Chapter Happenings
It’s Gonna Be a Busy Season
By now, some of you may have insured your bikes for the season, others will
follow shortly. There are lots of events on the riding schedule and some not
posted yet, but enough to keep you all as busy as you want to be. The season
is kicked off as always by holding some riding courses to help you update your
skills for very little money. There is still time to let Harold know if you want to
attend any of these or if you need more info.
May 2 & 3, Trailering and Trike Course
May 2, Advanced Riding Course
May 3, Advanced Riding Course, for those who can’t make it on the 2nd.
Of course we have the levels program as well. This program begins with
safety awareness and is a graduated program to help you become a better and
safer rider. The first level is simply a pledge to ride safe. It is a personal
commitment to participate in rider education. This is totally achievable by
everyone and there is no charge for any of the levels.
Chris Hazlewood is our Chapter Educator and he can answer any questions
and send you the forms to sign if you want to begin the program.
We start off in early April with an invite from Washington’s Chapter E for their
Spring Fling. I sent out an email about this but will duplicate that info here. We
have one free registration for 1 up or 2 up. The event is on April 11th if you want
to attend (and can) please let me know and we will draw a name from the
entries for the winner. Each Chapter has one free registration, if you have a
current membership for Chapter C, then you are eligible to win!!
In early May, we have the riding courses (above) and then on the long
weekend, the Annual Victoria Days in Salmon Arm. If you want to show up early
on Friday, they have planned a ride for Friday Afternoon. This is always a great
start to the riding season and an opportunity to visit with your friends from other
Chapters or even provinces and states. We always look forward to seeing our
Goldwing friends again.
June brings us a trip to Reno for the first ever “Reno Rendezvous”.The Jul
There are still rooms left at the Grand Sierra Casino and the packages are still
available as well. Some of us are making a 12 day vacation out of this and
planning a great ride down and back as well as the time in Reno. The more I
look, the more ride options I see for that area.
The July long weekend has been our Chapter campout for several years
now, but the holiday is on a Wednesday this year and we still have not decided
which way to move the campout. A decision will be made soon.

We are trying to get back onto

Our next date is April 5th. I realize
that this is Easter weekend but
I’m sure not everyone is doing
dinner. We will go back to Jimmy
J this time for 10:00 am but may
change location for the next one.
Then, if you have your bike ready
to go, join us for a ride afterwards.

Cranbrook is the location for the Region J Rally this
year and Region I will be holding their Rally in Lewiston
again this year right on the heels of Cranbrook. If you
missed it last year, then make sure you leave room for
one of Effie’s Burgers (they are big enough to share with
at least one other person) and then head out for an
awesome ride on the Rattlesnake Grade. This is now
Kevan’s favorite ride. It used to be the Lolo Pass. There
are some that are doing a migration route from
Cranbrook to Lewiston.
September long weekend is the Gold Run moved to
Clinton this year. And finally, last but not least is our
own Chapters Greenheart Run on September 13th.
This is by no means a complete riding list as we
have our Sunday rides as well as impromptu campouts
and you can always join one of the other chapters on
their rides.
Getting away from the riding now to announce that
the last 50/50 winner at our March meeting was Ken
Watson. Elaine and Steve Kolstad are expecting their
3rd child any day now. Best Wishes for an easy delivery.
Do they make trunk mounted baby seats?
April 1st is Chapter D’s next dinner meeting and they
have a special guest of Josh Durnham from Rubberside
Down. They are also having Darrel Brown visit. He is a
lawyer specializing in motorcycle accidents.
On April 19th there is a Team Ride starting at the
ABC Restaurant (changed to Ricky’s) on the SE corner
of Lougheed and Boundary. There will be a brief
teaching and then the ride.
Don’t forget the Road Captain and Co Rider course
on April 26th at Shirley’s clubhouse. Both of these
classes are very informative for both the rider and corider. There is also a Bike Maintenance Day on April
18th to make sure your bike is ready to go for either of
these dates.
Well, now you
have the basics in a
nutshell. Plan out your
calendar and we hope
to see you
somewhere
along the road.

Easter
