints as possible in the direction of the acrobatic exercise and
then the floor has been filled-up to get the required square of
14 x 14 metres. The result is a homogeneous floor with
predictable rebound over the entire floor area. A traditional
floor design does not produce this kind of homogeneity. The
result of the Apollo floor is less injury and more stable
performance by all levels of gymnasts.

The ‘Apollo Diagonal’ floor was introduced in 2003 and was
selected to be used at the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004
immediately after its introduction. meanwhile the ‘Apollo
Diagonal’ floor has been installed at major training facilities in
more than 50 countries, including the national training centres
of China, romania and Cuba. The ‘Apollo Diagonal’ floor is the
floor of choice at many major gymnastics competitions such as

the space or the budget for a complete floor. The floor is the
diagonal only from the ‘Apollo Diagonal’ floor, with the same type

rebound characteristics are comparable to the ‘Apollo Diagonal’
floor but as this is a diagonal only, the floor feels softer. This
floor is also often used as a tumbling strip in training halls.

The ring frame ‘Atlas’ is the evolution of our ‘Barcelona’ ring frame.
Although praised for the stiffness of the frame and the shock
absorption qualities of the suspension system, the ‘Barcelona’ ring
frame was developed for the Olympic Games in Barcelona 1992.
After the Games in Athens and Beijing , where the ‘Barcelona’ ring
frame was still used, our engineers evaluated the results of the
many tests made with this ring fame. They came up with better
solutions for the strongest points of the ‘Barcelona’ ring frame.
The stiffness of the frame itself has been further improved by
lowering the cable attachment, the dampening characteristics have
been improved by using a new method of one way shock absorption
in the head of the ring frame. The weakest point of the ‘Barcelona’
ring frame, the fiber rod, has been replaced by rubber shock
absorbers which can be softened manually if younger gymnasts
train on the ‘Atlas’ rings. The conus at the cable exit has been
widened to allow for all modern ring exercises whilst decreasing
the wear on the cables. In training halls the ‘Atlas’ ring frame is
mostly mounted on the ceiling at competition height, to reduce the
amount of cables in the hall.

The parallel bars ‘Pallas’ are stable. The ‘Pallas’
bars have been constructed completely from the
bottom up before the Olympic Games in Athens.
The connection between the base and the
uprights has been improved and the shape of the
uprights has been adapted. The result is bars
that are stable in all directions not only lateral,
but also in the direction of the length of the bars
the uprights provide a very stable basis for the
rails. The connection between the rails and the
uprights is made from precision engineered steel
parts that make the bars easy to operate.
One-handed change of height and width and zero
tolerance on the moving parts make it possible
for gymnasts to perform their routines on the
most stable base available. The ‘Pallas’ was of
course used in Athens and Beijing at the
Olympic Games. In 2010 the rails have been
improved. They now have 3 glass fibre inserts and
they are pre-tensioned. The result is less
vibration in the rails and almost straight rails at
impact during a gymnastic exercise, making the
predictability of the reaction of the apparatus
better again.

The Olympic Games in 1972 were the games where the
horizontal bar ‘munich’ was used for the first time. The basic
ideas like pre-tension on the bar and a dual cable tension system
to reduce movement of the bar and help to further decrease
vibration of the bar are unchanged. The engineering of the
uprights and very importantly the bar itself have been brought
up to the current technical possibilities. The required strength
and flexibility of the horizontal bar rail are at the very limits of
what is metallurgically possible. The Janssen-Fritsen engineers
have succeeded however to keep the capabilities of this
apparatus in line with the ever increasing capabilities of todays
gymnasts.

The pommel horse ‘madrid’ is probably the apparatus which
stayed closest to the origin of gymnastics. The horse with
saddle is still visible in its shape. The requirements of this
apparatus are however a lot higher than 4 legs and a trunk.
The pommel horse routine is by many considered as the most
difficult routine to master. It takes years for any gymnast to be
able to gain the strength, coordination and flexibility to perform
a good pommel routine. The Janssen-Fritsen pommel horse
‘madrid’ provides an excellent basis to make a perfect routine.
The base is stable with its y shaped legs. The leg/trunk
connection is a solid one. The trunk has the right radius on all
sides to give maximum support to the hands and the 100 %
cow leather upholstery gives the grip that specialists require.
The pommels are revolutionary. Aluminium precision tubes
covered with a hygroscopic rubber compound give the gymnast
an excellent grip throughout his routine.

tumbling 2005 in eindhoven. meanwhile this Fig certified tumbling track is
improved and praised for its perfectly balanced dynamics. the carefully selected
combination of specially developed foams, the Janssen-Fritsen rectangular
fibreglass tubes and stable frame result in a very high energy efficiency. the level
of vibration and noise of this track have been reduced to a minimum, thanks to
the rubber casings in which each rod is suspended individually. the dynamic
sections of the competition tumbling track have such a high rebound that they
are often used in training situations for artistic gymnastics as well. Frequent
repetitions are possible with less energy. a full track, the dynamic 25 metres only
or even a few dynamic sections with their special tumbling foam layers: various
lay-outs are possible. ending in a pit, or on tumbling landing mats, the applications
are almost endless.

the total length of the track, run-up and landing area is

the JF ‘club’ floor is often used as a tumbling strip in training
halls. the rebound characteristics are comparable to the ‘apollo
diagonal’ floor but as this is a diagonal only, the floor feels softer
and has more rebound. the total length of the floor is 18.30 m
which reflects the diagonal length of a competition free exercise
floor. 15 elements of 122x200 combined with a floor mat and
foam strip of 20 metres long, 2 metres wide and 45 mm thick,
results in optimal dynamics across the full length of the floor.
the ‘club’ free exercise floor diagonal is delivered with side flaps
to cover the elements, white demarcation tape to mark the
boundaries and blue velcro to connect the active elements.
When used permanently in training halls the floor should be
fixed to the training hall floor to avoid any lateral movement of
the floor.

Young children learn basic motor skills by playing.
given the right equipment and a suitable training program every
child, no matter of which ability, can learn the basic skills needed
for most sports.
a solid foundation is easiest made if the basic motor skills are
taught at an early age.

produced of durable Fsc wood. the newly designed short sides
made of shock absorbing rubber compound give the vaulting box
a great appearance, additional protection, and makes it easy to
maintain. the combination of these materials ensures a long-life
guarantee. extra stability is gained through hardwood
longitudinal slats on the inside of the box and the short sides
are reinforced with a steel core. all holes are reinforced with
steel rods, so benches can be hooked in without damaging the
vaulting box.
consisting of 5 segments. all segments of the vaulting box can
be used separately, each segment fitted with floor protectors.
top section with shape-retaining compound poly foam padding,
covered with first class leather to reduce the risk of injuries
considerably. top section is equipped with features to easily
hook in benches on the long sides. One side offers the possibility
to hook in two benches, the other side offers possibility to hook
in one bench and also contains two holes for connection bars.
the multifunctional and pyramidical bottom section is extremely
stable because it consists of 1 part only and is also provided
with an upholstered deck. therefore it can also be used
independently. bottom segment is fitted with a centrallyoperated built-in transport system with 8 wheels.
