Novice riders should go to www.ectra.org to read competitive ride rules prior to the event. Experienced competitors will be on hand to assist new riders. Horses must be 60 months or older to compete. Junior riders must be 17 years old or younger as of January 1, 2015. Senior riders must be 18 years or older. A negative Coggins and Rabies certificate and HRC liability waiver must be included with entry. Ribbons will be awarded to the 1st- 3rd place finishers in each division. The ride will be a combination of dirt road & woods trails. The time for the 15-Mile will be calculated according to ECTRA rules, 5.9-6.1 mph. On the ride, the rider is required to take care of his/her horse. S/he may receive limited assistance such as saddling, mounting, and holding the horse. The use of a halter, saddle cloths, blanket, brushes, curry combs, etc are permitted. Bar shoes, pads, and electrolytes will be permitted. Salves, salt on the back, liniments, compresses, and bandages are forbidden. Injuries and wounds shall be reported immediately to the judges. Rookie Rider/Horse Division: the rider or the horse have never competed in a competitive ride (any distance) Junior Division: 17 years or younger Senior Division: 18 years or older 8-Mile Pleasure Ride Info: Come & join the fun! Ride a marked trail of approximately 8 miles. A negative Coggins, Rabies, and Liability Waiver must accompany your entry. General Info for Both CTR & Pleasure Ride: Bring a bag lunch. Trail snacks will be provided. Directions: I91 to Exit 9- follow Route 5 North to Hartland 3 Corners- turn left onto Route 12 North (towards Woodstock)- go about 1 mile to Hartland 4 Corners- turn right onto Mace Hill Rd to Tessier’s ring- #18 on right From Western VT: take Route 103 to Ludlow- then Route 131 East to I91- go north to Hartland exit (as above) 1. All riders must wear an ASTM/SEI approved riding helmet! 2. A red ribbon must be worn in the tail of a known kicker. A yellow ribbon must be worn in the tail of a stallion 3. Due to local terrain, protective hoof gear is strongly recommended on all four feet of all horses!! 4. PLEASE! Before you leave be sure the area around your trailer is clean – no manure, hay, trash, etc. you are parking on private property & it must be left as it was when you arrived. Thank You!
