Higher Certificate Circular – new cohort

Higher Certificate in Inclusive Education
Following the positive response to the call for applications for the Higher Certificate in Inclusive
Education (30 ECTS, MQF level 5) offered by MCAST recently, the first cohorts to follow this course
will be starting the course in the coming weeks and will be advised accordingly by MCAST.
In addition to this, following the positive demand for this course, MCAST is now issuing another call
for another cohort to follow this course. This course will now also be offering a supplementary
course for those candidates who do not meet the eligibility criteria or grades for SEC or Ordinary
Level qualifications as indicated in the course requirements.
In fact MCAST will be offering the Higher Certificate in Inclusive Education with supplementary
modules in Maltese, English and Mathematics for those candidates who do not have the required
SEC or Ordinary Level passes in these subjects. Obviously, candidates will be exempted from any of
these supplementary units should they already possess these qualifications or should they achieve
the proficiency test in these subjects.
The price for this Higher Certificate in Inclusive Education will remain unchanged at €500.
This training course for this new cohort is scheduled to start at MCAST in September 2015.
MCAST would also like to clarify that following an exercise to accredit prior learning, candidates with
full Diploma (120 ECTS) accredited at EQF Level 5 and/or a Degree (180 ECTS) accredited at EQF
Level 6 will not need to present SEC or Ordinary Level certificates on application and will be
exempted from sitting for Proficiency Tests.
Training will be held at the MCAST premises and will be offered as an evening course with sessions
being delivered typically twice a week for a period of 27 weeks with each session being 3 ½ hours
long. Successful candidates will be awarded the Higher Certificate in Inclusive Education at the end
of the course. A minimum of 80% attendance is mandatory.
Candidates who are in possession of the Award in Inclusive Education will be exempt from the 4
units covered in that course and that are repeated in this programme.
Interested applicants must fill in the attached application form and send it, together with payment
of €500 and a copy (front and back) of their ID card to the following address. Copies of the
certificates must also be included. Candidates may be asked to present their original certificates for
authentication.
