SENIOR ACCOUNTANT Grameen America, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping women who have no access to financial institutions build small businesses to create better lives for themselves and their families. We offer microloans, training and support to fight poverty in the United States, starting with the poorest women in every community we serve. Currently, we operate 18 branches across the United States and have an ambitious plan to serve more clients in the next three years. An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Accountant with Grameen America in New York. Reporting to the CFO, s/he will lead a team based in NYC with responsibility for timely and accurate accounting and reporting. Senior Accountant Manage the accounting operations and functions for the organization (head office and 18 branches) to ensure that processes and procedures are in compliance with standard GAAP account regulations and organizational policy Plan, direct and execute all corporate and branch accounting operational functions, including global general ledger and financial statement consolidation Supervise preparation of internal and external reports and registrations for stakeholders including management, funders and donors Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and experience with non-profit accounting principles and procedures Strong proficiency in the use of productivity software Knowledge of Microsoft productivity software (Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Excel) Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage and complete multiple projects simultaneously; capable of rapid coordination and distribution of information Ability to work independently with a high degree of reliability, accuracy and productivity Ability to maintain harmonious working relationships and effectively address complex and sensitive administrative issues throughout the spectrum of our constituents Qualifications & Education: Completed Bachelor’s degree in Accounting together with CPA or equivalent A committed team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills 3-5 years in nonprofit and grant fund accounting Strong time management and multi-tasking abilities as well as ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines Experience with Quick Books; candidates with Intact will be at an advantage Detailed oriented Passion for working in a social enterprise environment High professionalism and ethical standards Familiarity with implementing and working with complex integrated management information and accounting systems a distinct plus Fluency in spoken and written English; Spanish is a plus How to Apply Please send your cover letter and resume with salary expectations to [email protected], including the subject line "Senior Accountant”.
