Bagpipe Band Competition
Festival attendees will be able to watch some
of the best pipe bands in the Northeast. The
competition will conclude with a pipe band parade
and massed band performance beginning at 4:45
on Saturday
Cultural Building
Among the rich cultural traditions displayed from
the Emerald Isle, this year the Cultural Building
will proudly host: genealogy workshops, photo
contest, Ireland photograph display, cooking
demos, Sunday high tea, Irish dancing school
performances, and more!

ranger run 5K
The Great American Irish Festival will once again
present the Annual “Ranger Run” 5K road race, to
be held on Saturday, July 25th at 10:00 am. This run
will start and end on the Fairgrounds.
Those who register in advance will receive
a run t-shirt. Registrations will be accepted

the elders
The Elders were founded in 1998 by six gentlemen with a
passion for music rooted in American & Celtic folk rock. Their
ability to bring together the art of story-telling with elements
both progressive and rooted in tradition, has won them a
broad international fan base and critical acclaim in numerous
publications.
eileen Ivers
Provides both musical energy and a style that constantly displays
traditionalism. Brilliant fiddler, Eileen Ivers, with her originality
and rhythmic swing provides the bridge Irish music needs to
break through to a mainstream audience.
Glengarry Bhoys
Described as bold, unorthodox, vibrant, and evocative, they
are a hybrid of Canadian Highland Scots and French Canadian
musical idioms that have evolved into a sound that is weighty,
authoritative, and extremely entertaining. Their energy and good
humor, as much a part of the show as their musicianship, crosses
all cultures and ages.
the spain Brothers
Mickey and Liam Spain are second generation performers who
learned folk songs from their father. Mickey’s rich, baritone voice
and Liam’s mastery of stringed instruments are not only a part of
the success of Makem and Spain, they are an important part of
keeping songs of the worker, the sea and the Irish culture alive.

Rathkeltair blends compelling and catchy original songs with
tight, driving straight-ahead rock-n-roll, while never forgetting its
Celtic roots. Based in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, Rathkeltair has
been on the road full-time since 2003, and is highly regarded for
its e energy, showmanship and professionalism.
Barleyjuice
With six studio albums and a double CD collection in their
sporrans to date, these five spirited yanks are currently one of
the most beloved Celtic rock bands in the USA, and a long-time
favorite group to perform at GAIF.
searson
Searson has toured over a decade and continue to develop their
own original style of high energy fiddling, passionate vocals and
step-dancing. Growing up in the Ottawa Valley, these sisters
began studying music and dancing at a young age.

the Fighting Jamesons
The Fighting Jamesons deliver a traditional style of Celtic music
with an aggressive and energetic modern approach, formed in
the tradition of legendary Celtic acts such as Flogging Molly and
the Pogues. The Fighting Jamesons have developed a national
presence due to their versions of Irish and American folk songs.

Electrifying combination of fiddle and cello, with their footstomping, rock-influenced rhythms, this duo has put a fresh,
enticing spin on Celtic and Americana music.
Hair of the Dog
One of the most premiere Celtic rock bands, originally formed
in 1993, HOTD plays with a cohesive oneness that most bands
never get and are a regional music treasure.
1916
Opening for Dropkick Murphys, the Rochester based band is
an explosive concoction of the modern Irish punk movement
with an original mix of psychobilly which gives 1916 a sound that
stands apart from other bands of this genre.
Get up Jack
A reto-romp by six energetic and charismatic performers
in today’s Irish music with soaring vocals and unique
instrumentation.
Kitchen Party
Formed in 2004, they quickly gained a reputation for high quality
professionalism playing all over the northeast, Canada and
Scotland. (Tim can mention their unique bongo duel).
seamus Kennedy
A 37-year veteran of the Irish/Celtic festival circuit, he has learned
the importance of not only being a solid musician and singer, but
also of being an all-round entertainer.
Kennedy’s Kitchen
The band is led by John Kennedy, award winning singer and
guitar player. It’s kitchen music from the home, the hearth, and
the heart. They play fiddle, flutes, whistles, mandolin, bouzouki,
guitar, tenor banjo, harmonica, bohdran, and bass
Blarney rebel Band
The aim of The Blarney Rebel Band is to get the audience
dancing, clapping and singing, with their rousing renditions of
all types of traditional Irish music, it’s all on display by a group of
talented musicians boasting virtuoso musicianship and perfectly
blended harmonies, sure to please old and young alike.

All-female Celtic band known for their harmonies, singing the
Gaelic language and for their Irish wit, performing traditional,
original and modern Celtic/Irish music.
rakish Paddy
With rhythmic guitar, powerful fiddle, smooth vocal and haunting
pennywhistle and bodhran they blend their rock, gypsy and
Celtic influences in a foot-stomping mix.
Kevin mcKrell
Songwriter Kevin McKrell was a founding member of Celtic
Folk Band Donnybrook Fai ,and the Celtic Bluegrass Band The
McKrells. He has performed on festival stages across the United
States, Canada , Ireland and Scotland.
Donal o’shaughnessy
Donal O´Shaughnessy is a multi-talented performer, and self
taught musician playing guitar, fiddle, keyboards, pipe organ,
bodhran and mandolin, a performer of Irish music and ballads.
emerald Dawn
An acoustic Irish band in the Albany, NY area, Emerald Dawn is
comprised of guitar & vocals, mandolin, violin and viola.
Gerry Dixon
Gerry Dixon comes from Buffalo by way of a town, Kilrush, in
County Clare at the southwestern end of Ireland. It was here that
Dixon honed his craft, singing and playing traditional Irish music
and telling stories of his culture.
the stoutmen
The Stoutmen are an Irish folk quartet in the Binghamton area
with straightforward singing of traditional songs in the style of
the Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem, with mix of powerful rebel
songs, jovial drinking songs, and beautiful Irish ballads.
rattlin Bog
Over a period of 28 years the band has performances at festivals
and concerts often including a smorgasbord of musical styles
from a cappella sea shanties to traditional and popular folk, old
time gospel and tunes of Celtic origin.
Craobh Dugan
From Central NY they have been preserving and promoting the
traditional music, song, dance and language of the Irish culture
for over thirty years.
