A Special Message From Michael Magee, MD and Joseph Newman, MD
On behalf of the faculty of the Baylor Scott and White Eye Institute, we would like to
personally invite you to join us for the annual Scott & White Ophthalmology Conference
and Everett R. Veirs Lecture at the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort in Bastrop, Texas May 15 and
16, 2015. We are excited to have the event again this year at this beautiful venue.
Michael A. Magee, MD
The conference this year will focus primarily on vitreo-retinal diseases. Dr. John A.
Wells, III, of Palmetto Retina Center and Chairman of the University of South Carolina
Department of Ophthalmology in Columbia, South Carolina will present the Veirs
lecture. Dr. Wells serves as a Vice-Chair for the National Institutes of Health and
National Eye Institute sponsored Diabetic Retinopathy Clinical Research Network that
has been pivotal in increasing our understanding of the best ways to manage diabetic
related retinal problems. You will receive a total of 7 hours of CME credits including an
ethics lecture delivered by the Baylor Scott and White Department of Ophthalmology
Chairman, Glen O. Brindley, M.D.
Glen O. Brindley, MD
Chairman
The format this year will begin with a banquet on Friday evening followed by research
presentations from our third year ophthalmology residents. Saturday morning will begin
the lecture series including our Veirs lecture. Saturday afternoon will again this year be set aside for our golf tournament
at the resort’s Wolfdancer Golf Course. Additionally, the Lost Pines Resort offers a wide variety of activities for the
entire family that can be enjoyed on Saturday afternoon. The response to the resort, along with its accommodations and
activities, were so well-received at last year’s conference, that we were excited to be able to visit this luxurious resort
again this year.
We’re excited to be involved with this year’s Veirs conference, as well as being back at Baylor Scott and White Eye
Institute. We look forward to seeing you in Bastrop with the opportunity to renew old friendships, visit with former
residents and colleagues, learn new and exciting things in the field of vitreo-retinal diseases, and relaxing at the Lost
Pines Resort. We hope to see you there!
