About HandsOn Hong Kong
Our Mission:
HandsOn Hong Kong mobilizes and empowers our community to meet pressing
social needs in Hong Kong through volunteer services.
Our Vision:
Our vision is a caring community that gives its time and talent to transform
Hong Kong.
Hong Kong is a city of contrasts. While Hong Kong is in the top 10 worldwide for GDP per capita,
1 in 5 people are living below the poverty line, surviving on HK$140 per day or less. For many of
us, the significant social needs in Hong Kong often go unnoticed. Low-income families, the elderly,
people with disabilities, migrants and refugees, disadvantaged children, abandoned animals and
polluted beaches all need our care and attention. HandsOn Hong Kong works in our community
each and every day with local NGOs to address these issues and mobilize individuals like you to
make a difference through volunteering.
What We Do
Founded in 2007, HandsOn Hong Kong is a registered charity organization in Hong Kong and is
an affiliate of the global HandsOn Network.
HandsOn Hong Kong works with local NGOs to provide them with much-needed volunteers and
programs. We take the workload away from our NGO partners by recruiting, training, and managing volunteers.

On behalf of the Board and staff of HandsOn Hong Kong, I warmly welcome you to our 2015
Soiree. I would like to thank every one of you for joining us tonight for this special HandsOn Hong
Kong event.
Our Soiree could not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors, prize donors,
volunteers, Board, staff and other supporters. But of course, it would be nothing without your
presence here this evening.

As you enjoy a wonderful evening of fine food and wine, great company and lively entertainment,

Over a million people in our city live in poverty, including 24% of children and 45% of our elderly,
surviving on HK$140 or less a day.
Each dollar you donate to us this evening will enable us to work with more charities and community groups to deliver much-needed services. With your help, we can ensure more underprivileged
children have access to after school tutoring; brighten the lives of more disabled children by
taking them on memorable outings; improve the living conditions of impoverished elderly people;
make Hong Kong a greener city and so much more.

create programs to meet such needs; and recruit, train, and manage volunteers to run the activities for these programs. Our NGO partners benefit from the volunteer assistance, leaving them
with more time to focus on their front line activities.

and causes in Hong Kong that need our expertise and volunteers. With your help, there are

Tonight you have the opportunity to support HandsOn Hong Kong’s programs serving children in
need in Hong Kong. This is a unique chance to directly create social change and impact in our
community. We are aiming to raise $100,000 to support our children’s programs this summer.
This funding will enable HandsOn Hong Kong to strengthen its children’s programs by ensuring
children in need in Hong Kong receive much needed support services and take part in activities
and experiences they would not otherwise have. Your pledge will help HandsOn Hong Kong and
our volunteers to provide:
Outings and tailored learning experiences for children with intellectual disabilities.
Homework support for children from ethnic minority and refugee families.
Programs to help low-income children, including arts workshops and activities to improve
English language skills.
