The Outbound program at Hale Scout Reservation has been a great program for experienced Scouts (age 14-17) to participate in. Scouts and Leaders have commented that they have wanted something more. The camp is situated perfectly to deliver a better older boy program. For 2015 we have designed a program that will challenge and teach older Scouts. Camp staff have been exploring the adjacent National Forest land in search of fantastic high adventure opportunities and we have found some! Currently the program is shaping up to include a 14 mile round trip backpack. This will be a rugged experience where the Scouts cook their own food and purify their own water. The boys would leave camp as Scouts would return to camp after completing the “trials” and be considered Kiamichi Warriors. We will have special recognition for them at the closing campfire.
