Bio-Degradable Water Descaler GSTIC LimeX ●Non Toxic, ●Non Hazardous, ●Non Corrosive ●Non Flammable● Biodegradable Descalers How LimeX Works LimeX is a water-based solvent containing wetting agents, corrosion inhibitors, anti-foam and degreasing compounds. It is designed to penetrate and remove encrusted lime scale, rust, corrosion products and dirt from water-wetted surfaces in process equipment, e.g., exchangers and liquid-ring vacuum pumps. LimeX can also be used to remove lime scale in commercial and industrial applications. With a pleasant citrus-lime fragrance that masks the obnoxious odors normally associated with dissolving water scale and corrosion, LimeX changes from a pale yellow color to a vivid bluish-purple color when it is spent. It is low foaming and quickly releases the carbon dioxide (CO ) gas generated by the reaction of lime scale with LimeX. 2 Before & After Removes Scales pictures above & makes pipes as good as new Why Use LimeX The formation of scale in process equipment increases pressure drop, requiring more pumping horsepower to maintain volumetric throughput. Heat transfer surfaces gradually become fouled and thermal efficiencies decrease. Pieces of scale attach themselves to rotating equipment, i.e., pumps and mixers, and cause bearing failure. If these problems sound familiar, then you know why you need to periodically clean the lime scale and rust out of the system with LimeX. LimeX provides an excellent method to clean equipment without expensive disassembly. In some applications, the cleaning can be accomplished while the system is in operation. LimeX can remove scale in small, inaccessible places that cannot otherwise be cleaned. Other benefits to using LimeX include, but are not limited to: 1. Why Does LimeX Change LimeX comes in a pale yellow color that changes to a deep bluish-purple color when it is spent. There are four important advantages to this color change: 1. You know when the solution is spent and should be discarded. 2. You don't spend time circulating a spent solution. 3. The color change occurs at a pH of 5.8 to 6.0, which is well within the safe disposal range of most of the current governmental waste water regulations. 4. If the equipment is clean and LimeX has not changed color, you can save it and use it again. The ingredients in LimeX, when spent, are not listed as hazardous waste, nor does it possess any of the hazardous characteristics specified in 40 CRF 261. LimeX has a low B.O.D. (Basic Oxygen Demand) rating. LimX is U.S.D.A. approved and acceptable for use as an acid cleaner in all departments of official establishments operating under the Federal Meat, Poultry, Shell Egg Grading and Egg Products Inspection Program within the U.S. LimeX meets all the requirements of the U.S. Department of Transportation regulations given in 173.240 (a) for shipment without hazardous warning. PROCEDURE: 1. Record the current vacuum pump operating amperage. 2. Take unit out of service. Remove bottom & top plugs, and allow all water to drain from the unit. Attach the inlet hose to the bottom and a return hose to the top for circulation of LimeX water scale solvent. 3. 4. Insert blanks ‘pancakes’ in flanges of discharge and suction piping, and check to make sure that the pump is isolated so that no LimeX is wasted. 5. Add the prescribed amount of LimeX and circulate for the prescribed amount of time. See attached table. Tighten vacuum pump seal packing to minimize leakage. Paper mill After the prescribed circulation time, shut off the circulation pump and disconnect the return hose and put all fluid to drain. 6. 7. De- 8. The exception to #7 above is if you are using full capacity and full strength LimeX, check the strength of the LimX and return to containers for future use. 9. Flush the unit with water for 10-15 minutes and reset the vacuum pump seal packing to the correct setting. 10. Return vacuum pump to service. 11. After the pump has stabilized, record the current operating amperage and compare it to the amperage prior to cleaning. 12.
