Your Exclusive Camp
Exciting times
at Haut-Lac
We are delighted to present our
new Summer Camp to you.
A new Centre overlooking
the Swiss Riviera.
Based in Les Paccots just above
Vevey and Montreux on the Swiss
Riviera, we will have the calm and
safety that we have been used to in
Les Sciernes but are just minutes
from Lake Geneva and all the
excitement and activities around
Vevey and Montreux.
En-suite twin or triple
rooms.
We will also have exclusive use of the new
Haut-Lac Bilingual School campus with
extra classrooms, 3 fully equipped sports
halls, climbing wall and tennis court
Exclusive use of the new
Haut-Lac Bilingual School
Campus
On our residential camp we will have a
maximum of 70 students and so can offer a
care and attention that you will not find at
other camps.
This exclusive environment means staff and
students getting to know each other very
quickly and very well, and allows the
students to make new friendships without
feeling lost or overwhelmed.
Our day camp students will have the
opportunity to meet students from further
afield and enjoy a truly international
experience during their summer holidays.
This summer we are also able to offer our
residential students some specialist camps
that we have already been running for our
day campers, such as golf, sailing or horse
riding!
What all this adds up to is making a great
camp experience even better.
We look forward to seeing you.

With best wishes

Did you know that you learn better when
you are having fun?
Did you know that the brain thinks in
pictures?
Our students chose the themes around
which their classes will be based so they
have a big input into what they will be
learning to make sure that it will be
interesting and fun.
Our programme has always been
very visual, from using flash cards
to getting outside the classroom and
using video and web images in
order to learn vocabulary.
Did you know that standing up makes
you 80% more effective in your
learning?
Our students get out of the classroom
as often as possible. We use games,
role playing, interviews, video reporting,
acting, singing and many other
mediums to get out students moving,
focused and interested.
We have always found this to be true.
You will not learn if you are not interested
and generally you are not interested if
you are not having fun!
Our teachers are encouraged to think
outside the box and to innovate, to
organise inspirational lessons that will
show our students how valuable it is to
communicate with someone in their
language
Our language programmes are our
flagship programmes and can be
combined with our Multi-activity camp
and any of our specialist camps.

Prepare for
tomorrow today!
In conjunction with our partners
Team Business and Dr. Keith
Weigelt from The Wharton School,
Haut-Lac can offer a range of
dynamic and exciting programmes
which enable students to learn all
the fundamentals of setting up and
running a business.
Dr. Keith Weigelt is a Professor
of Strategy at The Wharton
School and the founder of
Building Bridges to Wealth, an
organisation dedicated to
financial and business literacy
for our youth. He has been
teaching at Wharton for over
24 years.
At the beginning of the programme
students will participate in the Box
programme run by Team Business.
Students are led through an imaginary
6 months in the development of a new
business and are faced with
competition from other student groups
all developing product in the same
market.
Leaders will rise to the surface but
quickly find that team cooperation
tumps individual brilliance.
During the Box
Programme students will
•
Receive a business challenge.
• Teams go into management
meetings and develop a
business plan.
• Identify key value and cost
drivers.
• Turn their plan into action
against the clock.
• Market the product to their
customer.
• Measure and analyse their
results on income and cash flow
statements.
• Most critically, they reflect on
what happened and learn from
their mistakes and successes
“Like you, I aim to create a firm foundation from
which students can grow and succeed. I look
forward to forging a partnership founded on the
shared belief that we can do more to educate and
inspire our business-minded students at the
college-prep level.” Dr. Keith Weigelt.
Intensive summer entrepreneurship program taught by Dr. Keith
Weigelt in Switzerland.
After the initial box programme Dr. Weilgelt will enable the students to move forward with a business idea and by the
end of the week students will have achieved the following:
• Envision a new product or business idea.
• Work in teams to develop marketing, competitive, financial, and operational plans.
• Pitch their idea to a group of ‘investors’ who challenge them on their concept and plan.

Our Staff
!
At Haut-Lac we have a very
high ratio of staff to students
At our maximum capacity we would have
one member of staff for every 5 students.
Haut-Lac started as a
family business and even
though it has grown
significantly since those
early days the family
atmosphere and values
still drive our staff and
our programmes today.
Our staff are young but experienced in their field.
Devoted to working with young people, they are
dynamic, responsible, energetic and enthusiastic.
Their goal is to provide our students with a
positive life experience.
All staff follow a rigorous training programme and
extensive background checks before
commencing their work us.
!
!!
House Teams
!
Being part of a team immediately
creates a common bond for the
students and friendships will form.
Our House Team system is invaluable to the success of our
programmes.
Each week students are assigned to teams so that each team has an equal number of boys
and girls and an equal mix of age ranges.
!
Staff members are divided equally among each team so that right from the first day students
in each team will get to know a lot of staff members very well and the staff will get to know
the students in their team very well. The teams help all students settle in to life at Haut-Lac
quickly and comfortably.
!
In terms of organising the students the House Teams enable us to get valuable information
very quickly through daily House Team meetings. Throughout the week students can win
points for their team by participating in the various activities and each week the winning
team receives a prize at the weekly presentation ceremony!
!
!
Health and
Safety
At Haut-Lac we know that the quality of
programme on offer means nothing if all Health
and Safety issues are not fully incorporated into
the daily practices of our staff.
We have worked hard in the areas of
identification of potential hazards, upgrading and
maintenance of equipment, organisational safety
systems, staff training, communication and
administration. This is a continuous process and
is reviewed at least twice a year!
Haut-Lac’s goal is to ensure that the
transport,accommodation and
services we provide are clean and
safe, fit for purpose, comply with the
appropriate legislation and meet or
exceed the core values as set out in
our Code of Practice document.
It is Haut-Lac’s prime aim and
objective to ensure that we adopt
good working practices and comply
with current legislation and we
achieve this through the following
methods:
• Taking every reasonable measure to reduce
the risk of accidents.
• Maintaining a safety management system.
• Ensuring that our services comply wherever
applicable with the current local,national
and/or international standards.
• Maintaining accurate and up to date Health
and Safety records.
• Actively promoting the awareness,continual
assessment and improvement of
operational standards with regards to Health
and Safety among our staff.
• Providing intensive training for staff so they
are able to make informed decisions and
react appropriately in any given situation.
• Regular inspection of equipment and
transport.
• Actively seeking feedback on Health and
Safety issues from our clients and on our
staff performance.
• Maintaining management structures to
ensure consistent implementation of our
Code of Practice and Safety Management
System.
