UNIVERSITY CAREER CENTER FOR ACCEPTING APPLICANTS STARTING FALL 2015/SPRING 2016 GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIP The University Career Center (UCC) is in need of a Master’s Graduate Assistant to support the College of Business Communication 3160 course. The student will be responsible for mock interview services, classroom teaching as it relates to career development services and grade administration for the mock interview process. The UCC strives to provide a comprehensive approach to career preparation by providing all UNC Charlotte students with opportunities to make informed career decisions through career exploration resources, experiential learning opportunities and job search processes. The GA will report to and support the Assistant Director, Business Career Advisor with job functions that include: · Assisting the Business Career Advisor with Communication 3160 faculty requests for resume development, interviewing skills preparation, job search strategies via technology workshops and lessons, interviewing and mock interview services including but not limited to facilitating individual and group/panel mock interviews for over 1100 students in the Fall/Spring semesters, and presentations of our UCC resources. · Accountability for delivering verbal and written feedback to each individual student on the mock interview process and administering grade recommendation for the mock interview assignment for students in the Business Communication 3160 sections. · Aiding with the management of outreach and faculty requests and office drop-in hours. · Assisting with UCC career events and programs (i.e. Career Expos, Mock Interview Day, etc.) and other staff member requests as needed. REQUIREMENTS: We are seeking master’s level Communications and Business students, and who have an interest in career development and working with our college population. Excellent presentation and facilitation skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills, effective writing skills, and a willingness to learn are critical to quality for this position. The ideal candidate must also have impeccable organizational skills and attention to detail. Computer skills that are needed include word processing, composing spreadsheets, and exposure to Microsoft Outlook. Must possess the ability to work independently and see projects through to completion. The position duration is August 2015 through May 2016, with the GA working 20 hours per week. Extension to a full-year assistantship is possible for the 2016-17 school year as well based on work performance.
