IT’S ON AGAIN! GUNDAROO MUSIC FESTIVAL 10 October 2015 in partnership with Motor Neurone D isease Association of NSW The Gundaroo Music Festival was the vision of a talented local musician, Scott Windsor, who was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in November 2012. MND is a degenerative disease affecting the nervous system. Sadly, Scott passed away on 17 April this year. The Gundaroo Music Festival now becomes his legacy. Scott’s vision was that the Gundaroo Music Festival would become an annual event with proceeds going to MND research for a cure. Scott’s vision has paid off: the Gundaroo Music Festival is now in its third year. It is a family-friendly big day out, with non-stop entertainment from 10am to 10pm. In 2014, we saw Daryl Braithwaite perform to a crowd of over 2,500 people, and we raised over $40,000. The festival includes a fully catered VIP Marquee, live bands, a spectacular fireworks display, motor club displays, a kids zone, market stalls, wine tastings, international food stalls and more. This year, we are excited to announce Mental As Anything as our headline act. As a sponsor, you will be able to enjoy the Gundaroo Music Festival from the comfort of the fully catered VIP Marquee. We are grateful for the generosity of those who attend the festival, and for our large team of local volunteers. But we also rely on the generosity of organisations and businesses such as yours, who can support us by sponsoring the festival this year. Sponsorship packages are detailed below, and can be tailored to suit your business. Alternatively your business can donate a good or service to be auctioned at the Gundaroo Music Festival. Fully catered VIP passes are limited and tables are filling fast. We would love your support—please get in touch with me today! Gundaroo was home for them and their two young girls, Jess (13) and Emma (9). Scott set up his business, Fine Finish Automotive, in Fyshwick in 1996, but sold the business in 2012 after being diagnosed with MND. Scott was a drummer for many bands over the years, both here in Canberra and in surrounding districts. Scott’s musical career began at the age of seven, and his style and his ability to play with many bands was well known. He played with bands including Brittle Jack, Sean Hale, Bent Fender, the Windsor Daniels Band, Dianna Corcoran, Ernie Van Veen, Dorothy-Jane ‘DJ’ Gosper, The Bridge Between, The BordererS and many more. Scott also enjoyed volunteering his time to mentor young students at the local primary school in Gundaroo. He also gave individual tuition to young drummers, and took great pride in their development. Scott always supported local and regional charities, and he was often called upon to lend a hand at the Canberra Country Music Festival, both for his technical knowledge and for the supply of high-end sound equipment. It was Scott and Sue Windsor’s vision to hold the Gundaroo Music Festival on a yearly basis, with proceeds going to the Motor Neurone Disease research team. Their vision is now a reality.
