 The Harlem Park to Park Initiative (HP2P) is a network of entrepreneurs
committed to community development in Central Harlem, NYC’s premiere
cultural, dining, shopping and nightlife hub north of 110th Street.
 The membership of Harlem Park to Park is comprised of
80+ premiere businesses located within the geographic area of Central
Park North to 125th Street and Morningside Park to Marcus Garvey Park.

How did this movement begin?
 Started with small business owners getting together to
help ourselves
 Researched successful neighborhood marketing
associations such as the Meat Packing District Initiative
 Reached out to the local economic development
agencies, Community Board 10, as well as the City and
State agencies to update on our initiative and find areas
of collaboration
 Formed business alliance of scrappy, innovative, and
determined business owners committed to bring about
change and growth
Objectives
 Proactively shape the public image of Harlem’s small businesses
 Increase traffic to local businesses through marketing and PR
 Create greater awareness of all the great services that our local
businesses provide
 Build loyalty and local ownership from residents of the community
 Capture increased spending from current tourist traffic
 Attract visitors from other parts of Manhattan and Tourists from beyond
 Work to create an environment in which small business can
thrive
 Work with city and state officials to make sure that issues related to doing
business in our district are heard and addressed
 Encourage networking and collaboration amongst companies
 Collaborate with the development community to encourage
development that benefits local small businesses and increases
the CHARM of our neighborhood
 Provide systems (maps, brochures, online, etc) that will give
broader access to information and resources for our business
community and residents
