Figure 2: Standard accessories included with each board 5 GENERAL SET-UP 5.1 Inflation 1) To inflate, open the cap by turning it counter clockwise. Check and make sure the spring loaded pin is not depressed and locked in the open position. To verify that the valve is not open, push the pin down and turn it clock wise. If the pin stays down, you have now opened that valve. To close it, turn the pin counter clockwise so it springs back up. Now the valve is closed. All inflation is done in the LOCKED position and deflation is done in the OPEN position. To attach the pump hose to the high pressure valve, use the appropriate nozzles and fittings which are supplied with the high pressure pump. Push the fitting into the valve and turn clock wise to lock it. 2) Inflate the board to between 8 and 14 PSI (0.55-0.965 bar) depending on your preference. Do not exceed 14 PSI (0.965 bar) Maximum air pressure. Please check pressure with supplied pressure gauge and do not use air compressor for inflation. After inflation disconnect the hose from the valve and close the valve with the cap. Please note: The valve won’t be airtight until the valve is closed with the valve cap. 3) If you need to decrease the pressure deflate until you reach the recommended pressure. If you need to increase the pressure, inflate until you reach the recommended pressure of 8 to 14 PSI (0.55-0.965 bar) 7 5.2 Center Fin Installation Installation steps: 1) Slide fin base into fin box 2) Slide fin all the way to the back of the fin box 3) Insert the fin retention pin through the slot Figure 3: Center fin before installation 5.3 Deflation 1) Remove all accessories including removable center fin. Side bite fins are permanently attached and should not be tampered with. 2) Clear any water or fragments out from around the valve area before removing valve cover. 3) Press down on the valve pin to let air out of the SUP. Once air starts to release you can press the valve pin in all the way and turn it clockwise to the open locked position. If the pin stays down without pushing down and the board is collapsing, you have opened the valve. 4) To fold up your inflatable paddle board first make sure the valve is still in the open position and then begin to fold/roll the board up from the tail to the nose. When you have finished rolling it up, place the black carrying strap around the board to keep it from unraveling. Figure 4: Board properly rolled up and deflated 8 6 GENERAL PADDLING INFORMATION 6.1 Pre-ride Safety Check List • • • • • • • • • Always paddle with others. Always wear a leash attaching you to the board. Wear a Coast Guard approved personal flotation device Always wear protective clothing. Always paddle in safe conditions. Be aware of changing weather conditions. Avoid paddling in off shore wind or windy conditions. Do not exceed your paddling ability; be aware of your limitations. DO NOT use alcohol or mind altering drugs prior to or while using this product. 6.2 How to Use Assume a relaxed stance with your feet positioned approximately shoulder width apart. Knees slightly bent in a relaxed upright stance, with your shoulders back and looking straight ahead. Place your top hand on end of handle and your bottom hand approximately 24” down shaft of paddle. Paddle in a comfortable forward motion, with arms a little bent. To turn left proceed to paddle on the right hand side of the board and to turn right proceed to paddle on the left hand side of the board. The correct paddle position has the blade of the paddle in the following orientation: 9 7 REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE 7.1 Detection of Leaks and Repair Instructions Your new stand up paddleboard is made from a durable PVC material. If a tear or puncture does occur, PVC is very easy to repair. Repairs are easily done with your included patch kit. Read the following paragraphs for leak detection and repair tips. Leak detection If you are experiencing a loss of air pressure, not caused by colder temperatures or storage time, you need to check the board for leaks, starting with the valve location. We recommend mixing soap and water in a spray bottle to use as an aid for checking for leaks. Spray around the valve. If you see bubbles forming, check your valve seating and base and be sure the valve insert is screwed tight. Check that the valve pin is in the fully up position and the valve is free from any debris keeping the pin from fully closing. If you continue to have problems you may need to order a new valve. The valve can be tightened or removed and replaced with the valve wrench tool that comes with the SUP. If the board is losing air and it is not in the valve location, you probably have a small hole. Small holes can be repaired easily. Spray around the board until air bubbles become visible then mark the location of the leak. If you do not find air bubbles, inflate the board to maximum pressure and try to listen for leaks. Repairs Your SUP comes with a repair kit as standard equipment. Cut a piece of repair material large enough to overlap the damaged area by approximately 1/2”, and round edges of patch. Apply a thin layer of adhesive (not included) to the underside of the patch and on the area to be repaired on the SUP. Too much glue will interfere with a proper adhesion. Allow adhesive to become tacky for 2-4 minutes, and then place patch over the hole. Use a weight of some kind to apply 3-5 lbs. of pressure for 12-24 hours. Once adhesive has cured, apply a small amount of glue around the outside of the patch to seal the edge. Allow for a complete curing time of 24 hours before inflating the board. 7.2 Cleaning and Storage When storing your Current Drives Inflatable Paddle Board, avoid storing in direct sunlight or in harsh weather conditions and follow the following tips to prolong the life of your board: • Before storing, hose off the SUP and let it dry completely to prevent mildew buildup. 10 • Do not use harsh chemicals for cleaning. Most dirt can be removed with a mild soap and fresh water. Rinse it thoroughly making sure to remove any residues of salt if used in salt water. Use a mild soapy solution, do not use detergents or any type of silicone based products. • Storage of the SUP can be inflated or deflated. If you choose to deflate the board, it is recommend that you store it in the storage bag that came with the SUP. • If storing the SUP outdoors, Keep it off the ground and covered with a tarp to prevent exposure to the elements. • Hanging the SUP is not recommend. • Do not store in extreme hot or cold conditions. 8 ADDITIONAL RESCOURCES Please visit the following links on the internet to watch our demonstration video prior to unpacking and use of your Current Drives I-SUP.
