MIDWEEK Antiques Show confirms opening hours

MidWeek Antiques Show, in Concord, NH during
Antiques Week in New Hampshire are adjusting
their opening hour for this years’ Tuesday, August
4th and 5th show.
Comments Gaglio, “Last year we moved our
Midweek Show to Tuesday following the Americana
Celebration Antiques Show launching Antiques
Week with two popular and important events
opening four hours apart. Attendance appeared
strong and so were sales. This year MidWeek was
scheduled to open at noon however exhibitors and
customers have requested more time between the
show openings and so we are going back to last
year’s opening hour of 1PM on Tuesday, August 4
and 10AM on Wednesday, August 5 consistent with
last year’s schedule. We hope this schedule change
works out best for both shows, exhibiting dealers
and customers alike assuring Antiques Week in New
Hampshire continues successfully”.

Country Inns presents Herb, Food and Beer Tour
Mt Washington Valley, NH – What do basil, brews and
bittersweet all have in common? Guests visiting the Country
Inns in the White Mountains on May 30-31, 2015 will have
the opportunity to taste all of these and much more during
the annual Herb, Food and Beer Tour in Mt Washington
Valley, NH. This celebration of local flavors, combines herb
recipe tastings, tours, take-home seedlings and recipes at
eight White Mountain inns along with cooking demonstrations, a plant-to-plate “herb-inspired” dinner and overnight
stays at a choice of premier Mt Washington Valley, NH inns.
Formerly focused solely on herb tastings, trivia and recipes at
each inn, the Country Inns in the White Mountains have once
again ramped up their annual herb tour this year to include
a celebration of local flavors including visits and tastings at
two local microbreweries, a chocolate maker, a health food
store and three family-owned farms on top of the tours, tastings, recipes at the inns. This is one plant-to-plate weekend
to remember, and not only will you take home inspiration
you’ll leave with a year of culinary ideas and a full stomach!
The perfect spring follow-up to their annual Inn to Inn
Holiday Cookie and Candy Tour and just in time for gardening
season, Country Inns in the White Mountains guests will
usher in spring with a weekend celebrating the gardento-table movement combined with a relaxing learning
and tasting getaway. Here’s how it works: On May 30-31,
2015 join eight premier White Mountains inns for the Mt.
Washington Valley Herb, Food and Beer Tour: A Celebration
of Local Flavors from 11:00am-4:00pm each day, as each inn

presents an in-depth look at a popular culinary herb paired
with tastings of that herb creatively presented in sweet and
savory treats at each inn stop. Tourgoers will receive herb
recipes and the herb seedling being featured at each inn,
offered in peat pots perfect for easy planting and grown
locally by Littlefield Farms. In addition, cooking demonstrations have been added at certain inns too. Participants will
go home with a folder of new recipes from dishes they tasted
plus interesting herbal lore.

The Mt. Washington Valley Herb, Food and Beer Tour
is an annual event available primarily for those booking a
two-night package at one of the Country Inns in the White
Prouty
Mountains. The Lodging packages include two-night stays,
herb-themed breakfasts each morning, two tickets to the
tour, and an optional herb-inspired, plant-to-plate dinner
add-on specially priced for guests of the inns and those
attending the tour. Package prices vary from inn to inn and
also depend upon room choice. Tour tickets are available
in advance by reserving a lodging package directly from
participating inns. To check availability for packages or inns,

of your choice.
A limited number of tickets for those not wishing to
reserve an overnight package will be available for $40 per
person by calling 603-447-2818.
Three course plant-to-plate herb inspired dinners will
take place at the Darby Field Inn, Snowvillage Inn and Inn at
Crystal Lake on Saturday, May 31, 2015. Dinners are available to anyone who has attended the tour at a special rate
of $35 per person. For all those who have not attended the
tour, the three-course plant-to-plate dinner will be $45 per
person (not including tax, tip or beverages). Dinners may be
included as part of the Local Flavors lodging package along
with accommodations, breakfast and tour tickets (or guests
may opt for a package that does not include dinner; package
options will vary by inn).

CANTERBURY, NH: On April 11, 2015, Canterbury Shaker Village will offer “Hands-on Grafting” from 10:00-12:00 pm and “Competent Pruning” from
1:00-3:00 pm. The workshops will be instructed by nationally recognized organic
orchardist, Michael Phillips.
Grafting fruit trees involves a sharp knife and the mindset of a surgeon—but
don’t let that intimidate you! During “Hands-on Grafting,” Instructor Michael Phillips will guide participants in bench grafting, using the whip-and-tongue union to
place a chosen variety on provided rootstock. Participants will have the opportunity
to make their own graft and take two baby trees home. Time will be spent outside
topworking an existing tree
using the bark inlay graft.
Understanding this technique
allows you to create a tree
bearing multiple varieties.
The practical insights shared
in this workshop will launch
many fruit adventures ahead.
Early spring is an ideal
time to prune fruit trees. As

year’s fruiting prospects,

attention. You’ll see the results of appropriate cuts from the perspective of light
space. Better yet, for those so inclined, you’ll make some pruning decisions of your
own under the watchful eye of an experienced fruit grower.
The cost to attend one of the workshops is $35.00 for Canterbury Shaker Village
Members and $40.00 for Non-Members. The cost for both workshops is $60.00 for
Canterbury Shaker Village Members and $75.00 for Non-Members. Preregistration
is required. Participants taking the full day’s workshops are encouraged to bring
a lunch and take advantage of the opportunity for informal discussion with other
students. Canterbury Shaker Village will provide water and hot beverages.
Instructor Michael Phillips is known across the country for helping people grow
healthy fruit. The “community orchard movement” that he helped found at www.
GrowOrganicApples.com provides a full immersion into the holistic approach to
orcharding. His Lost Nation Orchard is part of a medicinal herb farm in northern
New Hampshire. Michael’s newest book, The Holistic Orchard: Tree Fruits and Berries the Biological Way, recently received Garden Book of the Year honors from the
American Horticultural Society.
Michael Phillips will return to Canterbury Shaker Village on May 16 for a full
