Requirements:
Band members must be at least 18 years of age upon event date (Saturday, June 27, 2015) &
must be able to provide legal identification for verification purposes. Band members under 18
must submit parental consent along with their bands entry submission.
All contestants must present proper photo ID & sign a waiver that confirms their
personal information & amateur status (not signed to a recording/production contract).
If a contestant/band is ruled ineligible before, during or after the event, the band will
also forfeit any prize he or she may have won to that point in the competition.
Contestants will be judged on stage performance, crowd interaction, vocal ability, song
substance, and sound. Bands must be ready to enter stage at designated time and are
expected to exit at designated time.
All judges’ decisions are final & not subject to change unless a registered contestant is
found to have violated the Battle of Band 2015 contest rules. The contest rules will be posted
online at www.grottoesfire.com. All contestant penalty or elimination decisions will be made
by Battle of the Bands Team.
Finalists Selection:
Band entry submissions (as detailed above) will be reviewed by the Battle of Bands GVFD
Event Team
Bands for event will be the first five (5) entries received meeting entry requirements above.
Judging on June 27th will be based on a band’s stage performance, crowd interaction, vocal
ability, song substance, and sound.

Bands to perform will be notified by email or text by June 3rd. Selected bands will have until
5:00 pm on June 6th to confirm participation in the Battle on June 27, 2015.
Battle of the Bands Event Info:
Date: Saturday, June 27, 2015

Location: Mt. View Park, 20th Street, Grottoes, VA

Show time: 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Bands will each perform a 30 minute set.

Order of performance will be determined by a random drawing in advance of the day of
the show.

Bands will provide all instruments and may have their sound technician assist GVFD
technician
PA system will be provided by GVFD
A permanent structured stage is provided for performances. Finalists will be required to
provide all other equipment including instruments and sound system.

Battle of the Bands 2015 winner will be selected by an on-site panel of judges and will be
announced at the conclusion of event performances.
Winner will receive $1000.00, payable following the announcement of the winning band at
the Battle of the Bands on 6/27/15. The winning band will be offered a night to perform at the
GVFD Annual Lawn Party – Wed. (July 29th, Friday (July 31st) or Saturday night (August 1st). They
will be announced as the Winner of the Battle of Bands and will be paid $600 cash for
performance at Lawn Party at conclusion of performance.
Band Battle 2nd Place Band will receive $_500.00__ payable following the announcement of
the 2nd Place Band at the Battle of the Bands on 6/27/15. The 2nd Place Band will have the
opportunity to perform at the 2015 GVFD Annual Lawn Party on any night that winning band
does not choose to play - Wed. (July 29th, Friday (July 31st) or Saturday night (August 1st). They
will be announced as the 2nd Place Band in the Battle of the Bands and also paid $500.00 cash
for performance at conclusion of performance at Lawn Party.
People’s Choice Band Award will be selected by the Band getting the most money in their
“People’s Choice Jar” during the Battle of the Bands event. Attendees can vote by placing
money into the appropriate band’s jar from 4:00 pm – 7:40 pm. The People’s Choice winner
will receive ½ of the money collected in all band jars at the conclusion of the event on 6/27/15.
