NWEA 302 - ELA Instructional Strategies DescriptionParticipants of this grammar-based workshop will be able to make the explicit connection between reading comprehension, writing skills, and grammar knowledge. During this training, we will be creating class –generated grammar walls and concept charts that explicitly teach the eight parts of speech and other grammar basics. These concepts apply to the learning statements from the NWEA Learning Continuum (a.k.a. Instructional Data/Descartes) for all grades. Participants will also learn a methodology called “Text-cavation" that can be an extension to help students improve their sentence fluency and ability to produce complex sentence structures.
